More in-car (over the left shoulder preferably) videos with chat and info is good. Tinkering videos also. There is something about these cars. The closest I've had is a Mini (1979) and a Renault 4 (1971). Everything else is/was either sporty (eg. Spitfire), middle-sized (Dolomites, Chevette, etc.) or large (Rover P5, Mercedes Ws 108 and 116, etc.) A30s are available here in South Australia, but have become very expensive. Cheers.

What you said about why Hunt liked his A35 van was basically correct, as far as I can remember. He said in an interview that what he liked about the A35 was that he could use all the performance of the car around London, whereas he couldn't do that with most cars.
It wasn't his only car btw - when the interviewer went round to his house to speak to him, there was a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 up on blocks at the front.
    Good video by the way.

Thanks. Would love to have witnessed him ragging it around London.

They were not overshadowed by the Mini, they were overshadowed by the Morris Minor, the A35 saloon ceased in 1959 the year the Mini was launched

I mean from a design and cultural perspective.

Take a look at Gordon Murray's own car collection, they're all tiny, lightweight little cars. He knows how to make something that's fast but it's not what he personally enjoys on the road either.

Very aware of his collection. He's knows the score.

That's just it; one actually DRIVES a car like this. Modern cars? Yes, they're so much more reliable, capable, etc, etc.
But you need an open road to really derive any real pleasure from them.
Driving a car with very little power and skinny tyres forces the driver to find enjoyment at much lower speeds. You end up knowing exactly where the power comes in and how to keep the engine in that sweet spot for as long as possible. Also, brakes that aren't exactly jaw-droppingly efficient teach you how to carry speed through a corner and maintain momentum.
    Which is a long-winded way of saying they're more fun-per-mile, grins-per-mile. 😊
I had two 2CV's in the eighties and nineties and had so much fun pedalling those things around. I now drive a car with two-hundred horsepower which is far superior to any car l've ever owned but, boy, l look back on those two Citroëns with such fondness.
Our mum had an A30 and an A35 when we were young and l have many happy memories of bumbling around the countryside in them. For two pins, l'd have one as a second car...
Thank you for an enjoyable vid.
    Subbed 😊
