- 30 Austin A35’s packed the grid on a rainy Saturday at the #GoodwoodRevival. A packed driver lineup saw celebrities including Rowan Atkinson and F1 drivers like David Coulthard through to a group of BTCC champions including Andrew Jordan, Gordon Sheddon and Matt Neal.
Millions spent in F1 and this was by far much more entertaining : )

I've been binge watching all the races from this meet and this might actually be some of the very best I've seen! Also, most adorable racing ever.
Amazing how many examples of these old cars exist in race trim. Great to watch thank you!
I just figured out that Rauno Aaltonen was racing in here. He was 78 years old when this race was held four years ago and he's still alive, being 82 years now as of 2020 and still drives on various races and events. He's one of the first ''Flying Finns'' alongside Timo Mäkinen and Simo Lampinen from rallying and overall motorsport of the 1960's. He has been also training goverment officials how to transport politicians on dangerous situations. Astonishing career.

I had a 1954 A30 in the late 60s. It had a 1098 engine and a piece of channel rolled to the same profile as the rear bumper so I could attach a tow bar. I kept the 803 gear ratios and used it to tow my heavy wooden Enterprise sailing dinghy for 1000s of miles and it never missed a beat, which is more than I can say for both the Mini and Sprite that replaced it. I should have kept it.

I kept waiting for someone to wipe out on those wet patches! I thought I saw a little subtle skidding, anyway, but no disasters.

My aunty had an A30
in 1970s, 3 kids in could bearly get up a hill. Good times.
Great racer Peter Brock had an A30, powered by 186 Holden he installed

I would LOVE to own one of these...unfortunately they just don't exist in the U.S., the styling is perfect, and look how nice they respond to tweaking! 🤪

@@SubTroppo I once drove into a small town in Canada and noticed a lot of old cars being dragged out the driveway. It was an old abandoned wrecking yard and there were Austin Cambridge station wagons, Hillmans, and three Austin 40's, among many others, to be crushed at the beginning of the week because they were going to build houses on the property. In a panic I purchased the Austins and then could not find a way to get them home in time. They were crushed but I did salvage a few things. I know something about A35's and how they are structured, there suspension, weight and balance, HP and such but even for a horse and buggy Canadian, I am slack jawed, open mouthed to see anyone race one. Some things, like fried ice cream, make me realize it's better not to think about it and just go and have a lay down until it goes away.
@@thomasstuart6861 I hope you did not pay too much for the cars which were crushed. In the comments of one video about the cars someone talked about James Hunt (the Shunt) driving an A30/35. I was slack jawed at that! He was the glamour boy of F1 racing in the 1970's and it is not the sort of vehicle I would associate with him.

The whole field probably generates only about 180HP, this is racing that makes the 2021 Daytona 500 look like a badly done demo-derby.

Is it me ,but in race 1 Jordans car looked a lot more nervous than Sheldon,s,which looked really well planted!.

When I was eleven years old our teacher carried our whole football team to a game in an Austin A35.
Imagine the newspaper headlines if a school teacher carried a football team in a very small car today.
Must have been the van!
I can't believe there's that many of these cars in the country let alone set up for racing and who would actually spend the time and money to race one of these - also who have or take 2 of these spare engines to a race

One word comes to my mind : cute; old MG, Triumph, Jags are beautiful (just to name some English cars), but this is absolutely cute. I guess appeal to women must shame Ferrari owners. I would bet my money on that, if I had enough.
BTW, Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) is in number 24; seen starting at 10:29. A must see.
