Stopping suger has been expensive to me. I lost so much of myself. I lost 25 lbs, I lost painful joints, I lost my depression, I lost my diabetes, It ruined my brand new leather belt, it now has several more holes in it. A good life is expensive, but I am so grateful for finding Dr. Berry.

I was a sugar addict eg. 8 teaspoon of sugar in my coffee and had sore joints, overweight, lots of cavities and feeling miserable. Quit cold turkey upon listening to your videos on Keto diet. Never had sugar at all since Oct 1. Was 274 lbs and this morning Nov 18 I’m 239 lbs and feel like I’m 20 at 56. If it wasn’t for your informative videos, I would still be in pain and miserable. Thanks Dr Berry

8 teaspoons? Hell I wish that was all I was doing. I used to turn the sugar container on its side and just push a ton in the huge yeti cup. A 3 day water/salt fast broke my sugar cravings.

Still struggling myself. I have a bad, bad sugar jones. I even did the 3 day water fast and ate sugar immediately after. Went without sugar for 3 months and fell off again. It makes me depressed. I'm still trying, but I'm set up for failure at work with all the sweets around. Good thing we're moving soon.
Ironically, I seem to be in pretty good health. Normal BMI, low blood pressure, no real health problems. But I know this is a problem. I don't want to rot from the inside out. But I would eat a donut right now if it was available to me. :/

I have to tell you Dr. that I’m in a nursing home and when I went on Keto, I couldn’t believe the garbage like sugar, grains, dairy, fructose, pasta, breads, sweets, etc., etc., etc., they were giving me. They even have a Dietician lol, that’s suppose to be making sure we eat right What a laugh!!! Keep us here to get their money and watch us die. Pandemic of our times is obesity (some people are skinny on the out side, fat in the inside).
And I'm just amazed at how ignorant some people are, not those who dont know, I was one of them 6 months ago, but those who knowingly try to cover up the benefits of keto & IF.
You are doing a wonderfull job Dr. Berry, may further success follow you in your efforts.

    Dr. Berry,
I was prescribed medication for anxiety. It was out of control. Quite worse than I ever imagine anxiety to ever be. I read somewhere that a high fat, high protein diet can reduce anxiety. I decided to research that specific topic and I landed on this channel. It’s been 3 months of a carnivore diet and I have almost zero anxiety and I am freed from medication. I feel and look better than ever and my health is overall 10x it was in a matter of a few months. Thank you.

In late July you issued a challenge to eat only beef, butter, bacon, and liver for 30 days. I took the challenge. I am now at day 110 without carbs (except raisins, sorry, could not resist), down from 262 to 228 (without exercise), and will get my bloodwork done soon. So, you asked how many symptoms I have now, NONE! How many did I have before accepting your challenge, 4 out of 11.

Thirst. irritable bowel. Frequent urination not so much. Depression not so much any more, but anxiety. Blood pressure. Cavities. Have changed to keto carnivore, but still snack refined carbs and sugar. Arthritic pain in some joints, sometimes. Sweet taste I think is the main reason, and savory taste. Thank you, this information filled in the blanks on why keto carnivore was not quiet doing enough for me, clearly was my snacking that did not allow Keto carnivore to be fully effective on me. Never thought of boiled eggs for snacking when it strikes, been trying to use Sardines and pilchards, but I always use to love boiled eggs by itself.

You used to get an amount of endorfins from both smoking and carbohydrates.
You stopped smoking and want to get the same amount endorphins consuming other stuff, sugar for example.
So you just exchange one consuming addiction to another.

Angular cheilitis and excessive sweating. I suffered ftom that for years, i started watching your vedios, i stopped all sugars and refined carbs, immediately, started eating keto and naturally produced foods, plants and animal products , in just over one month, all my symptoms disappeared, i lost weight, which wasn't on my lust, because i wasn't overweight, but i was ok with that, my belky Bloating disappeared, migraines are less frequent and joint pain is more manageable. I feel wonderful at 56. I'm surprised when I tried eating sugars again, i felt like it was drilling a hole in my tongue. I have no cravings and feeling like a new person.

Dr. Berry, thank you for your informative videos. I have learned a lot about how the body works. I am a 66 yr old diabetic. I have high BP and high cholesterol. My last A1c was 6.0, which is the lowest it has been since I was diagnosed almost 12 years ago. My highest was 7.1. I take Metformin and since it was in good control, I didn't care what I ate. I am addicted to dark chocolate and I give in to my craving whenever it hits. Then a couple weeks ago, I checked my fasting BS and it was over 150. About that time I found your videos and started watching them. I decided to eliminate carbs altogether. Then I read about how Metformin can actually make T2 worse, so last night I decided to see what happened if I did not take it. My BS was 97 when I went to bed last night and this morning it was 112. Normally I range from 100-115 in the morning. In the 7 days since I started, I have lost over 4 pounds. My skin does not keep me awake with intense itching now and when I got up this morning I was not so stiff and I could walk a lot easier. Since 2017, I have basically lived in my power chair and it has been getting harder to stand while cook or clean afterwards. This is not going to heal my lumbar DDD nor will it replace the cartilage in my hip, but I am hoping this new way of life will eliminate some of my pain. I tried KETO once but it didn't last. This time I am eating protein and fat and eliminating plants from my diet. I truly think that because I am allergic to many plants, that I should not eat any plant based food. Thank you!!

Been doing keto/carnevour now about two years.
Occasional sugar treats for me sometimes result in hangover type headaches.
But something weird happened just recently. While I was sick for a couple days with a sinus issue I was miserable. Fever, weak, tired, aching head. I was craving nothing but heavily buttered toast. After having some (and no other foods because everything else was unappetizing) I was very quickly relaxed and able to get quality sleep. I'm well now.
I'm a huge believer in keto/carnevour and the proper human diet. I plan on continuing for life but I'm sharing the above experience of mine to show that in a strange way maybe there is a place and a use for bread.

I don't have any of those signs while I'm IF and keto but I can seem to adopt the lifestyle full-time. I always go back for at least a while. Birthdays and holidays especially. I'm afraid I'll never completely quit sugar. Here lately I've been doing IF and keto through the week and going plum crazy on the weekends but I maintain that way at least.

Unfortunately I'm a sugar addict and I have most of the symptoms described above including type 2 diabetes and ED.....I struggle to get off sugar, it's worse than alcohol addiction because there's no shame in overeating sugar.

    • @JezaGaia
      @JezaGaia 4 роки тому +4

you might want to give a try to the carnivore diet, at least for a year or so. Think about it alcoholics are not told to limit their alcohol consumption, they're told to remove all alcohol.
Even on a low carb diet you still are eating carbs and triggering cravings, removing all carbs on a carnivore diet is easier than trying to balance a bit of carbs but not too many.
If it doesn't work for you long term do it for 6 months only it should at least allow you to reset your gut microbiome and taste buds and this will help with cravings.
If your gut microbiome is made of bacteria that feeds on carbs those bacteria can trigger cravings to be fed, removing them removes that part of the cravings.
If your taste buds get used to no sweet taste it becomes harder to eat those very sweet foods.

I have gone to natural peanut butter which has no sugar, so I have started to adjust.

I have most of them... but the good news is that I am transitioning to an antiinflammatory/keto-vore diet. In the last several weeks, weight has started dropping off of me, my abdomen is much flatter, the outward signs of inflammation (psoriasis) have reduced, and I expect more good things to come! I have metabolic syndrome, fibromyalgia, two coronary artery blockages, super high cholesterol, osteo and psoriatic arthritis... oh, and 20 years of subsisting on pain meds, because I had no idea there was a better way! So I am very hopeful.

Nice comments and video. I gave up sugar and now no longer have tooth pain, my asthma has improved and best of all, I don't have those horrible mood/hunger swings throughout the day. But to do this properly I take my glasses with me when I shop and read labels (which I did not used to do!) Fructose, artificial sweeteners etc are even worse than natural sugar. I had to educate myself about these things because food companies disguise them. I try to avoid anything processed - just eat natural. If it's in plastic it's probably not without added ingredients.

Thanks so much for all your input, Dr. Berry. I have 8 of these, but have started cutting carbs and have already dropped some weight. There is so much confusion out there and I now listen to you and Dr. Westman and I am reversing all the harm done to myself over the decades. Having FH, I did the "low fat" eating for decades and nothing improved. Then I developed diabetes thanks to statins and things steadily got worse until I came across your videos (and Dr. Westman's) and I have been doing a LOT of listening since then. Once one knows what to do, it becomes so much easier. I want to get off a bunch of meds I am on and have already stopped two of them. Seeing some signs of improvement, but it's still early days for me. Your videos are life-saving. Blessings on you.

Sugar is really difficult to stop, but I've noticed as I have decreased over the past few years, it doesn't taste that great anymore and I actually get mouth ulcers and little blisters on my lips if I eat added sugar crap carb foods. I'm a recovering carb/sugar holic as most people are!! And these symptoms are more what happens now since reducing my intake. You would think this should make it easy to give up, but I'm human and unfortunately relapse 🙈but taking each day as they come, and I know I've changed so much with my good choices in the last 4years so that's a plus 😊

I had 10 of those signs before they diagnosed me. Complained for years. They upped the dose of xanax for the anxiety. Bloodwork showed for 4 years I was a raging diabetic. I talked to the dietician and thought you know what, you are out of your mind. Thank you VA for being COMPLETELY WRONG AGAIN! Down to 25 carbs a day, lost near 30 lbs, blood pressure back to normal, off two of the three meds for diabetes and then I ate shrimp tonight dipped in cocktail sauce, SPIKE. That's off the list, hidden sugar. I'll toss the rest of the shrimp in olive oil, garlic and lemon juice tomorrow. Backing off the xanax gradually, sleep better than I have in years.

I started the keto diet in August, with it turning into carnivore/ketovore after a few weeks. I had weaned myself off of sugar with different sweeteners like monkfruit, xylitol, or erythritol. I only had it once a day in my coffee. When toying with the idea of fasting, I decided to give up the sweeteners as well. Within TWO DAYS, the "eczema" on my hands was gone! No more inflammation or cracked skin! My husband experiments with ancient grain flours sometimes for baking, but one day we chose something else the local grocer had in stock. Bad idea. Inflammed skin. Enkhorn flour doesn't seem to bother me. So I don't have eczema, I have a reaction to a plant based food. I can't wait to tell my doctor! 🤣

I keep waking up in the night, and I was thinking it was due to anxiety/depression, but after seeing this video, I can now see the writing on the wall. After another night of waking up from just a few hours of sleep, I came across this video. The doctor revealed a shocking side effect I didn’t suspect until now…my chronic thirst, which feels like a chronic sore throat. For decades, I’d treat my sore throats with cough drops…which contain sugar! A catch-22, for sure. And once I go down that rabbit hole of consuming sugar…my body wants more sugar!

Hi, I just thought I'd share this.
Almost all brands of toothpaste and mouthwash contain sugar in the form of Sucralose.
Which is listed on ingredients of the product.
I put this to the test recently using the Listerine 10 in 1 Zero alcohol mouthwash.
I fasted for 36 hours then consumed 100ml of the mouthwash (I don't recommend people do this).
The results on my blood glucose was almost identical to the diabetes blood glucose 2 hour test!
