"I don't care what George Lucas says, Ki-Adi Mundi is a sith lord" - John Campea
Thats established J-Level cannon.
Don't let the G-Levelers out there hate on the new truth
A sith lord?! If what you have told me is true, you will have earned my trust.
He was trained by Darth Jar Jar the bombad.
Ki-Adi Mundi should have a lightsaber hat, the blade emerges from the tip. would be fantastic.
my grandma told me "i dont care what George Lucas taught you, Ki Adi Mundi is black"..
Campea: "They didn't call Smilo Ren a Sith"
Acolyte Ep5: "hold my beer"
Nice milk you've got there Campea, has it turned into cheese yet?
@@lordofthepizzapie9319 When it does it'll go nicely with his whine.
I never said that - Campea.
He's famous for lieing about what he said and taking credit for what he didn't
When the Acolyte fans thought the shitty "can't even obey basic canon" writers of this show agreed with their stupid flimsy head canon defense.
What a bunch of twits.
when Smilo confirmed what he is i immediately recalled John's fine milk toast take
I love after telling us that we are completely, utterly, factually wrong, Campea's argument boils down to "you are factually correct, but who cares?"
Smug and narcissistic indeed.
Yup. If you split canon into enough "levels" then canon itself becomes meaningless. I think that characters being alive or dead is the most basic level of "canon" you can possibly have. It's like saying that Tattoine never existed because it's "George Lucas canon" or that the Jedi built the Death Star.
It's funny to see how a single episode of The Acolyte has wrecked all the Ki-Adi Mundi web pages in Star Wars wookie verse. They're like the Ministry of Information in "1984" trying to re-write history to make the Acolyte's story work.
@@KneelB4Bacon and it backfired.
It's Campea.. are you really shocked? He's like the king of bad takes and saying really REALLY dumb ish on camera.
@@TwistedReality13 Well, I wasn't shocked that Campea hates taking responsibility for treating genuine Star Wars Fans like a personal dumpyard. No doubt he's a sell-out and boot-kisser to Disney, which I'm not.
Campea likes the "lying eyes" defence where he acts as if nothings been changed at all. He did it with the live action how to train your dragon
There was a live action How to train your dragon? Was it "Disney live action remake" bad?

@fusionfountain they cast a mixed race girl to play Astrid and people who don't like raceswaps for whatever reason complained. So Campea made a video having a go at them and said the character was "changed" in quotation marks. Acting like there wasnt a change

People being ALIVE or DEAD is the most basic "level of canon" you can possibly have.

Somehow, Ki-Adi Mundi was there.
Somehow, Darth Maul survived.
Nothing is ever truly gone.

John campea is an untapped goldmine for efap. Especially his old TLJ videos. His ego is massive, and will usually correct people even if he agrees with them. He even went as far as to say that TLJ has no plot holes, and is 100% on the “everything is subjective unless I say it’s a fact” train.
So is Star Wars Theory. He took down his videos but he loved Rise of Skywalker and called it a good movie because of its fan service. He also said Last Jedi was great.
I watched quite a few SWtheory videos around the release of the ST films and got the impression that he doesn't like TLJ. He even makes fun of it multiple times. So, its a surprise that you said he thinks its great.
Him liking RoS is definitely true though. I believe EFAP even covered some of his takes regarding that film.
wait.. so he's a yumyucker?.. no, he's a yumsucker..
They could make an entire channel posting videos everyday about Campea. Did is a massive hypocrite and his brother in law is a complete brain dead moron.
To me, the importance of adhering to canon boils down to two things:
1. Respecting the fidelity of a universe you are allowed to create content for is a sign of respect not just for the original creators, but for the audience.
2. There is absolutely no reason to get invested in a universe whose stewards actively frustrate/punish the audience for remembering the state of it.
Indeed, why should I care to bother watching/reading/playing the newest Star Wars movie/show/book/comic/game (asssuming it even happened to be good) if anything that happens in it is just as likely to get thrown out the window in the next?
Heck, as a hobbyist writer, I see it like this: If I'm not going to pay attention to my own details, why even bother writing a story? What's the point of building a world/universe if none of it matters?
I guess these writers don't care because it isn't their's? I dunno, man. Even with fanfiction, going outside the rules of the universe irritated me and made it feel pointless.
It also shows serious laziness because the writers could easily check a Wiki to see the continuity of their own shows. Fans devote so much time keeping track of lore and post it online for free, so there's no excuse as to why the writers don't just use those resources. I felt this way when the Supernatural writers kept changing the way the monsters worked on the show like the Reapers suddenly being angels when that was never established.
You wanna see these woketard cultists flip out more than anything?
Make up a rumor about how there's a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer being made, and Buffy is going to be race/gender swapped, lol.
Remember when Red Letter Media joked that this exact guy keeps calling other people nerds in a derogatory fashion while calling himself basically a Disney corporate approved nerd and how every year is it less and less of a joke as every access media shill does it?
RLM have become shills
Unsubscribed today
@@the3goodlemons😂 kweerr
Oh yeah the access that changes nothing
*He only mentions G-Canon and T-canon, but not the four other tiers of canon.* They were all legitimate until Disney wiped them out.
The other tiers literally have canon in their name. John Cuntea said "canon isn't canon" so many times as he was making shit up.
Is John seriously going to pretend that the Timothy Zahn books and the Family Guy Star Wars specials are on the same level even remotely.
Lucas killed the best EU
What are the tiers of canon? Who made this thing a thing?
@@Unicornpirate LucasArts while it was still under George made it a thing. The old EU was just a bunch of authors doing paid fanfiction in Lucas's sandbox in the early years; only in the 90s did they start trying to make it a cohesive universe. Thus the tiers were created:
G-Canon are the OT and the prequels.
T-Canon, or TV canon, just consists of the animated Clone Wars show.
C-Canon is Continuity canon and consists of everything LucasArts worked into a cohesive universe.
S-Canon is Secondary canon and is everything they couldn't work into the above - usually just the older works.
N-Canon is all the non-canon works: "what if?" kinda stories and works that are contradicted by any work of a higher canon tier.
So basically, the canon tiers are the result of taking what had become akin to modern mythology storytelling, trying to compress it into a singular MCU style timeline, getting various authors to make a cohesive universe while also accommodating George's desire to maintain creative control.
Star Wars writers: *puts in recognizable character for the sole purpose of jingling keys*
Star Wars viewers: *take notice of said jingling keys and quickly point out they don’t make any sense*
Disney Shills: “HOW DARE YOU Take notice of this thing that the creators of this show WANTED you to expressly take notice of!”
It's not the first time I've seen something like this, though at least the devs in my other example cleaned up their goof. It's very wild that you can take the time to pick an obscure character to bring to the audience's attention for style points, but then fail to notice first-page, stat-blurb level information about the character.
Just the usual gaslighting.
It's either that or the appeal to trivialities A.K.A. *"WhY dO you CaRe So MuCh???"*
Huh... i wonder if I made a star wars film about Trump the star wars "mega fans"
would have to support it still.
Oh right. first i have to have control of the license. then i can.
and money.
Jingling keys 😂 so Christmasy
So, Campea's argument was: "I'll bombard you with some powerpoint slides full of definitions that should give you the impression I know what I'm talking about, until you get bored, exhausted, throw the towel and accept my position."
That doesn't work on EFAP, dude.
*Let’s be frank. The more garbage you pile into the canon, the less legitimate the canon is.*
Have you ever been immersed in Moonfall lore? Jupiter Ascending lore? Even Mortal Engines lore?
Right now, it’s more prestigious to be Legends than Disney canon.
i feel with Mortal Engines you can at least think about the insanity that would be a mobile New York, like a battle fortress or something

I love how Campea says it's "nebulous" but then shows us the clearly-defined rules...
Canon is so incomplete. Disney’s done nothing to enhance it.
I wanted to roleplay an asteroid miner in the Star Wars universe. There’s *nothing.* I looked everywhere. It’s all in Legends. How shallow Disney Star Wars feels! Where’s their stewardship?
You are so right and Disney instead of editing legends made a big show of throwing it out like they had better ideas only to do the most slimy corporate thing and start selecting and reusing ideas established in legends. SMH
Rags is right. People who claim to like trash like this, TROS, and TLJ, either have something wrong with them or are just pretending to like it because it panders to their particular ideology.
Or maybe they just like it.
One doesn't exclude the other
I liked TLJ but bear in mind, I'm not a big Star Wars fan. Maybe if it had happened to something I really loved(like GoT) I would have been pissed. Who knows.
They didn't have to use Ki-Adi Mundi at all, there are other members of the jedi council (in the prequels) who are long lived which they could have used instead, but it seems they used him SPECIFICALLY to spite the fans knowing exactly that it's going to piss people who still give a fuck about SW, knowing it breaks canon because he wasn't even born and because he is the one who says the sith haven't been seen for a 1000 years in the prequels, it's so profoundly pathetic and stupid to even defend his presence there, of ALL the jedi that could have been used instead his usage is the most damaging to the continuity and to the character of Ki-Adi Mundi himself.
It was 100% done out of spite.
the lengths this guy went into making this video is wild compared to the 3 seconds it took me to remember Ki Adi Mundi shouldn't be alive.
Its not a question of whether or not they CAN put him in the show, its WHY they chose to do so when its seemingly inconsequential
The way he says, Ki Adi Mundi....
F*** you John Campea.
Let's be real, anything that's happened since George sold the franchise to the "white slavers" isn't canon because it's been that unrecognizable.

Canon is not just a matter of trust, it's a matter of consistency. Pattern recognition is the most basic way of learning things for animals and humans alike, and it relies on various phenomena around us being consistent. A world where nothing is consistent and everything can be changed on a whim is not a world any normal human being wants to be invested in. The complaint is not "Waaaah you broke our thing!", it's "Make the universe and the story make sense if you want to see me invested in them!"
It's a fundamental concept of science fiction and fantasy - you can do whatever you want in your story as long as it follows the rules established for that universe. Canon is the rules. So if you can't trust the canon, you can't trust anything in the story.
Literally who?

According to John Campia's arbitrary appeal to authority tiering system of what is elite, member of The Party canon and what is filthy peasant canon not worthy even of a dignified burial, The Acoshyte deserves to be called Star Wars more than Knights of The Old Republic does.
*John Campia's opinion is invalid for that reason alone.*
So many writers hired in Hollywood have never learned that it's limitations that breed creativity. Complete freedom and getting to do whatever you want tends to not result in anything interesting.

The depressing thing about being so dismissive of supplementary material is that for quite a few Jedi from the prequels, that's all they have.

Why stop at Ki-adi Mundi? We never saw when Qui-gon was born. Let's get a Liam Neeson cameo for Episode 5. Harrison Ford probably doesn't want to do it, so Han Solo is out. Who cares if Acolyte is 100 years before Phantom Menace.
Y-Wings are never named onscreen in the OT. I suppose they don't exist.
Qui Gon does have a canon birth year though
@@pastychongAnd A New Hope is canon, yet they completely and blatantly contradicted it with Kenobi.
13:59 I completely missed that joke from Rags when I watched this live, and clearly so did the rest of the panel. I am wheezing right now.
The most important question is why break canon.
No one will be mad if you change things because you love the property and change it for the better.
But those Disney writers tell you they don't care and change things because "Why not, it's mine now." and because it's easier then to double check, what shouldn't be a big issue with the Internet at your fingertips.
This.
Exactly, they don’t even need to hire a dedicated lore master, the fans are so dedicated that they’ve already compiled just about everything for free. This is the best case scenario when buying an IP and Disney still managed to f$&k it up.
The problem with saying it doesnt matter is that objectively that leads to NOTHING mattering. Why should i care about ANY story being told when the writers explicitly tell me that the events within can be erased or changed on a whim at any future point?
They say they’re sw fans but then hypocritically tell us “it doesn’t even matter” what?!?!
Once a shill, always a shill. John can't help himself but defend Disney, even he claims to hate the Acolyte. Seriously, there is no defending Ki-Adi-Mundi in this show, no matter what claims of canon you make.
He constantly says he hates the show yet he always feels the need to defend it
I can't figure out what this guy's angle is, or why he would go this far out of his way with this many fallacious "arguments" to die on a hill made of quicksand that wouldn't even hold up past the next episode for a series he openly admitted to detesting... but I know he has an angle, because he's so untrustworthy that his screen looks incomplete without a CNN logo. His "arguments" were so crooked that it makes me want to look of that video of every single type of logical fallacy just to see how many apply to what he's blathering on about.
Simple, the people with the “wrong opinions” are the ones he has to agree with this time about a show… so he has to try extra hard to remind his audience that those same people are actually still wrong about this show even when he’s agreeing with them about it.
it makes me happy that there are other people out there who don't consider the Disney products canon
Fans need to understand, the people in charge of all of these scifi series think that scifi are "silly". Not "stupid" or something malicious, they think it's childish, that's why they get angry when people rightfully mock them for fuking up continuities or even basic scientific logic like a campfire in space. Their mindset is "this is all silly billy, why are you all GETTING ANGRY??".
I support Rags in hating people loving episode 4...
40 minutes and I feel confident summing up his video as trying to convey two things; 1. Canon is broken at other times so it doesn't matter. 2. Look at all this stuff and believe I knew it already, and am an authority on the issue.
Campea was fun to watch back during his time with AMC & Collider Movie Talk. After he started doing his own thing and 2017 arrived, he just changed for the worst and became a shill for Bob Iger.
Dude repeats himself all the time, he shadow bans people who disagree with him no matter how respectful you are and constantly believes he's right about everything
This thing I hate the most about him is he takes centuries to get to the point. He'll make 100 disclaimers before saying his opinion
As someone who listens to the show everyday, you are 100 percent correct. (Hey I gotta have something to listen to at work)
100% on team Rags on the first point. People should be called out for liking garbage cause theyre the reason more garbage gets made. If anything i would even go as far as saying people who just like it and maybe stay quiet about it are THE BIGGER problem than the people who celebrate it as theyre a full demograpic that flies under the radar while proving viewer interest for companies.
His voice cracking almost on the verge of tears while is saying something on the line of "You're dumb! This is bad, but for the reasons I say!" made me realize he is sad crying meme man. Btw, how did Rags "I did not have sex with that fhurer" joke go unnoticed?!? 😂

Campea: *breathes*
"Hmmmm why did he breath like that?" "Notice the background when he just took a breath"?
*5 minutes later*
Have to do it.
The first thing you associate as an infant through sight, is shapes and faces.
I remember Campea's Collider panel review of The Force Awakens. The first quarter or third of it was him gushing about how fun it was to go to the red-carpet premiere and drink champagne. That is when I realized that he was nothing more than a shill.
I wonder if you knew that Greedo's dialogue was originally given by Jabba, and the Greedo scene was given subtitles after Jabba could not have his early design costume finished in time. And the SHOT LAST FIRST portion was shot several times, from different angles. And George could not decide which shot to use. So the "Special Edition" of Ep 4 used an alternate shot that was filmed all the way back in 1976.
Campea thinks he's so self-righteous lol.
He reminds me of the guy from Bruce Almighty who brings the boss his sandwich.

55 minute highlight? The guys have really fallen off lately
44:00 The idea of T-Canon was created specifically for Dave Filoni and The Clone Wars as George had a hand in creating it.
The issue with the CD part was it was created as promotional material for TPM, making it G-Canon as George had a hand in determining it. Meaning it still would outrank The Acolyte in terms of canonicity.
Isn't Campea the same guy who whined several years ago when Disney didn't give him advance, exclusive press access to something (can't remember if it was a movie, Galaxy's Edge, or what) and he vented his bitterness during a podcast? The whole time claiming he "works soooo hard to be a SW fan/how exhausting it is" and felt Disney owed him. Another theory about including Ki-Adi Mundi is to consider how much Disney Star Wars seems to hate/resent the Jedi, and are going out of their way to make them look bad or not the noble heroes that they are. They might just play everything out the way it is and have Ki-Adi Mundi end up being a liar is the prequels. It doesn't break cannon this way, and makes him and the Jedi by extension, look horrible in the process.

In an interview with John Stewart, George Lucas was asked what planet Obi Wan was originally from. George literally just pulled Stewjon out of his ass. It's dumb but to me, that's canon now, and I'd be upset if season 2 of Kenobi makes his home planet Glorbo.
So if the "head of cannon" of a series does a terrible Job and contradicts several things and makes excuses when people point it out, we're "fundamentally wrong" for pointing it out and saying it breaks canon, according to whoever this guy is?
Question: In Attack of the Clones, it shows that Poggle the Lesser giving the blueprints of the Death Star to Count Dooku, who later gives it to Sidious and in Revenge of the Sith, it shows the construction of the Death Star based on the blueprints. However, in Rogue One, it shows that Director Krennic and Galen Erso were the ones who created that Death Star.
So, is this a retcon or an addition to the canon to the Death Star?
Retcon
I thought they made the weapon part of it
My interpretation of that was that once Sidious takes over is that he hands over the project to Krennic and co
The thing about the rule of 2 is interesting, because the GL canon doesn't say much about it, at least in the movies. Yoda said there's always 2 of them: master and the student. That doesn't mean that there can't be 1 master+student in the Outer Rim and 1 master+student in the Mid Rim as long as they don't even know the other 2 exist. Under right circumstances there could be a 100 Sith comprising of 50 masters and 50 students but they never run into one another, but I imagine they would be at each other's throats if they did. Palpatine wanted Maul and Ventress dead, considering Maul to now be his rival and Ventress to be Dooku's illegal apprentice.
Our Cultural requirement to preface and qualify everything- 'I didn't like it, but it's fine if you did!' While being monumentally frusrating, is actually one more indicator of how much Cultural Marxism and Postmodernism have infected ALL of us.
Our Culture has denied Objective Truth and Reality for so long, the belief that everything IS a 'Social Construct' is so deeply ingrained, that even people who consider themselves Hard Right, often only complain about 'The Left' as a matter of TASTE not PRINCIPLE.
Barna did a study a few years back and found that nearly 90% of Americans, regardless of political affiliation, have a Postmodern Worldview.
Decades ago, I found out that up until the 1900's, the word 'Opinion' used to mean- Your best attempt to get at the truth of a matter, based on the evidence currently available to you. Now of course, it just means- Whatever happens to fly out of your posterior.
Curious if they do this with SW EXPLAINED
we need Acolyte ep 5
I'm gonna get some popcorn.
This video finished before Campea’s video even got to the point of his argument:
Ki Adi Mundi’s birthday is never established in any primary canon. His species’ (Cerean) lifespan isn’t even established in any primary canon.
Therefore, the creators of The Acolyte took the opportunity to say that “This guy is still alive during this time,” which has now established in canon that his species can also live at least that long.
Rule of two means there can only be a master and an apprentice and was started by Darth Bane.
Yoda said, only two there are. No more no less
Ki Adi Mundi spake "I am," and thus he was...in the Acolyte.
Only 8 minutes in and he's almost crying when saying Ki-adi Mundi, I'm sure he's gonna bring some good points.
