Lol he’s switching to iPhone and y’all mad because you like blackberry 😂
More like they like land lines.
Rivian got an investment from VW, stock went up 50%, Rivian is here to stay for a bit longer.
Yeah! That was HUGE news yesterday. Jumped from $11 to almost $20!
I’ve never watched your channel for the vehicle, but I will definitely be paying more attention to the vehicle now. I’m really interested to see how EVs work for overlanding. My wife just got a used Tesla after Hertz flooded the market and I’m learning that all the negativity from people who have never owned one simply isn’t true. The hate seems to be 70% based on fiction and 25% exaggeration. Only 5% is actually factual and realistic. Although I can see it being more difficult, I’m hoping all the negativity on overlanding with an EV is just as wrong.
Good luck with the Rivian- I think you nailed the timing, the EV market is exploding and Rivian’s leading the off road charge. As an EV owner I don’t understand the hate that still flows, seems like an education and fear of change thing to me. When people understand that EVs are actually much better than ICE vehicles in 99% of aspects, they’ll come around. It’s scary to buy the first one and learn about charging and to change the way you think about and plan trips. But it’s awesome once you do. Let the haters hate and follow your own path- thanks for the future content, I subscribed and will be eager to see Rivian adventures!
Sad to see that the gladiator will be leaving but I’m still gonna stay around and watch your content
I’ll be interested to see what you do
I look forward to the rivian!
As a Raptor owner, I'm excited to see the Rivian content!
as a recent Rivian owner myself... subscribing to follow from the begining!
Interested to see what you do with the Rivian. They are very cool and capable vehicles. I expect you will have some additional planning and hurdles to clear with energy management, but they have a pretty big battery and are efficient at slow speeds as well. Can’t wait to see how your build goes.
For me, I could care less about the vehicle and gear. I want to watch people telling their story and sharing their experiences of travel. If I wanted to watch dk measuring videos by bragging about their vehicles and gear, I would watch xoverland. Justin, I enjoy watching your content because you seem like a good dude I would like to go on an adventure with who makes well produced content, period. So whatever the gear or rig, I'll watch. That said, I do wish I could buy the Gladiator! Wonder if you could do a raffle? Sell enough raffle tickets to offset the cost. I would definitely buy some raffle tickets! Not that I would win, but I'd throw my hat in that ring!
The cost of a raffle is far too much. Legal fees and taxes on it would mean I’d need to sell $120k of raffle tickets to get close to the lowest price I would accept for the Gladiator.
It may take time to sell, that’s ok.
And thank you for being here for adventure and fun. I see the perspective of all the others, but I’ve been very clear that I’m not a vehicle loyalist. I’m here to see what is the best tool for the job. That said, I’m hoping to lock myself into a position of authority in the EV adventure space over the next 5+ years.
If anything, people should be happy that I’m taking the risk to see what’s possible so they don’t have to.
@@JustinBMcBride Yeah, man, it's a hell of a truck. It will sell and worth all the pennies!
@@JustinBMcBride For sure, part of exciting adventures is taking risks and pushing the boundaries and not having everything under sun that makes for a flawless trip.
Fixing mistakes is part of the journey. Great to see the bumper getting a proper upgrade, complete with fresh bolts and thread locker.
What most excited me about the Rivian was the camp kitchen, even though that’s become vaporware. Seeing your overland build will be cool!
Rivian owner here, now subscribing. Looking forward to see what you discover.
Super excited to see the EV content! Nothing is perfect but I’m looking forward to see what you can and can’t do with an EV.. I think the Rivian is a sweet platform!
So you will help expose what we are missing (or not) and directly compare with our Jeeps? You will do this without me spending 100k on a Rivian? Why are my Jeep Overlanders so tweaked by this? You are taking a serious risk and I am excited about what you find. Hopefully it reinforces my Jeep choices because I really don’t need Rivian wet dreams. Thanks for all you do and disregard the haters.
Hey!!! 👋 I'm excited to see EV overlanding! Looking forward to seeing how your's plays out. Subscribed!
Came here to say this as well, looking forward to R1T overland stuff with you!!
I had a feeling you were going with the Rivian based on a video you did when you had the Bronco! Can’t wait to see the videos!
I'm a new subscriber, looking forward to the Rivian content!
As a R1S owner, looking forward to your future contents 🎉
I'm interested to see the new direction. I'm wondering if you'd be ale to make the ev truck fit your needs though due to a current lack of mods available for them though (with exception of suspension I guess)
Trust me when I say I’ve done my due diligence. 90% of my build is already figured out. So many of the Rivian builds I see are underwhelming and don’t meet the needs of the adventures I take on. I am pivoting to show what is possible and challenge the stigma of EV adventure.
@@JustinBMcBride hope it turns out well. I dont have room for a second car but if I did, I'd want a rivian. They look pretty awesome
Change is always good, interesting, scary and can be rewarding. Plus the price for Winston seems pretty fair tbh considering how much you have into it. On to the next build.
How did you get the Amber Lenses? Ive been looking for them for my Squadron and S8 Lights.
Also here for the long run I drive a Ford Ranger and I'm here because I enjoy your overlanding and vehicle modification builds you do, Sad to see some of the jeep folks leaving because you don't drive a jeep anymore.
Wish you good luck with the Rivian and I'm excited to see what you do with it.
Baja Designs sent them to me. I figured they had to be available by now, but looks like they still aren’t which is SUPER weird because I’ve had these for months now.
@JustinBMcBride Interesting, I guess I'll have to contact Baja Designs and see if I could get some.
@Melintedavid95 I too drive a Ford Ranger and love my Bajaj Design Sport Squardron ditch and fog lights w/wide lenses!

It will be cool to see what can and can’t be done with the new platform. If only you could keep both and have constant comparison. Vehicles are too dang expensive these days.
I think you will love the rivian as a vehicle but potentially hate the aftermarket support. But I am looking forward to what you find/come up with.
From Broncos to Jeeps to Rivians. It's perfectly cool for you to try new things and push the vehicles to their limits. We'll have you to thank to figure out pros/cons of each vehicle. My son and I will keep watching and supporting your channel.
Good for you bro, I'm looking forward to the new content.
Hey Justin, the video walkthrough on Winston's site is only 4 seconds long.
Here to see cool gear and cool adventures. I'm not an Ev fan, but maybe your built will change my mind.
3 things - First, for some reason I assumed most everything was gifted to big time UA-camrs. Secondly, glad I passed on the overpriced AEV bumper, as it was on my wish list early on (I was actually going to go with an AEV lift, but have changed my mind towards TF last minute). Lastly, in your previous video I commented that Rivian was your next choice (and I hope you don’t regret it too much!). UA-cam seems like a fickle platform. Crazy that your views are dropping with your Gladi…
Haha, I’m not big time. I’m just a guy like any of you.
The pivot in the business to focus on EV will have growing pains. I’m ready for that. I mean, look at all the Jeep bros leaving because I want to try something that they don’t have the guts to try and shoot down on bias alone.
But that’s why I’m doing it. Too many people are afraid of risk, and I have been that person, that’s why I got the Gladiator. I knew it would work for me, but my job is to push the limits, and to do that in a way that isn’t inherently dangerous, I’m going to go the EV route.
I’m yet to see a Rivian build that can be a Localander in the way I would use one.
@@JustinBMcBride I’ve seen Rivians in some fairly challenging locations when I was in UT and AZ in May. Being Canadian (and really never seeing one before) I thought it was wild. Best of luck with it - I’ll be watching with interest!
I’d love if you got a Rivian! You’re going to love it Justin. I love mine!
Nice. I think I subscribed when you had the Bronco.I think it was your beach trip or something that got me to enjoy the content. I didn't think twice when you went to the Jeep. As a Rivian owner who off-roads with a Bronco owner, why can't we all just get a long? Not much out there for aftermarket. We don't even have a wench bumper yet, and that is a major let down.
WD is from the Idiocracy timeline. Enjoy your new electric dual cab. Sincerely hope it brings you the YT success you are chasing.
WD? Western Digital?

Well it’s been nice following your channel and nothing against the Rivian my buddy has one. But lm a Jeep person and was following your channel because of your awesome gladiator . Well good luck on your channel
This is my fault. I have focused too heavily on what I drive on this channel instead of where I go. I am NOT a brand loyalist with vehicles. Never have been. It’s why my channel is my name and not something like Jeep Freak or Yota Bro.
I’m here for adventure, and the challenge of achieving it in a vehicle most assume can’t do it, is worth it for me.
There are plenty of Gladiator homies out there. I’m just noise in that space at this point.
Looking forward to your new content! I have really enjoyed being able to hear nature while offroading in a Rivian!
Hey that's exciting that you're trying something new! I'm not personally into the EV outdoor scene (although those Rivians are hot and fast). Mostly because i don't think EVs make sense in an off road, self-sufficiency perspective. There's enough anxiety in being way out there in the swell haha.
That said it's not a *bad* idea to be a leader in the content space. Best of luck. I may tune in here and there to see your experience. From a nerd perspective, I'm with Toyota on the hybrid commitment (although currently in a Jeep). Both from a market and carbon footprint perspective. Hybrid is better for both and IMO is the future. Perhaps your content could touch on those topics! You could always be the YT authority on both in the future. Just saying if you bring a generator in the wild just in case... you're effectively a hybrid.
No reason not to enjoy whatever tool gets us out there. Most of the time we watch these videos we'd rather be out doing those things. Feel free to share locations and adventure ideas. Not here to pay you to enjoy an adventure i can't also enjoy.
"Its youtube... I'm allowed to exaggerate" 😂
Nothing is real on the internet. Haha
@@JustinBMcBride Including your content.
@@Un_Disclosed says the guy with “User-NG1Bm8dp9z” haha! I love when I get trolls like you in the comments. Happy to take up some free rent in your head.
.....but man, I think its the "overloading" that brought people to your channel. Not the vehicle..I had a Taco when I saw your videos for the first time. I changed that about three times.
Then they shouldn’t care that I’m selling the Gladiator to continue what I’m doing in a more challenging platform. Should be a lot of fun to see how the next build comes together.
After the electric era, go to the Ineos next! That would be interesting to see in Utah too
I disagree the US market will become common EV. Although the government & EPA are pushing this hard, the American consumers are not buying it & have many reservations towards going 100% or even majority to EV.
Well I've been here for quite awhile, since the Tacoma days, it was hard to stay during the bronco days but your adventures kept me around. The EV is a big no for me but I'll try to stay. Best of luck in the future.
Appreciate your desire to seek out new things just not a Rivian fan ( or EVs) but still, it will be interesting. Stay safe and get a long extension cord 😂
Justin- I've been following you since you started. I wish you luck with the electric platform but I'll probably tune out unless you're on some cool back-trail camping areas I can check out when I'm on my next Jeep adventure.
The whole production of this video reminds me of AI generated content.
This whole comment reminds me of an AI generated comment.
@@JustinBMcBride In plainer language, lazy af content with ai providing the voice over.
@@Un_Disclosed you’re right. Spending a week on this video was lazy. Two days filming and three editing and scripting.
Keep the hits coming. I need the engagement - you know, because I obviously suck at all this.
Yep, manufacturers are backing off the EV craze and going more towards dual, gas/electric. Not to mention how heavy EV's are. Good luck with the venture, and I hope, for you, that we're all wrong.
Sounds like a “trust me bro” statement. Jeep is all in on a full electric future. Ford, all in on full electric. GM, all in on full electric. The only manufacturer that is pro hybrid and EV leery that comes to mind is Toyota, but they have even changed their branding from just “hybrid” to “Hybrid EV.”
The truth is that electric vehicles are going to become more prevalent, and accepting them in the outdoor space early is important to ensure we get what we really want from those future releases.
So you improperly installed the bumper. Most of AEVs products are built to OEM standards that why GM and Jeep partner with them! And yes they test everything! Good luck with that EV choice. I personally think Toyota is on the right path. Our grid system is not up to the standards it needs to be for EV's.
The real issue isn't EVs it's all up electrical use, Data centers account for 8x's more usage then EVs and even if every American switched to EVs tomorrow we would still only be on-par with Data centers. By 2050 it's estimated 50% of on- road vehicles will be electric accounting for 15% of electricity use.... Data centers are predicted to hit 38% of all US electric use.
Well I am slightly disappointed about you switching to an EV vehicle, because I enjoy you content /adventures in the Red Rubi Glad, , and I don't see how you will be able to do week long deep off road adventures without 5k watts of solar panels always deployed (otherwise it would be drive a day, sit still a day and charge back up) but you do what you need to do... ok the big Question, sale price (US $) of your red (Diesel?) Gladiator? what comes with it, what are you removing to put in/on new build? current approximate mileage , any known issues /recalls etc. ? I have a Red Launch Edition Rubicon (gas) Gladiator, mildly lifted on 37's and kitted out to overland that is getting a little tired and racking up miles...
LoL you think that there are places in the US where you can drive for a week offroad? What delusional fantasies are you living in? The longest offroad stretch in the US is something like 75 miles. Easily done in the Rivian.
Good luck with your Rivian project/adventures.
I’m not interested in over sized scale electric vehicles so will not be watching us progress in the future goodbye and good luck
Wow. So many people are too attached to what I drive. Where were you during the last few months?
@@JustinBMcBride watching your videos and enjoying them except for the reruns which frustrated me as I can remember watching the first time round.
All the best with the future, I’ll stick with my land cruiser 78 Troopy.
@@overland_adventure_nz child
Oh dang a ev :/ make sure to bring a generator so you can go places
Or I develop strong skills in route planning and preparation.
Fun fact. The Rivian will get more range than I got in my 2-door Bronco. It won’t be as bad as you think.
@JustinBMcBride range and mpg I get that but with your bronco you where able to refill on the trails but with ev you have to be near some place or town that has a charger.. but I understand your shift towards ev on a channel level. It will be fun to see what happens but ev market needs to think about these things for the adventure types
@@dirtremedyoffroad the only way that EVs will take adventure types seriously is if the early adopter market makes a strong showing to let them know what we need.
@JustinBMcBride I can agree there.
Or a Rotopax full of electrons :)
No one wants offroad ev content...
Buy my Jeep and start making your own content then.
I want offroad EV content
Don’t sell the Gladiator. It’s a fantastic build. You even drove it to Canada to be built up. I personally hate EV vehicles. But that is my personal opinion on that matter. The Gladiator is a far superior off roader to a Rivian Truck. Recharging a EV on an off road adventure has to be a nightmare.
Why do you hate EVs? Afraid of drivetrains? FFS the Rivian has a better range than Broncos and the TRX. They are insanely efficient off-road because they do not idle. The longest offroad stretch in the US is about 75 miles. Why would you need to recharge ever?
It's just ignorance
Gonna be honest, not interested in the Rivian and I wont be watching any of your future videos.
That’s fine.
How about this, are you interested in adventure around Utah? Because that’s really what the core of my channel is. Hell, my series is called “Localander” because I localand around Utah. It doesn’t matter what we drive but where we go.
@@JustinBMcBrideI’m into that. I don’t care what you’re driving. I think an EV spin is kind of interesting but honestly it’s about being out there more than what brand of vehicle you’re using.
Because it's better than what you can afford? Be more aspirational and better able to understand and accept technology.
@BillChurchFl if that were actually true people wouldn't be butthurt that he's getting a different brand vehicle lmao
Well good luck but I’m afraid you may be heading in the wrong direction. EV sales are not up but down. People who want them already own them and everyone else wants nothing to do with them. That’s why all the lay offs at EV plants. They are already talking about hydrogen for Pete’s sake. Same thing happened to trailrecon with the EV and he let it go within a few hours. So good luck man, had enjoyed your channel.
That explains Volkswagen’s $5b investment. Thanks for the expert advice.
Dude where are you getting that info? Fox news? EV sales are up across the board only one companies sales are down... Teslas. EV sales in the US are up 1/4 over 1/4 with no decline and world.wide EVs saw a 14% gain...
This incorrect for almost every single EV maker except Tesla.
Everyone selling Ev's is selling more each year than they did in the last. MORE people are buying ev's every year not less.
The increase in growth is down, but still growing.
The numbers look down for one reason. Teslas sales took a dump.
They are such a big player it made the whole market look poor. It is not.
Every single manufacturer other than Tesla has set record sales this year. EVs are now 20% of the market globally, 10% in the US. How about you pay more attention? By the way Hydrogen is insanely inefficient because you know how you make hydrogen? With electricity!
Someone can't read a graph

As for the GFC, it’s real. They are making campers for the Rivian. That and the access to the Tesla charging network are the two major things that have convinced me to make the jump.
