There is definitely some Ac/Dc influence on a couple of songs they recorded that have ac/dc like riffs at the beginning and go into something different that sounds like them . I think it's very cool.

I appreciate the solid bass line and rhythm in this song. I just listened to an interview with the bassist, Royal Masat. He says he loves playing bass because it makes music danceable. So true.

This was great. May I throw in as a 68 yr old, I really love hearing organ in rock songs. It's rich and warm. My favorite time working at a music shop was when the piano tuner took time out to play some organ drawing my attention to the Leslie speakers spinning slowly, fast or not at all. I'd wondered how the intensity and swells got in there. Thanks for this analysis, Fil: new band to me.

Thanks Fil, this is my first listening to this band and I'm planning to listen to more as soon as I finish this comment and check the 'thumbs up' icon. My first impression is that they don't sound like anyone else and that's a good thing if they have a signature sound that stands out. I 'do' think the singer's voice has kind of a Neil Young quality to it, but it's like hearing NY doing something he's never done and that's a treat.

As the song nears the end it almost sounds like it is ready to speed up and open up an opportunity for faster lead solos. They could certainly add it. Really gifted guys.
Let's face it Fil if your invited on Jools, talent is pretty much always guaranteed. His show is the natural progression from The Old Grey Whistle Test. Back in the day bands loved the presenter's of TOGWT because they championed all styles of music. Jools is the same but plays, so an added dimension to a live show. Shine on Fil.....
Great choice Wings of Pegasus. Blackerry Smoke are OUTSTANDING. Saw them first on "Colbert" in 2017 and then fell upon the BBC featuring them even before that. Wow. Styx had brothers on bass and drums, as well. Never occurred to me how that might have helped cement the rhythm section of that band. They started playing together as teens! The story goes that Denis was walking by the house and heard them playing- and was stopped in his tracks. Then had to go in, introduce himself, and ask if they wanted to form a band, lol. A great rhythm section is so important- it makes everyone sound better.
First I've heard of these guys. Pretty good work! I tend to really like the Allman Brothers Band and Marshall Tucker Band when it comes to Southern Rock. These guys here have a really great sound. 👍👍👍👍
Seen BBS a couple of times, great shows. Got a chance to meet them, talk and get my CD signed, really nice guys. The reason I like them is exactly how Fil describes them, combo of southern and other types of rock. One show I saw they did Fairies Wear Boots for the encore.

Apropos of nothing, the name reminds me of a band called Blackberry Winter that was the only band that came to play in the small town where I'm from (not counting local area bands, of course). One of the first, if not the first concert I ever saw. They were pretty good but never hit it big--maybe because they mostly did covers, I think, but they hold a special place in my memory. A google search shows they have been around since the sixties--"before the Beatles"--but hung it up around 2008. Not to be confused with a folk/bluegrass band of the same name that is still around.
Yeah, he's got a really good voice for sure and I like that he has the ability and guts to let his voice ring out. Nice gritty rough rock and boy you nailed it Fil. Bands like this can and do rock it live because that's how rock sounds best.

One of my favorite bands since I finally listened to them on you tube late last summer. I have since purchased every studio record i could get on vinyl and the first two albums I could only find on cd. I dont have the live record yet but i hope i can still find a vinyl copy. The dvd conerts i have seen available are in my future as well. I heard of them a few years ago and have no idea why I didn't listen to them. I found out they did a song with Oliver Wood from the wood brothers and I had to here the song "mother mountain" since I'm a fan. I was moved by Blackberry Smoke songs on Find a light to say the least. There is not one song i dislike on there records.When i play BlackBerry Smoke music i usually pick which album and play it all the way through! I need to go to a Blackberry Smoke concert! I know they are doing shows with another favorite band of mine Tedeschi trucks band in the summer

I discovered this Band quite a while ago, Love them!. Also great acoustically. Charlie Starr & his mate can do a 45 min set and Charlie does everything from Blues, spontaneous humour, through Americana & folk! Will try to send you a link. Oh, did I say I love everything they do .?

One of my favorite bands since I finally listened to them on you tube late last summer. I have since purchased every studio record i could get on vinyl and the first two albums I could only find on cd. I dont have the live record yet but i hope i can still find a vinyl copy. The dvd conerts i have seen available are in my future as well.
I heard of them a few years ago and have no idea why I didn't listen to them. I found out they did a song with Oliver Wood from the wood brothers and I had to here the song "mother mountain" since I'm a fan.
I was moved by Blackberry Smoke songs on Find a light to say the least. There is not one song i dislike on there records.When i play BlackBerry Smoke music i usually pick which album and play it all the way through!
I need to go to a Blackberry Smoke concert!
I know they are doing shows with another favorite band of mine Tedeschi trucks band in the summer
