He is the kind of champ that can be piloted by a brain dead player with relative ease but when played by a onetrick has some actually difficult skill expression in his kit through using alpha to dodge abilities and the frame perfect tower shot meditate interaction.

@@Artur-sp8qn It was above 50% in pretty much every elo before the hotfix and 57% in lower ranks, they simply bombed him because he was way too strong and they went on "inside discussion of the goals" so we would need to wait a long time for a proper solution, meanwhile dealing with this abomination, so riot instead nerfed him into the ground.

If you kill the target you use Q on or it's dead before the animation finish you get teleported back where you used the skill. Pretty useful to farm minions against Ranged or another way to tower dive safely
That’s how it should work but for me it seems a bit bugged when the alpha strike kills a target… if something else kills the target you are alphaing it always works

still not something you should rely on to last hit, q on a minions wave mean you gonna push the wave to their side as well.

its much more than right click. knowing when to and when not to alpha-q is crucial. when and how to use ult/w also very important. timing is crucial. otherwise yi is just a squishy no dmg champion.

the doubting teammates part is soooo true, it's hard to do anything if they don't consider your clean up power
If you are good enough and enemies have skillshot CCs, you can engage fights and nearly 1v5. If they have Malzahar R or TF gold card, you need a tank vanguard that engage for you and disrupt eminent team.

all first generation champs have the same problem, how do you change them to better fit the newer state of the game but still keep them beginners friendly without making them way too strong? it's almost impossible without fully reworking them from scratch.

Lee sin is great example of what a champion should be, he is braindead enough that when you don't master him you will still do a lot of damage and he is skillfull enough that has a high learning curve that will get you only better and better over time and once you master, you have 200 years of collective balancing experience, that's what a begginer friendly champion should look like, not that garbage sword goes bonk tryndamere/ garen, that basically will run out of plays by day 2 playing then.
@@Nobody-su9km tryndamere and garen are great beginner champs. because the higher rank you go the more useless they become. so eventually (unless you're really good) you will hit a dead end. (usually plat)

It's just wrong with yi, since when played right he has almost 0 counterplay. Being able to play him in 3 lines succesfully just says how broken he is, like, Q is untargetability every 2 seconds with damage that can almost delete an ADC, almost perma MS in his ult that buffs him to +500 and damage reduction. Also, he has enough healing and damage to solo baron relatively quickly at 3 items, he is just fkng OP when played and set up correctly, not for something funneling yi was such an OP strategy that they had to straight up remove. I dont see it being balanced, tbf, Yi is just a cancer that even if you get him behind, he can just get 2 kills out of nowhere in a TF and then carry the whole game like it is nothing

@@daroxstebern4514 half true, yi has a deceptively strong early game , even more so with the buffs he got for lane yi. If you run lethal tempo you can legit duel top laners with ig and win matchups like in the video stated above.
@@daroxstebern4514 Stuns make useless every champion, so when true, it just is a argument for every champion that " stun = useless". And when you take into account HOW easy it is to stun him, it is way harder to do than every other 200 year champion that you list, since they dont have untargetability 3/4 of the time theyre on the battlefield. Yi has arguably the best DPS out of all champions, while he has the benefit of being untargetable most of the time, without any tradeoff, how isnt it op? Yeah, yone IS strong and hard to counter, but starting that not everyone can use him well (and even if they can) he just has some points that balance it out, like his E having high cooldown and almost every teamfighting strenght locked behind his ultimate. Yi doesnt have any of these, since all of his power is in basic attacks (no CD) and his Q that has almost no CD, while having the potential to dodge every stun you throw at him, and im not even counting the drakktar build that makes him invisible too, making virtually kinda impossible to stun lock him up. And yeah, he has a fucking great early game, his damage is quite remarcable and high, since i have fallen on the trap of "Yi his weak early, easy win" only to have half my HP taken out by one of his Q and then dying like an idiot.
@@sorkam7827 the only reason when yi feel hard to do anything against is when he is fed . basically at that point countering should be hard since he is fed . but the point is he has no real safe way to protect himself after re appearing . when it is easier for 200 years champ to be in and out in an instant . you cant stun ire w , you cant stop yone e , or stun his q or r . You have hard time dealing with yi because he is fed but it doesnt mean it is impossible like the 200 years.
6:10 it looks like he tried to meditate Sett W, but it doesn't effect true damage like Sett W or Garen R, which kind of counter Yi as a result

Tbh the fact that her Q now can make his R and E last longer is so op.
In jungle you can proc 3 passives (double hit) with his E, and if used correctly, you can make ur ult cooldown down to 30 sec (level 6) just by making him last logner by Qeing and Weing...
And that for me is really op. Maybe not as strong as you may think, but it is.

To bring down his ult CD to 30s you need a 70s lasting ult so yeah not happening by using a 4s W or a 1s Q

my names mos deadly. Ive been doing toplane yi since season 4. This guide is extremely limited and will only help you in lower elos.
For one if you noticed alot of the level 1 all ins were decided by yi having ignite and his opponent not. Sett would kill a yi if he either starts e or has ignite.
Of the champions yi gets bodied by early: jax (alpha his stun) gragas (wait for e) Shen (hope he ints) kled (close but he will usually barely get back mounted) Teemo (take cleanse to win) and Yorick (ult for his ult)
Other hard matchups after 6 until yi gets botrk can be darius and mordekaiser.
Sometimes you are aginst matchups where you start getting poked out. Or they are likely to towerdive. This is where putting extra points in w comes in.
The second point in w nearly doubles the effectiveness. The third point is generally overkill but if you are struggleing aginst poke you should take it. Typically i take a second point in w level 4 and a third around level 8 or 9 if i need it. Especially now with e being a one point wonder.
Lastly the reason you should play yi top over jungle is because most yi players afk farm jungle only picking up kills if theyre free. Playing yi top allows you to play yi while still having a jungler.

When i started league I didn't knw anything about any champs so i just looked their skills like q, w, e and r and passive and master yi was my favorite .

Lots of bruisiers can counter tryndamere if they build armor/defensive items for baiting his ultimate.
In mid elo, everyone knows that master yi is one of the best counters for trynda. You just build randuin, and he will not be able to outdamage you during your W healing.

to fight jax, you just need to wait out jax's e before you use your e, dodge his e stun with your q if possible, if he e early , you can win, but if the jax holds his e you will never win :), you can win level 1 if you dodge his e stun :)

@@user-xz8jr4xm8u it wasn't even a nerf for lethality though. Lethality Yi did more damage due to E proccing on the Q with Lethality Yi actually having a decent amount of AD to back up the E ratio.
Having a longer cooldown on natural Qs didn't mean anything when it exploded people and you got the ult refresh anyway.

honestly, I haven't been able to do well with Master Yi. I can get like 10-20 kills then get bursted down or cc chained as soon as I try to teamfight. So I just went with Evelynn as a hyper carry and shit like Trundle/Xin/Jarvan for normal junglers.

Yo veía esto en el pbe, simplemente era ridículo porque yi con el carcaj te quitaba más de media vida con la Q, con un ítem te one-shoteaba y como cuando había un yi enemigo era derrota segura
el daño on hit del carcaj no aplica para campeones, todo el lvl 1 que ves en el video es el yi de siempre, un poco peor porque bajaron el daño de la q. Si en el pbe era derrota segura cuando ibas contra yi es porque ese server esta lleno de gente que no tiene mucho nivel, así cualquier champ se feedea y ya xd
@@sarunightamber701 hablando de Yi, es de los pocos campeones que puede hacer 1 vs 1 sin problemas, creo que su counter principal vendria siendo Vayne, por la invisibilidad que tiene y el daño verdadero, Jax si llevas fajin no te pasara nada, o si le esquivas a tiempo la E con el Alpha..

Hello Dobby, I found that someone repost your video on a China Video platform, does it get a approval from you?
There us a bug (maybe feature) in his w where if you are about to take a tower shot, you can almost completely negate the damage by using w abd canceling it the moment the tower shot hits. Its really frame perfect skill but if you get the hang of it you cab survive tower shots even at 30 or 40 hp
That’s just how the ability works, doesn’t even have to be frame perfect, irelia w does a similar thing.
@@lain1230 nope it's a bug, the mitigation is supposed to be halfed for turret shots, yet it's upgraded to like 80% mitigation if you cancel the W just before the turret hits you, also it's not frame perfect, the window is like 0.5s
his w blocks more damage the lower you are, and it also has a .5 sec activation period ie after being activated it will apply for the next .5 seconds. thats what it says at least
@@EpicBunty The bug is that the damage reduction is less effective 0.25s after the channel, and is coded like (100% - W damage reduction%) which because W damage reduction is more than 50% it should therefore decrease to less than 50%. However as W damage reduction% is halved against turrets, it goes from 60% damage reduction to 30% damage reduction and after the cast skyrockets to 70% damage reduction for 0.25s. Hence why you should cancel the W just before the turret shot lands on you

I don't like how riot "fixed" master yi, now it's literally a new champ, lemme explain: i had the 80% winrate vs yi as fiddle and the 73% as noct, but with the new yi my win rate against it dropped drastically to 37%, it's insane how few changes can destroy the win rate of specific champs against 1 in particular.
I hace a similar problem, nobody one my pool champ can against this new Yi, i guess i will have to trust the jungler now

Bro the first game I had after the patch, Yi had pickaxe, and just used q with empowered e on me. Last thing I saw after death screen: 370 true damage level 4. He didn't auto me once. How is this a nerf? He can proc his e 4-5 times during his q now.
4 max (as you can hit only 4 times with Q)
Q doesnt have 100% onhit scaling (75% first hit the rest is 18,75%) so his q only does 1,31 times his e dmg (around 50 best case at lvl 4 with pickaxe) so 65,5 true dmg or 87,5 before the hotfix.

Yi was and will always be good against assassins so I dont know what you are talking about. A well timed w auto wins the 1v1 against them (unless it is quiyana then you need to dodge ult with q)
