Japanese Tissue Repair

Our conservator had numerous tears to repair using Japanese tissue and wheat starch paste. All repairs are applied to the back of the paper document. There was a paper loss at the corner in which the conservator is adding a larger Japanese tissue support. It is important to choose a Japanese tissue that is the appropriate weight and color for the work on paper. The tissue repair is applied beyond the edge of the paper and is then trimmed after local flattening and drying.
