I feel like people forget that for the models, the point is for the clothes to be the center of attention, not them. They are the blank canvas for the art that is the clothes. We really don't need to dunk on them for just doing their job. They are just as gorgeous as Zendaya, their beauty just isn't as focused bc that's not what the focus is supposed to be on for them.
That is a good point, but I personally think that Zendaya is still physically more stunning than even these other very beautiful women. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though.

Exactly, the model is working as a living clothes hanger the patron is meant to project themselves onto. Kinda degrading when I put it like that, admittedly. But the patron, Zendaya in this case, is free to show her personality.
That’s the idea but I find the convention off putting. Back in the 50-60’s, models were allowed to be more than robots and I found it more flattering to the clothes.

Zendaya’s first walk reminds me of something Tyra Banks would’ve done in her modeling days. She did a lot of really fun, flirty runway walks that still showcased the clothes beautifully by showing movement.
