Boy, that just made my day. Riding around with Ivan blasting through those roads like you were headed for the checkered flag. Thanks for that! Loved when you passed that slow car like it was standing still. WOOHOO!
I was at Goodwood for a practice day several years ago and was most impressed to see you squeeze this in to the back of a Mercedes Van to transport it .
Amazing, unreal. I thought I was old, Ivan has given me a new lease of life. Thought I was old at nearly 60. Only seen a few episodes. What a Star, what a gentleman. I must finish those two old cars an a few motorbikes. I wish he would wear a seatbelt though.I’d hate anything to happen to put him out of action, having just found him. All the best Ivan.
I was on a track day at thruxton a few years back. Well before covid hit. There were a couple of older gents running an a30 there. I spent a good 3 laps just following and watching it because it was so entertaining. Cocking wheels every turn, sliding about but in total control. Really opened my eyes to the older generation of automobile. Up until that point I’d been mainly into cars from the 80s and 90s which is when I was a kid. Keep up the great work Ivan. Thanks for taking us along.
That's what you call a car - great video, so much enjoyed! The Austin A30 was my dad's first car, a 1954 model bought second hand in 1957 - reg. no. TUG 158!!
cracking drive , do enjoy all your videos but especially the ones we get a birds eye view of a drive along too , love the donuts on the grass at the end , defiantly still got it
My grandfather got his licence in 1920 but never owned a car until the late 1960's. He bought a A30 and drove the wheels off it. I bought one in the late 70's as a runnabout car and despite having worn big ends it still drove fine. But nothing like this weapon!.
I love this channel Ivan but I am also a cyclist. So thank you on behalf of all road cyclist's for the very courteous and legal way that you passed the two riders in this video.
I have to believe you. This is what shows up as stock specifications. This motor seems to be far healthier than what is listed below 803 cc BMC A-Series engine inline 4. 58 mm bore x 76 mm stroke pushrod-operated overhead valves compression ratio 7.2:1 single Zenith 26JS or 26VME carburettor 28 bhp (21 kW) at 4400 rpm 40 lbf·ft (54 Nm) at 2200 rpm
What a car and what a ride! I have to admit I tapped the brakes a couple of times... but I'm only sixty-four so I'm not as brave as you. 😁 Cheers from a shed in Iowa
Nice post. I had a Ford Consul in 1966 when I was 18years old and living the dream. Swapped cars for a week with my Uncle Ken who had an A35 ( he needed a bigger car to take his family on holiday) - nice to drive and economical too.
Love this little car I remember when you brought it and pete driving it with me in it to scrutineering for a race 😂 we both though it was such a cool little car, always good to get out the cars and give them a little drive. Brilliant video well done tanya your videos are getting better and better 👏
Many many moons ago, I too owned a grey 2-door A30. Didn't go like that, though.....more's the pity! Half expected Ivan to jump out at the end and say something like "Lovely little runner. Owned by a little old fella who just took it up the shops and around the block occasionally". What a fantastic little car, mate! Listening to the diff, I reckon its a good thing that speedometer wasn't connected. I know from experience that having them pegged at the end for too long can upset the calibration something fierce! Great to see how a Goodwood contender acts on the open roads.....and I reckon the people in that Suzuki Swift were lost for words when you showed them the definition of "swift" and went past them in third! Man, you looked really comfortable behind the wheel of the beasty. Glad you were able to have a bit of fun on a lovely day and bring us all along for the ride. Many thanks and all the best from here in New Zealand.
My dad found an A30 for me to learn to drive on when living in NZ. Cost $50, we gave it a valve job and good tune up. Had some rust so got some bondo and fixed it. Its color was pale blue ,so I decided to paint the car same color . Bought can of enamel paint and hand brush painted it. Learn to drive in it and sold it to a bloke for $100. Wish I new the real potential in that little car. Love the car in this video.
The olde git turns his 'lane assist' off and just gets on with it! 'Tell you what Ivan, I wish you had shown us the engine. It really sings when its on cam and it looks fast in the video too. Any one who has tried filming while another is driving will know what I mean. The replay always seems so slow. Take care of your self. Bw from the Forest of Blackness. Mike
Always carry two things in the car at all times, 2 carrots and a wire coat hanger, The coat hanger is for making a new crankshaft on the side of the road while the two carrots allow you to whittle new axles if they break.
Absolutely brilliant. A league apart from our A30 😂 Just subscribed after a friend sent a link to your channel and will be using this video as inspiration. Thank you.
Oh ID what a lovely old girl..pure racer..top man putting her through the Pacers.. ha you'll end up as the oldest man to be sent on a speed awareness course.. that'll be mad.. thanks mate ..kind regards Dave 😁..ps my son Stacy is clerk of course for the mini seven club today at brands...all good fun 😊
All i can do is echo every other comment and say how enjoyable it was watching a master at work..... you still have it Ivan.... don't ever change!!... Is the gearbox straight cut??.. or just noisey??
Having just watched your latest offering I can only admire you for your enthusiasm & handling of the racing A30. For any of us oldies you are a real inspiration! Straight cut gears, limited slip diff, standing starts & where oversteer is just a flick of the wrist! I remember Ivan from the old days, always a racer. Shed Racing : the most underated motoring channel on You Tube. BBC & ITV please note!!
Haha, I "grew up" in the back seat in one of those, that is one of those and later a A35 Van with a homemade back seat (yes, you could do things like that back then) and we kids preferred the van even if there was no side windows. Because we could stand upright in front of the seat and look out the front window, that was also safe and legal back then. And lets not forget, there was more room for the smoke from the two in the front to fill up before we needed to complain about it. WAY better than the poor sods of the neighbour, two of those poor kids had to ride in the room behind the back seat on a VW Beetle, not a comfy place to be a hot summers day on a holliday roadtrip.
Ivan razzing it round like a young tearaway! I'm sure Ivan is getting younger every episode 🙂
Boy racer at heart, could teach the young 'uns a trick or 2
He has done that for me....... Much gratitude from my side.
You hooligan Ivan. I don’t think I stopped grinning all the way through that. Bloody brilliant.
And the oh so casual drifting lesson up the driveway, and a few donuts to finish it off.
Incredibly skilful hard driving AND perfectly considerate to other road users including bicycles. Pure class all the way. And what an incredible car!
Boy, that just made my day. Riding around with Ivan blasting through those roads like you were headed for the checkered flag. Thanks for that! Loved when you passed that slow car like it was standing still. WOOHOO!
I wanna be like Ivan when I grow up!! 😀 Thanks for the ride mate.
heal an toe changes the Kids won't know what that is ..great vid Ivan
sounds like straight cut gears Ivan , What a lovely thing
nope
@@shed_racing Ha Ha just a noisy diff then 😀
This was more exciting than an F1 race…💪💪
well that is true because F1 has become very boring - look at the Goodwood video of Karun Chandhok driving my car - he drove it very well in the wet
Wow I was getting an adrenaline rush just watching lord knows what you were feeling ivan 😂 bloody brilliant little car & outstanding driving Ivan 🙏👍
*What a great little car, looks very addictive*

Its just awesome to go on a ride with Ivan, felt like i was in the passenger seat. Just brill!
This was exiting! At first it looked like Mrs. Marple goes shopping but at 4:09 that´s all over. This little bugger really seems fun!
Sounds fantastic!
11:06 - Bloody hooligan... 👍👍
Sheer joy from start to finish, Ivan’s enthusiasm is incredibly infectious. Love it. Thanks for all your efforts folks!
You sure know how to pedal, Ivan. Great car. Great guy. Great video. Thank you.
Ivan, you truly are an example to us all, work ethic, knowledge and a bit of a controlled peddler too, nice!
13:18; love how Ivan slows down for the cyclist, then boots it afterwards.
What an amazing little car, what an amazing little old man.
I hope a I have half spunk you have if I make it to your age well done Ivan 😊😊👍👍
I've never grinned so much when you passed that Mercedes.😊

Drive it like you stole it. I love the A30 race series.

What a cracking little A30.
An aural and visual treat; you can almost smell the BMC plastics.
Early Autumn, a sporty little car and English country roads. Perfect.
Best wishes, Dean.
What a brilliant little car! Holds the road like a limpet and accelerates like a fighter jet!
Go on ya lad give er !!! Great to see Ivan’s passion for driving still
Absolutely marvellous - a good old Italian tune up !

I grew up driving them like I stole them, those were the good old days,it's wonderful reliving them with ivan.
Glorious sounds from that car. Good driver too.
That was brilliant. I enjoy all the cars on the channel, but I loved that A30!

What a great car and what a great area to live in to drive it on the street!
Grinning the whole video. Great stuff Ivan.

Be good. Remain safe.
It's got more than 30hp.

What a wonderful dash about the countryside.Thank you Ivan.(I even said,"Wow" out loud).
Awesome little car. I can't believe how rough and tiny those roads are. Great driving!

What a beautiful race car thank you sir for the thrilling ride 😊
Another quiet Sunday drive in the countryside. Thanks Ivan
What a car, indeed!
a great use of a A30 race car that are v tippy on track. thanks again Ivan
Great car, it reminds me of driving my track/road A35 back in the lare 1950s.
Thanks Ivan. That was just fantastic!
Excellent, looks like a bundle of fun...
Brave of Suzie to sit in the back I thought, but not unexpected.
Afraid Suzie was in Korea, the camera was mounted in the back. So no backseat driving !
I must admit she seemed to have an uncommon steady hand ! Thanks, Ivan. A great drive. @@shed_racing
Great driving! Great to see an A 30 out and about.
Once a hooligan, always a hooligan ! 😂
I bet the guy in the suv thought wtf old guy in a old car and he just left me for dead, love it ,😂🤣👍

Loved it! Thanks for the ride mister!
Ivan, it's near time you had your driveway seen to, it's got more potholes than the surface of the moon.
Lovely little A30.
That’s put a big smile on my face what a car and driver 👍
Ha Ha, fantastic stuff Ivan , she sure ain't 803 cc !!.
1300cc

Ivan you a legend, keep it up pal
All i can do is echo every other comment and say how enjoyable it was watching a master at work..... you still have it Ivan.... don't ever change!!...
Is the gearbox straight cut??.. or just noisey??
2:37 Ivan comments that there is no sound deadening at all, as it's a race car. Could account for the apparently noisy gearbox.
It looked bonkers fast with Ivan driving like a loony... But I checked the speedo and he never went over ten miles per hour!
Having just watched your latest offering I can only admire you for your enthusiasm & handling of the racing A30. For any of us oldies you are a real inspiration!
