I first got a copy of this from an older cousin back in 73. Loved it and constantly played it. The CD is currently sitting in my car stereo. This is what happens when you put two virtuosos together and hit "record" and just let them do their thing. It's amazing to think that this all happened because Clapton heard Duane's guitar lead on Wilson Pickett's cover of Hey Jude. Thank God that happened. I could listen to all "The Jams" on an endless loop for the rest of Time, and die a very happy man ✌️
agree - saw duane & dickey play in the warehouse in new orleans a few months before he died -- have never seen anyone since that i thought was any better -- he made beautiful music
O.M.G.! After Listening to Both of these Guitar Masters, to Hear this for the the First Time! I Thought I Died and this was the Entrance Music as I Ascend into Heaven! Thank You for the Post!
I still have this on cassette! It has been a long time since this filled my head. Listen to the Jeff Beck tribute and know why this period is so precious.
Wow, this is magic, I have to subscribe if you got more of these kind of things. Two of my favorites togheter. I mean, WOW. I love Italian food by the way 👌👍❤😎
I'M TRYING TO TELL MYSELF -- CANT REALLY DIFERENTIATE TWO DISTINCT SOUNDS OR STYLES OR WHATEVER CAN YOU ? AT LEAST I CANT - I SAW DUANE TWICE AND I CANT HONESTLY SAY I HEAR HIM ON THIS
Why compare though? It’s music not a competition. Derek is composing and leading a band and is continuing to evolve, s it doesn’t really make any sense!

These jams are good with the Dominoes band, but the ones that really impressed me are the jams off of George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass album. Those are kick ass too!
No Duane Allman there and that definitely makes a difference for me. The Dominoes were marvellous even before being The Dominoes, when they were Delaney & Boney's band. But with Duane Allman joining in... well, that's another dimension in my book
Dos grandes una pena que Duane nos dejara tan pronto .hay otra sesión con Eric clapton y Freddie king bestial .que envidia dan los que lo operan en vivo
I ended up figuring it out, it’s quite unusual. But basically one fret up from root position on the D, G, and B strings you want to pre-bend them all with the little or ring finger and release while strumming. Sounds awesome and I’d say unique to Duane!
@@teetomthomasactually, you’re absolutely right I think the first time I heard it, the tone, the chordal and modal style licks threw me off. Neck pickup Les Paul into a bright Fenderish amp, certainly not woman tone… 😅 But yeah, absolutely! I do hear it now, and he still uses a similar hat of licks heard in this today. Great ear man!
Extremely addictive, I don't know how many times, hours, days i've listened to the whole album, come back again and again.

Great story.
Also a tribute to Eric Clapton's humility, to be willing to recognize someone better than himself.
I’m not sure why there is only 1 comment on here. I’ll make it two. This jam is ridiculously amazing!
Duanes licks and tone will forever be unmatched. Simply greatest player of his t😢
Derek Trucks comes damn close. closer than anyone else.

I wish there where on line film of these two, Derak Domino's etc
They were so good. Such talent.

there are some amazing souls on thos planet these two are beneath them for sure
Share this jam far and wide, this music should never be forgotten
Damn straight Brother 👍
Why didn't someone video these two playing together is one of the great mysteries
No mention here of the great drumming. Jim Gordon at his best - understated - just understands what to play for every particular song.
great jam in an elegant and clean style very expressive
~ And Let’s Not Forget The Legendary Producer Behind It All:
Tom Dowd *
Duane absorbed a lot of Eric Clapton during these sessions. Thanks for posting.
And Vice Versa

Fantastico
This goes in the ear just fine, and their other 2 jam discs are also fantastic with this set.
So many fans of Duane can’t actually tell that he isn’t playing on this cut, it’s Eric.
Sorry, but I am hearing a lot of Duane's "scalded dog" tone and his signature licks.

@@jimnagel5611 Yes. I hear one guitarist, and it’s unmistakably Eric Clapton.
@@mitchellschwartz2148 This is a Derek and The Dominoes session. Eric Clapton, Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle and Jim Gordon. Duane was not in the room.
I love Derek Trucks but the few people that are saying he's better than Duane Allman obviously need to listen to a little bit more music.
AGREED - HE'S GOOD -- DEFINITELY NOT ANY BETTER IMHO

@5:18 How does Duane (edit: ERIC) do that??

If Hendrix is God, Duane Allman is the sun !
As far as I know only Eric playing guitar on this tune. Not Duane.
This one is all Duane, right? Can’t believe I’ve never heard it before.
No. This is Eric not Duane.
Duane has and always will be my favorite. His work on Stormy Monday is unequalled in my opinion. But this is great
duane's guitar playing on the fillmore HAS YET TO BE EQUALED!!!!!
