I used to enjoy watching him when he was on PBS. I love that Justin is using a huge bowl to combine his ingredients. I don’t get why so many chefs/cooks try to mix things up in a bowl that the ingredients barely fit into. I guess it’s a pet peeve of mine. I don’t have a bowl as large as Justin’s, but I keep my old enameled roaster around just to toss ingredients together. I never roast in it anymore, but it’s my go to for things like this macaroni salad. I put the finished salad into smaller containers or serving bowls once it’s done.
Agree 100%! When I find a very, very large bowl, I grab it up, only because I too do not wish to have all of my ingredients barely move because the bowl it too small.

He wasn’t a real Cajun. While Wilson presented himself as Cajun in his act, it is unclear if he had any actual Acadian or French ancestry. His father Harry Wilson was of Welsh descent. Justin Wilson described his mother, the former Olivet Mintern Toadvin (1880-1976), as Cajun, but she has no known ancestors who either were Acadian, lived in the Cajun regions of Louisiana, or emigrated from France. (She did, however, teach Justin how to cook.) Her surname Toadvin derives from a native of Guernsey who immigrated to Maryland circa 1675. The Florida Parishes, where the family lived, were not part of the French or Spanish colonies of Louisiana.

Think I saw him once decades ago, but I learned to cook artichokes because of him. As for the salad, I don't know why people don't just put a bunch of the noodle mix in the bowl with the dressing. It helps clean the dressing off the sides of the bowl when you dump it back into the main bowl.

My late mom and dad loved watching his shows and they had all of his cookbooks. I still have those cookbooks and use recipes from it from time to time. Mom used to make his macaroni salad all of the time, but she made a minor modification by using pimentos and sliced black olives, instead of pimento stuffed green olives, as some of us in the family were allergic to green olives. That's the way I make mine and it is always a big hit at family gatherings. Delicious!
Watching Mr. J Wilson cook and hearing him speak makes me think of my father in law, Moose Thibodeaux. Justin Wilson is a national treasure: I learned from him the importance of cooking with wine you can (and should) drink, and the importance of precise measurements after drinking that wine.
My grandma and I would watch him on PBS. I really miss our bonding together over this show. I love her and I hope they are both chatting it up in the afterlife and making some good food for all of heaven to marvel at!
I used to love watching Justin Wilson on PBS station, long before the Food Network Station cooks. I remember I also watched Marcia Adams, who cooked Amish food, Martin Yan from Yan Can Cook and Chef Jacque Pepin. Must try his recipes, I guaaaruntee ( lol!) I will love them!
I used to watch all of those cooks too! I wonder what happened to "yan", really enjoyed him! 😊
@@lilliankrajenka8713 I live in England now ( originally from Maryland), and there’s a tv chef over here called Rick Stein and he did a television series two years ago and travelled from San Francisco down and through Mexico. Anyway, he met up with Martin Yan, looked the same but aged a little bit. Still has the same sweet smile and said the same old corny jokes.
@ Donnaplumridge9769~Oh thank you, Donna! That's so good to hear! He was a sweet man, and funny! Thank you for the update ❣️😊
My daughter lives in London 🤗

My Honey & I really enjoyed watching Mr. Justin Wilson cooking! It was good cooking with laughter and wonderful entertainment!! You are missed Sir♥️🙏🏼🙏🏼
Greatest man ever and a fantastic Cajun Cooker. Loved watching him, especially when he was outdoors.
My Mom and I watched him on PBS and thoroughly enjoyed his shows and sense of humour.
Think I saw him once decades ago, but I learned to cook artichokes because of him.
As for the salad, I don't know why people don't just put a bunch of the noodle mix in the bowl with the dressing. It helps clean the dressing off the sides of the bowl when you dump it back into the main bowl.
Excellent tip!
So glad this showed up. My grandfather and I used to watch Mr Wilson together. Grandpa made some of his recipes too. This made my heart smile ❤
I really would like to see his outdoor cooking shows
Enjoyed conversations with him twice. Very friendly and honest man. Honest as in , when he said something he meant it.
What a Treasure for Sure... Rest in Peace Justin the world will sure miss you and your talent as a cook. I just found you links and so grateful for all you video's.
Oh my word I loved watching him back in the day.He had a way about that would make you smile, how I miss seeing him.
My man and I always watched Justin cook. He was the best 👌
Delicious!
I used to love watching his show❤he was the best
Watching Mr. J Wilson cook and hearing him speak makes me think of my father in law, Moose Thibodeaux. He was always showing me how to make my husband's favorite foods and telling me all the funny Boudreaux, Thibodeaux and Fontenot stories. The good ole Cajun accent and humor is being lost everyday. Thankfully we still have Justin Wilson cooking and archived for us to enjoy. Thank you for sharing him with us. ❤
I love Justin's show and his recipes. He is the real deal. 😊
Back in the 80s he had a program called Cookin Cajun on, I wanna say PBS.. no matter where it was my Mother was there with her notebook and pencil. She loved him and never missed his program once she learned to use a VCR recorder..😊
There was another program she never missed and it was hilarious as well called Cookin Cheap, I think it was out of Cincinnati but I really can't remember. Those were the days!!😂
I grew up watching Justin, and another show called the Galloping Gourmet., and who can forget Julia Childs either. You can sure see old Justin is slipping away from us in this video. Rip Justin!.
Oh my stars!!!! Thank you for posting this! In the early 90's when I was first married, he was on PBS Saturdays at 6:30. I always watched, and he helped me to learn how to cook!
