It's really nice to see someone covering some of the lesser-known mechs that debuted during the IlClan era! I didn't even know the Sojourner or Thresher Mk II existed until today, and I've been following BT on and off for years.
Imagine the Firestorm with a Clan partial wing and regular jump jets, that equals 5 tons instead of the 7 tons of the Improved JJ and still get the same mobility. Use the two tons left over for an additional DHS and an ECM suite. Also, 9 tons of clan FF is the max that can be normally mounted, so no extra armor there. this design, while having a higher BV overall is actually cheaper by about 900,000 standard credit unit. The Wendigo was actually a Clan Nova Cat design that Clan Sea Fox had access to, though Ramial had them redesign with a more traditional cockpit instead of a torso mounted one. The Thresher Mk II is probably going the way of the dinosaurs, but the Firestorm is a very good garrison mech for dealing with pirates and insurgents, which most of the Clans will have to deal with, sooner or later. Not a glorious job, but one that needs doing. It also has a pretty solid following among Wolf and Sea Fox warriors.
02:08. They kind of forgotten that the present Wolf IlKhan despite being a "trueborn" was the descendant of a Inner Sphere merc and the previous Falcon IlKhan was a firm believer in "scorched earth" warfare en par with a Blakist.
I absolutely love the Jade Falcons illclan era mechs, I even got an entire company of them, just one or two others. The Bears and the Scorpions also have a few designs I love. But ironically the Wolves just seem to have the weakest of the new mech designs. I mean I love the totem more lupine looks, but in terms of actual armaments they are pretty much bad across the board, with one or two exceptions. And even then their over reliance upon some fancy technologies make them a pain to play
I heard a rumor that the Clans breed some folks to be piolts specifically for small cockpits. For you folks that live closer to that side of the galaxy, is this a thing?
So if they always wanted to take over Terra, then does that mean that Aleksander Kerensky wanted to be First Lord? What was his true motivations? Clans tend to be Megalomaniacal; they seem to think they are "fated" to rule.

@@cobalt968 The Sojourner is one that has some potential, while I expect the Mark II to disappear after that one book.
Ion Sparrow is so good. I love zooming in and getting awesome rear armors.

Acquires Jade Phoenix, puts one jump jet on it. Jump like an urbanmech, sting like "IS THAT TWO HAG 40s?!"
@@christopherpurches2774 I mean... That is like 8 Urbanmech duck taped together.
You Bears have the same mentality we do at times.
Imagining the Dominator as a Super-Premium version of the Ford F-150...

@@Based_Lord_Humongous Probably one of the coolest looking design in that lot.

The Crucible is the soul exception for Clan Wolf that thing is a monster
@@spacewolfblackmane19 All those new machines were built to be super mobile, once you dig into it.

The real winner was Clan Sea Fox.

Yes. By a huge margin.

You are thinking of his son. His greatest mistake.
