Hyundai winning the hot hatch game again! Best part is how it (and the i30n) come fully loaded. I specced a golf gti on the configurator to match the i30n with the diff, sport exhaust, adaptive dampers , bigger wheels Etc and it was nearly £14k more expensive.
I've owned my i20n for just under a week now. 400 miles and loving it so far. Even running in at 4000 RPM, it's quite a tool. The weather has been a bit cr@p here this week and so I'm relieved to see that Performance Blue doesn't show the dirt as much as some other colours. I've owned a variety of Black cars over the years - they definitely can be hard work. One of my pet gripes with the i20n is the daft ''safety warning' that appears on the infotainment display upon start-up. Granted you can ignore it and it times out after a while (or 'Confirm' your agreement) but surely this shouldn't be necessary each time? Fair enough, if battery is disconnected or software updated but, otherwise, it's totally unnecessary. Ditto having to switch off auto-stop/start and other 'driver aids' each time. I'd much prefer my personal settings to be remembered - or at least linked to Custom settings so it's a single button choice, rather than having to faffi around with menus each time. Engagement of "N" mode allows a variety of warning systems to be disabled but this isn't an option for Custom 1 or 2. Getting really petty here - and just my preference - but 'Eco' mode would be ideal for intial warm up of the car. Doesn't it make sense to maximise fuel at this time? I know it's only 2x clicks on the LHS N Button but, again, it would be great to have a default start-up mode. Once I'm up to temp, I typically switch to Custom 1 ("N" mode with quiet exhaust and no rev matching - I prefer to do my own). Normal and Sport modes are pointless IMO

@@TheTrooperMB getting it on the 7th December! Held up like all cars.

@@TheTrooperMB very different cars. We've got the x5 7 seater suv. Idrive bmw tech is the best. Then the old vw passat sport wagon for the school run etc is what we are chopping in. Used to have third car - boxster, e46 m3, jag xk8. I wanted something with 5 seats that I can consider my fun car too as we go back to a 2 car family. My sister had an elise. Best drivers car but total ball ache. Other than just a toy you'll end up hating it. 370z could work. Dated but chassis lives on in the 400z. Where's your local dealers? Who will service it? Insurance cost? Driveway/garage? Is it reliable, can I afford it to be out of action for a month waiting on spares? All this practical boring stuff should probably sway your mind. Can't really tell you much beyond the online reviews til I live with it. But fun, value, tech, warranty, 5 seat belts, were my most important criteria to balance. Meanwhile in India we are gonna get N line i20 for the first time but it has the same 1.0L T 3c as the stock car with only difference being some vinyls
The Indian market is a sad one and often overlooked by most carmakers 😔
Taxation and other stuffs to reduce cost bro :'"3
This car is 25000 pounds in UK that is 25 lacs in India, who will buy that expensive Hyundai in India? For that money, you can get Octavia. Imagine getting i20 instead of Octavia lol
@@PritamDas_26 This could do better than an Fiesta ST, maybe even Octavia(non RS version)too, but people won't buy a hatchback around 20lakhs, just like how the Polo GTI sold in India.
We have the same problem here in Egypt. We don't even get the N-line because they get too expensive due to the bigger engine. We did get the Cupra Leon for a while but it was almost as expensive as a BMW 1-series and A-class so it didn't sell well.
pls do a drag race between the i20n polo gti and Ford feista st 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Maybe also a mini cooper s or jcw ?

It’s good to see that mats finally appreciate a Hyndai…usually it goes very wrong
He loved the kia stinger though.
The Koreans are doing such a good job making good cars these days, beware Japan and Germany!
The N's come from the German division of Hyundai.
They’ve been doing a great job since the early 2010s. It’s just that the petrolheads haven’t noticed because, they’ve only been in the performance market properly since 2017-ish.
Yeah, Except North Korea lol

This car is very refreshing to me cause i love small fast car, since every car is getting bigger and bigger. Really hope there will be a dct version
The way Mat reviews the car is just amazing
Interior looks like it was designed, approved and built by the same person.
Wdym by that
Is that a good or bad thing

Been waiting for this for ages!
Hyundai have been smashing it recently
Driving i 20 asta 1.2 petrol and its awesome hatch.
This is one hell of a package! The thing it does with its GPS is brilliant!
Matt you should really review the genesis cars.. you will be very surprised
When will you review the Ioniq 5?
@Ty Ty troller
It's a winner! I just bought one straight up!!
Love this channel. My favorite pastime, actually. Not kidding.
I’d love to see some reviews and comparisons between various station cars and also SUVs. Maybe not glamorous, but I’d be really useful to me.
And, please, open a branch in Denmark.
Well done Hyundai! It looks the part!
Been waiting for this review for a while now, super happy it’s up
Are we gonna see this car in some drag races? Only asking as I have one and wanna know what it can beat / lose miserably to 😂
Need it Vs the Fiesta ST and possibly the Polo
Always happy to see a new hot hatch 🔥 ❤️
I pre ordered one and it will be here (Australia) next month. I can't wait to drive this little pocket rocket!

In India, it's cosmetically the same but here it's got a 120bhp 1.4 engine. Don't know why couldn't they've increased it a little more.
This could be a worthy upgrade over my Abarth 595 Comp !
That's actually a sick little car 👌 I mean, I'm keeping my Holden VE SS 6.0 litre ute but it's still a dope little car, would be mint for city driving.
Thanks for posting, man. That was the first question that popped into my head when I seen that this video had been posted.
Would lukeslayer swap his Ute for this little Hyundai? And now I know.
Cheers again.
A 3-door MINI Cooper S or an Abarth 500 would be much more go-kart like, but the Koreans (with help from a German) do such a good job, the i20N could hold its own against those two.
@@DrMcMoist DrMcMoist commented on the Suzuki swift carwow review video

Would like to see i20n, Yaris GR and Pulsar GTIR on quarter mile battle.
When are you guys gonna do new i30n facelift? Love the vids mate! From Australia ♥️
i feel like this should be in the USA as well
why?
in greece they have cut some features from standard like the 10inch display, gps, heated steering wheel, the 10inch is bundled with the gps AND soundsystem for an extra 1600~euros and can not get them individually. wireless charger is around 200-250eur extra too :(
Stop successfully selling me a Hyundia, my nether regions are confused
impressed by the sound of the 4 cylinder engine❤❤❤
I20 N is a good budget hot hatch too, but to choose between this and a Polo GTI, I'd rather have a Polo GTI. Still well done to Hyundai for making this hot hatch for it's price.
I am probably bias but I have driven both and it isn't even close for me! The Fiesta ST is a better competitor than the Polo. Both the ST and N felt leagues above the Polo GTI! All good cars though, would be lucky to own and drive any of these awesome hot hatches.
Dear god the polo is usual VW dullness for dull people.
@@Jabber-ig3iw Respect the GTi, it's a different hot hatch, different from the regular Polo. And by that logic even the I20(non N-performace) is for the usual dull people.
(Btw, why do you use the word "God", even for lame sentences, like wtf.)
Looks like a great little hot hatch, Hyundai have really improved their product design over the last few years.
I have been waiting for this review for so long
I wish Suzuki kept the 1.6L Swift Sport and chucked a turbo on it, would have been a worthy competitor to this smart little Hatchback.
Finally some good old reviewing. Thank you very much @carwow. Great content as always
India it is 115 HP and N line🤣
Hyundai could sell the i20 N to us honestly if they wanted to via CBU route. 200-250 limited units , 25-30 lakh inr. Vw did it with the polo GTi so it's possible.
And it's a 3 cylinder..
119hp*
South Africa too, still a beautiful car with plenty of “umph” for a little TGDI engine.
@@thejdmguru621 That's a heavily detuned little tgdi, can be easily decoded to produce much more figures, that's what is fun though its a 3cyl which puts me down on this 1l tgdi.
