It's insane, now most of us just use Google like a calculator on a math test. I pay attention to everything he speaks on as to how he got here and his progression of business because we function better without needing the crutch(calculator) and it's nice when someone can point out some booby traps to not step in. My biggest take away from him is I need to get my ass in a higher gear. It's conceivable that to really learn from one's mistakes you almost have to just throw yourself blind into problems and learn your way out.
FINALLY, a Friday evening with the most badass father/daughter combo out there!! Awesome Willy's!!! "you may be cooool, but you're not pulling a blown, alcoholic 392 out of a Willy's... WITH YOUR NAME ON THE TIMING CHAIN COVER cool" 😅😅
Absolutely love Dennis Willies and the hemi could listen to you talk about that all day. Alex your relationship with your dad is so awesome you two deserve all the success. Love y’all.
Dennis…you say you have a bad memory 🤦♂️ you have probably forgotten more about motors than many of us have ever known. The diary is the most valuable advice you can give any Motörhead (or anyone really). We all have projects that we don’t get back to as soon as we think…and we NEVER remember as much as we think we do or will…over document and take pictures…with todays technology it is much easier and doesn’t have to be pen and paper…zip-locks and a Sharpie plus a camera and video…I will use the “speech to text” to dictate notes even. 99% of it will never be looked at again…but for that 1% it is all worth it.
I remember the first time I pulled headers off of a 440 and coolant was pouring out of the bolt hole my Chevy mind could not comprehend what was happening!
I love the interaction with you and your dad! Me and my dad were like this, along with some good arguments lol, cherish these moments Alex! Lucky for you,it's recorded! I lost my dad 20 years ago and I still miss him!
I really love these family style videos. It’s super interesting watching y’all wrench on this old school Willys knowing what you know about race cars now.
The next time you loose audio I think Dennis should speak for Alex and Alex for Dennis😂 It is so cool to see Dennis say I couldn't find a timing cover so I made a mold and cast one. That is the type of hot rodder that is from a time before... making rockers is another thing that is just too cool. Thank you for keeping us posted!
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he was successful..............many tried , failed and gave up.............serious geometry issues on those old hemi 's..........just looking at the angles is scary.............
I’m really glad you started down this road with your dad and that neglected old school project car. I’m older and I like your dad, even though I still like and follow you Alex. On UA-cam and Motortrent. There’s still a lot to be learned from the old man, I believe. Before we put him out to pasture. LOL (I think I’m older than him)
I think Dennis is around my age ( in his 60s) but he is still kicking but and not slowing down that much but it's coming...i admire this man as a great dad first and his knowledge of building hotrods second.
I have always thought one day they'll ( the Taylor's) Do Something with the Blue 41 Gasser for some vintange Race. Man, so glad to see you pump Life back into my Fav Gasser (A 41 willy's) Fav since I went to the Last Lion's Dragstrip race in Dec 72, my first Drag race ever.
Crane Ignition units were also good until Harvey Crane passed away, and then I don't know if they started using cheaper components but the quality wasn't there anymore
Alex you an inspiration not only to your fans your dad Dennis to he really didn't seem interested in the gasser rebuild. Glad you have such a great connection with Dennis love your channel
I feel ya on the "past that" chapter in your life... 😂 I bought a great car from a friend like you for the same reason... He kept the engine and found the problem a few months later. It was a simple fix that he had just not expected. I was extactic because it meant my first tube chassis, narrowed rear, tilt front cap race car. ❤️ As a teenage kid, a dream come true 😊 God is good
Holy macaroni, the records you kept in your Das’s binder is quite impressive! I wish I could be a tenth of organized as that! 🙃 He is certainly a wealth of knowledge and that is such a cool car.
Dennis, I'm 81' and I can't remember names in 10 sec and there after. Don't feel lonesome. Oh I've had this problem for quite sometime. Keep up the great video's.
And just like any muscle the brain needs constant work outs !!! My memory is Swiss cheese an with holes where you could park a semi in !!! Always Keep your mind occupied !!!
That is so great to see the Willys getting some much needed attention. The information Dennis puts out about this build has my undivided attention. I can't wait to see more. Many thanks for this update.
Traveled, wrenched w/a BB/FC in the early 80's I think. Lots of 92's went through that thing, eventually it had a couple of Donovan's were it. Lot of trips to local machine shop to mag cranks. It was around the time KB's were taking over. To get it in a Nation event show usually the blower wound up hanging from the fuel lines. it had some kind of connection to KS!
HI ALEX AND DENNIS . LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY !! WOW THE ENGINE LOOKED GREAT FOR WHAT FOR NOT NOTHING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT !! THANK YOU FOR YOUR STUFF . TODD FROM MICHIGAN .
Great content...So happy to just see the immediate family without any contribution from those that are not Taylor family...Nolan is like family and enjoyable to see him
.................at 73,,,,,,,,,i still write [ script ] my needs , project aims . results , procedures ......all into spiral notebooks..............have my many decades of old library to lean on.......what works for me needs no changes.................
I'm in South East Louisiana and in '05 I backed my '89 Iroc Z in my garage. I bought it new in 1988 and used to drive it weekends. Well it' haven't been out since then. So I know how it is easy to have time slip away .
I am horrible with names, i have cousins that i can be talking to and think to myself, "Who is this?". I literally have to see you everyday, for you to sit in my mind at all
I hear Angles sweet murmurings... i always hear Angels when a video drops. I heard Angels right about when Alex began to talk, you might say a coincidence but i think not!!!
Good video, glad the motor isn't hurt. Gassers and F/X cars are what got me addicted to drag racing as a kid (yes I'm old 😁) and still love it. Can't wait to see it at the track
As always, delightful❕️Alex, thanks💙, Meg ❤ thank you❕️& Denis ( teach ) Thank You, the 392 Hemi is like you said, " a thousand H P. engine, built like a 5,000 H.P engine. So very many, and all top shelf parts. So glad you kept most of your cars. And your right, you have a huge hard drive, it's the old in us that doesn't let us retrieve it fast as we once did, but it's all still up there. Thanks Taylor Family. Love yall 💙🧡💜💚❤. ✌🏻🧡 🇨🇦.
Eagle One Etching Formula Mag Wheel Cleaner. For the satin finish on cast covers. Has a mix of Hydrofluoric acid and a soap which actually strips a thin layer of alum off. Truck Stop Washers use the Hydro acid straight, to strip Commercial wheels and fuel tanks, headache racks and running boards, ect that ARE NOT painted, but just rough aluminum(or machined) aluminum. The Truck Stop Wash usually use a neutralizer for the stuff, but you can just use alot of water for rinsing and accomplish the same goal. It pretty much will sterilize the metal it cleans off, and that's noo joke. Keep it out of your eyes!. Really cool to see the custom work on the 392. Thanks for sharing all that time invested and hard fought knowledge. Can't wait to hear it run!!!. Keep him going Alex!. I think he it starting to like The Monster again. It keeps pulling you back in, just when you thought you were out!!.
