Great update, Teik! I have the same mixed feelings with my Field Boots, you know, those two moments. But still, I think these are some of my favorite boots, very different from the others. I have them in the Earth and Brown CXL and found them very supple; maybe it is the nature of those leathers.
Regarding sizing, I went a full size down and one width up (8E), and they feel great! I thought a half-size down in my regular D width could be too long.
BTW, I love the cap! Cheers mate!

Ordered these today, grant stone told me to stick with my Leo last 1/2 size down. Got them in chromexel. I’ll let you know the fit

I'm a 10 D left foot and 9.5 D right foot. The 9.5 D boot was too long for my right foot. So now I'm going to try a 8.5 E.

The toebox has a lot of volume and I had to go down a full size from my Brannock when I got my Field Boots.

Teik, for the lacing you might try leather laces. I have the Field boot in black Chromexcel and I put in leather laces and found it was much easier to lace them up tightly.

Been waiting for this one. I think I’ll finally buy a pair.

You know, that quip about the numzaan boots in the end got me thinking. Did you feel any difference underfoot wearing heritage goodyearwelted versus heritage stitchdown. In GYW style welted boots, there is always going to be a filler layer unless you go all the way up to budget to handwelting where they use holdfast instead. In stitchdown on the otherhand, you get to have leather from insole all the way to outsole once you go up to PNW level budget.

First thing I did was replace the laces for some more heavy duty ones. Those let me tie them around my dainty ankles much more rigidly which made the leather hug my heels more tightly. I definitely had heel slip until that formed better. I do agree and Im not a fan of their wedge sole. The vibrams on my Rancourts are infinitely better.

Great video! So do you think I should go down a full size down for brass boot?
How do you keep your wedge soles so clean!?

Good chance a full size down from Brannock will work

This boot on their lug sole would be a hit. The wedge is great for casual use, but I figure not as tough. Love the color on the leather.

With thick socks on my brass boots fit perfectly but my identically sized field boots are a little large. I think its the extra room at the front throwing me off. They're okay but I prefer a more snug fit.

I have the same boots. With the same issues! I actually stopped wearing them if it's going to rain. I need the lateral traction. I put leather laces in and it helps. I have very mixed feelings on the D rings. I also feel that I should have went another half size down.

    Grant Stone's Floyd last runs quite a bit larger than their other lasts. I'm a 9.5 brannock, and the size 9 Brass Boots are c a v e r n o u s without inserts.

I’ve worn mine a lot, and I agree on the sizing. They are distinctly too big at a half size down. I should have gone a full size down. If I wear very thick socks and tie them with a heel lock technique (you can google it), the heel slip is tolerable. But they are not the great walking boots that I was hoping for because of the sizing. On the bright side, they are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn for standing long hours. I have stood watching my daughter’s track meets for five hours and was amazed at how my feet and legs did not get tired.

I went a full size down and after breaking in they fit more like a tight sneaker, but I kept my same brannock width

Thanks on the heel lock idea, I'll try it and see how it goes

My Badelassi tan brass boots have a ton of pipey creasing, and indelible sweat stains in the upper, and the wedge sole is heavily stained. Not the same boot but the same materials and mine look very different from yours. Mine are my most comfortable footwear that I own. Better even than my Brooks running shoes, for walking. Love them but they aren’t pretty.

These Badalassi leathers don't really stretch though. Generally quite firm in temper. It has been noted by many that yes the Field boots are just a little roomier than the Brass boot, especially in the heel. So I think it's just the pattern design. Likewise, in the Leo last, some have noted the Garrison boot is slightly narrower than the Diesel in the same size. Meant to be the same, but somehow, it's a little different.

On sizing, I found the same thing with my Brass boots ( on the same last). I should have gone down a full size...I saw some advice on one of the Dale's leather works videos about going down a size but up a width. I haven't tried it, but would be interested to hear if anybody has

I was sitting here thinking the stiffness issues would be a turn off, then I remembered I’m 6’2” and 250 pounds and that might tame these differently than your own frame haha.

1 year old and the rubber wedge sole looks pristine. Have you ever considered that you have so many boots that one year of ownership for you is only like one month of ownership for people with less boots? Idk, maybe it's just the title of "1 year review" that bugs me. To most people that means being worn for the majority of one year.

I sorta agree but i honestly take these longer term reviews as a "updated review" on how they wear and how his experience is different from mine (i have black cxl diesels with leather soles and field boot in crimson cxl). And there are not many long term reviews of grant stone boots, so i can appreciate that Tiek for making these.
