If you want a more permanent version of this, you can open the controller, and either add a full-height trigger plug, or just remove the spring and decouple the analog slider from the trigger notch (making sure it remains in the fully-up position), then reassemble the controller. Neither of these is technically permanent but requires effort to undo, however you also get to reduce strain on the trigger finger and don't have to set it up every time you plug-in.
It's actually possible to still get analog presses even with all of this, at least on my favorite controller :( also, I've noticed on some controllers, it feels nicer without the spring, but others can feel kinda rough.
Thanks amsa, i've played this game for so many years and i didn't know about the trigger trick lol. Will prob help me as a fox main power shield some lasers
It’s crazy to see this, because this exact technique is what gave you the upper hand at the very end of your grand finals match at the Big House 10. You have truly mastered the artform
Subscribed even though I'm not a Yoshi main. Also Z is not a good replacement for L/R lightshield in my opinion because you cannot shield grab out of lightshield with Z. It's better to have only one digitial button L or R.
full height trigger plugs technically produce the same result as this, but in a more comfortable form factor since you don't have to depress the string all the way, reducing strain on your finger. Removing the spring and unnotching the internal analog slider allows for this as well, but the positioning of the spring is more awkward, so full height trigger plugs are usually preferred. Partial trigger plugs that still allow a degree of light shield will not be as consistent as either this or as consistent as removing spring/analog slider, since there's always some small chance that controller polling occurs during your trigger travel from unpressed->light pressed->full pressed. If you want both light shield and full shield, your most flexible and most consistent option is to have one dedicated button for digital shield (either trigger tricked, full-height trigger plugged, or despringed) and one with the spring still in, untricked, with some degree of light shield available.
Wow ty for tutorial, yoshi parrying always seemed too complicated to overcome the learning curve, but I might have to give it a try now.

you can check if it is working by holding up on the c stick and slowly pressing the trigger. if you jump then analog trigger is properly disabled

Wait, you can parry in melee?! I NEVER KNEW THAT!
Have you considered adding trigger plugs to your controller?
LLL or RRRR :') thanks for the english effort!

You don't use trigger plugs?
sweet!
我がアムサ!
yoshi knowledge sharing from the best
+1
wow! so if a yoshi player doesn't do this at the start of a match they are at a big disadvantage?
Is this for OEM or phob?
Is there any benefit to using trigger plugs vs this method??
Love the tutorial!

@@TheDrinkingFood Thank you! That's what I figured - but still semi new to this aspect
Wtf!
Can you trigger trick just one trigger or does it have to be both?
you can do either
