Extremely addictive, I don't know how many times, hours, days i've listened to the whole album, come back again and again.

I first got a copy of this from an older cousin back in 73. Loved it and constantly played it. The CD is currently sitting in my car stereo. This is what happens when you put two virtuosos together and hit "record" and just let them do their thing.
It's amazing to think that this all happened because Clapton heard Duane's guitar lead on Wilson Pickett's cover of Hey Jude. Thank God that happened. I could listen to all "The Jams" on an endless loop for the rest of Time, and die a very happy man ✌️

      Great story.
Also a tribute to Eric Clapton's humility, to be willing to recognize someone better than himself.

No mention here of the great drumming. Jim Gordon at his best - understated - just understands what to play for every particular song.

    • @3rdtonefromthesun

I ended up figuring it out, it’s quite unusual.
But basically one fret up from root position on the D, G, and B strings you want to pre-bend them all with the little or ring finger and release while strumming. Sounds awesome and I’d say unique to Duane!

@@teetomthomasactually, you’re absolutely right I think the first time I heard it, the tone, the chordal and modal style licks threw me off.
Neck pickup Les Paul into a bright Fenderish amp, certainly not woman tone… 😅 But yeah, absolutely!
I do hear it now, and he still uses a similar hat of licks heard in this today.
