We have 2 Lamborghinis to reveal, and we have 2 more cheap Porsches to reveal… Which do you want?? 🤔 Hope y’all liked this one! This Boxster really fought us the whole time, but I’m happy we were able to save another one🙏🏼
Another nice buy. As your knowledge expands, these cars become not only easier to self repair, but also to recognize issues you should avoid. Keep the great content coming.
05 987 Boxsters will also be programmed with the Old Convertible top setting for the RCM. It's possible late 05's use "New", but if the convertible top is funky this may be the reasoning.
Great video editing guys! Porsche really needs to make that rear control module water proof! Also, it would be cool if you ballpark what it would have cost to get the repairs done had you (we) needed to go to a mechanic.
Maybe even a flood car...not the first time that the auctions omit something. Front end damage was hidden very nicely with the bumper cover. Renlist is great, but your comments section is just as good.
I have two 2004 Boxsters. A base 5spd manual, and a 6spd manual 'S' model. There is a 100 pd weight difference, and yes, you can feel it behind your right shoulder. etv.
Thank you for yet another great video 😀 How about looking into cheap Taycans also? There must be so many great deals to be made as more and more used Taycans gets available
Love happy endings. I am so wanting a Boxster or Cayman, But I'm disabled with no disposable income to speak of. I will be in a position to spend $10,000 around the end of May. So I've been familiarizing myself with Copart, Auto Tempest, and others so I know where to get the most bang for my buck. And yes, JR Boxster Is a great rebrand.
- no modules, no b/s, no modern foreign crap...happy w my 914/6s & 246 & 246GT. I drive 'em hard, tune 'em fine... can't get past 1970's mid-engines! Purdue University, Aerospace Engineering Class of '68.
Great video guys! I went through the same thing with my new to me 2000 986. Question, you said this car has a rebuilt title? Did you mean a salvaged title? Or is it actually a rebuilf title. Shoot i forgot you are in Arizona! I'm in Cali!
@ my theory is by that time, the IMS was a known issue and many owners were religious about oil changes being on time and that lowered the failure rates to not be an issue anymore. It’s just a theory but on rennlist it’s a small percentage of people mentioning 2008 models with an IMS problem.
Good job guys, I've been going through all ur vids as I've just bought a 986 project. Central locking control module got wet and car doesn't unlock, with fob or key. It starts, roof, lights etc all work, so ice smashed a window to get in. How do u override the locking system?? Can u do it manually if u get ur hand to the lock ? Or is there a fuse that u can put power to ?? Can u help me ??
Like this 987 but I noticed you aren't leveling the car for the oil swap. This leaves quite a bit of the old oil in the car as you are tipping it forward and the drain plug is in the back of the pan. Small, but not so small as you also leave the crud I the pan that should be drained out every change. End of rant.
hi guys thank you for being you seeing young people play around with these buckets of bolts often not written off by the insurance company which means they make money out of something that is virtually worthless from the moment you get it but I am happy to see young people interested in improving their understanding of the motor vehicle by Porsche Regards out from down under where we have garage Queens we don’t drive them on the road because you’ll be attacked by someone wearing a blue uniform even if they see it parked, they can’t help themselves. This is an education for them because when they stop you they want to talk to you because basically nobody talk to them for Monday end of the year to the other welcome to Australia Where there is no law.
I have the 99 boxster manual in red with black interior with the rare bbs wheels I bought it for 8000 3 years ago with 85000 miles and right now it's at 97000 miles and I'm never selling it
10:00 - who cares about that and complains ? You do a proper maintenance and you will not face the issue. If you saved the money for the maintenance or hired a terrible lazy porsche technician you have learned a lesson that it might be cheaper to do proper maintenance or learned what is important for the maintenance. Makes no sense to complain cause GM had the same issues but they had put the first control units for example in the door area and when the car had not been parked in a garage the usual weak GM front window bond was leaking water into it and ran down onto the control unit in front of the passenger door where it had been stored. Why would you do that ? If you start thinking this way you end up with all control units in the roof - which no one really wants either. At least the Porsche survived 20 years and maybe another 20 years - compared to a lot of other cars that have been recycled already.
Ugh!! It’s obnoxious, overbearing, and annoying JR…the guy with a really small…uh well ah you know. He loves himself so much he never shuts up. Can you imagine having to listen to this clown all the time? Ugh! Christian must be a Saint.

I look forward to these videos. You’ve inspired my passion for these boxsters
My favorite gen is the 986. Absolutely love the sound of those boxsters 🎉
Love these boxter videos, and I'm looking forward to seeing a new lambo on the channel
I have an 05 Base 3 pedal 6 speed. It’s my second 987 and my 3rd Porsche (987,996,987).
I love her. Keep the 987 content coming boys!
Always loved where Porsche puts the ignition on the left.
05 987 Boxsters will also be programmed with the Old Convertible top setting for the RCM. It's possible late 05's use "New", but if the convertible top is funky this may be the reasoning.
Good luck with the rebuild, never an easy task! 🚗

Yes on the differences of boxsters.
JR Boxter, nice save guys great spec. Love the red on tan and that silver on red.
I think it's a good combo too!
@@JRGarage I watched the silver one after, I imagine it will be the fuse box.
YT didn't ring my bell for any of these!

Yes, salvaged (not salvage) and restored salvage are equivalent. CA vs AZ
Those 987 Boxsters are a lot of car for the money. The 2008’s are the best in terms of lowest percentage of IMS issues.
I believe 2006-2008 are all equivalent in terms of IMS reliability? All have new updated large bearing.
@ my theory is by that time, the IMS was a known issue and many owners were religious about oil changes being on time and that lowered the failure rates to not be an issue anymore. It’s just a theory but on rennlist it’s a small percentage of people mentioning 2008 models with an IMS problem.
With the dead seats, can you simply remove the relay and jump power to make it move?
Another good save. 👍
Yeah..time to time you need to drive around the block for things to work..experienced a few times myself
I would buy this from you guys in a heartbeat!
Did you unblock the roof gutter tube? Great video guys ❤
OMG, JR has an over-bite worse than Bugs Bunny’s. Ugh.
Where do you find the Rear Control Modules ?????? I look on Ebay and they are around $500.00 too expensive
Now i'm soooo sad i didn't get to buy this thing! What a nice spec!

One of the license plate bulbs are out and yes make a cheap comparison video. Why does this one have a rebuilt title?
Is the red Boxster up for sale now??

I love these videos man planes are cool too but i love a deal
Sometimes it happens that I upload my 987 videos same time as JR’s, lol. I almost snitched the Spider from you. Your bid was $100 higher :)

Sometimes you just need the car to sit, for it to get fixed eventually. 😂
Teach it a lesson 😂
Would you be willing to sell this car when done with the series? Interested.
Did you watch the full video? It is all done. The only part I left out is getting a new alignment which went perfectly.
Can you buy a very flooded 996 911 and fix it? Really want to see that experience :)

Actually, I think that's the rare Rear-Axle Steering package, the second Porsche to ever offer it*

Hahah true 😂
So a 987 doesn't suffer bore score and the 987s does?
The 3.4 s motor is the one prone to bore scoring. Early 3.2 S and base 2.7 not nearly as much.
You guys are the 987 doctors
Ooo yea love this 😍😍
What will be the final price that the Porsche would sell for?
Ever thought about Lotus?
I really want one but I don’t think I’ll fit at 6’6
Good video, but wouldn't a 03/05 manufacturing date be March instead of May?
Yes I’m saying it has to be May to be the bigger better bearing.
