The sad thing about this episode is that this was my introduction to the buu saga. I was cruising in Gwinnett Place mall in the video section, and this was playing on VHS in Japanese. It was many years ago before it was dubbed in English, and I was dying to see what was going to happen next.
I think the difference between Vegeta’s beating versus Videl’s beating was scale & karma. Vegeta was a menace since he was blowing up planets, invading Earth, killing the Z-fighters and slaughtering Namekians for the Dragon Balls. Ultimately, his karma would bite him in the rear when facing Frieza. Videl was fighting criminals and was considered a hero to everyone in town. In terms of scale, Vegeta had 3 people watch his beating versus Videl getting a whole stadium’s worth of people watching her beating. Gender and age plays a factor in this considering Videl is a teenage girl and there’s more of an emotional attachment when a girl gets beaten/killed more than a guy. Still tho, both beatings are absolutely terrible to watch.
I gotta disagree a bit. Videl's fight was far more controlled while Vegeta's and co was life or death with no "tag out" button. She had the whole stadium begging her to quit, ring out, anything to stop that beating immediately but she CHOSE to get blown out.
I’m going to side with the replies. Videl chose this. Goku had no choice but to fight Piccolo despite having a hole in him. Tenshinhan had his arm cut off by Nappa. Gohan had no choice but to fight Recoom as he would have died otherwise and the poor kid got his neck snapped. Vegeta had no choice but to fight Frieza and his men or else he would’ve died, and even then he did. Krillin also died to Frieza, Yamcha got impaled by an android, Gero got his head cut off and stomped, Gohan had his arm broken by Super Perfect Cell, Trunks got a hole blasted in him by Cell and more instances of such brutalization exist in the series, these were just the ones I could remember off the top of my head and the difference between all of them and Videl’s case is that none of them had a surrender chance. It was either death or fight, which also had a high chance of death. Videl had a choice to quit.
@@MiguelMartinon this doesnt disregard the OPs point. vegeta's beating while brutal you can argue for being deserved. Vegeta was just as ruthless when it came to his fight. You can say she had a choice to quit but in reality, being a crime stopper, and ontop of being the daughter of the strongest man on earth. she wasnt allowed to quit, you can even see that when hercule chastizes her for being weak enough to lose to a guy like spopovich. almost all of the other brutalizations that our heros suffered through was met with determination to get the job done and ended up winning at the end. For alot of videl fans, this is where cool stuff for videl ends with the rest of her stuff being in non cannon movies for glimpses at a time.
The fact that Videl decided to take an ass whooping instead of just ringing him out, she was pretty much begging for it at that point with the amount of times she knocked him down 😅
The one and only moment during the entire Buu Saga when we saw a glimpse of Cell Games Himhan was when he was getting angrier by the second and powering up into a Super Saiyan to go into the arena to beat the mess outta Spopovich while Goku and Krillin were trying to talk him down. We NEVER saw Gohan that enraged again for the rest of the OG series. He couldn't 'let go' and go berserk against Dabura (while Buu's ball was on the cusp of hatching) even after Goku told him no one could beat him if he unleashes his full might and he only gritted his teeth after Goten told him that Super Buu had killed/eaten their mom and Videl.
For the record, that's the 2nd time people have seen Senzu beans with Goku/Gohan and ZERO questions are being asked. After the saiyan saga, he ate one and flexed his cast off, then jumped out the window. The hospital has to have his Capsule Corp insurance card on file.
@@KJMProductions92 ay to be FAIR I did literally click onto this video like 3 min after watching the RIP Akira Toriyama one where you mention you got a wife and kids 😂 coming right from that I was like "Damn maybe he's sad cause Akira, naaaaahhh wait a minute I bet that mfs kids are sleeping" lmfao
As bad as this "fight" was, I still think that vegeta vs frieza was the worst beatdown in the entire series. While videl was beaten to the point of unconsciousness, at least she managed to survive. But vegeta, on the other hand, was still conscious throughout his entire "fight" with frieza, which means he suffered all throughout frieza's torture. But the biggest reason why vegeta's beatdown was worse was because frieza completely broke his will to fight back, and the only thing he could do was stand there frozen in fear. (Oh yeah, and frieza made him cry, too)
This is both Videl's best fight and her worst beat down. Her beating in this fight was one of the worst in dragonball history. It's no wonder that she was no longer active as a fighter after this, not that it would make a difference if Videl managed to win. Videl was just truly introduced to a larger world than she ever experienced, and she simply wasn't ready for it.
Not only did Videl get "beat so bad she got turned into a house wife" as someone in a comment section from another video said, IMO in DB Super she's not even the same character anymore.
Vegeta's beatdown on Namek was horrific, but let's be honest, he had it coming. Videl's situation is more terrifying because she's just a teenage girl. I was very uncomfortable watching this as a kid. The worst part about it was that Gohan never got his get back before Spopovich died. I promise you, I was heated when the man died before Gohan got his hands on him.
If any normal teen with the power that Gohan has would 100% have said, “fuck this tournament, I’m going to go save my girlfriend.” That absolute violation spopavich gave poor videl was completely unnecessary and the fact the z fighters just stood by idly and watched was beyond me. Perhaps gohan hesitated to intervene was because of videl’s pride to win. But still, holy shit!
Vegeta also gets a nasty beatdown at the end of this arc while holding off kid buu. And don't forget the multiple embarassing defeats he had in the cell saga. Bro is gonna be paying off his karmic debt for the rest of his life.
Awwwww yah. This and what happens right after the video is where shit really pops off and to put it into perspective, all the other sagas mostly took place over several days except for some fights at the end. Basically the entirety of the Buu saga takes place in one day. Shit goes fucking hard for that day. Namek was 6 days. The Android and Cell sagas were several days if not a couple weeks max. This is just where everything goes from a bad day, to a worse day, to a terrible day, to the stuff of nightmares. I love this part of dbz so much. Bring on the fat elderitch magic man child horror that is Buu.
Naw you should of show the fact videl kicked dude head and broke his neck and bruh lift his head up twisted his neck back in place and was still alive Now that was nasty !

I think Goku get crushed by Great Ape Vegtea was worse than this. When Goku fought him his body was already badly damaged by going over his Kaiokin limit, then got stepped on and Great Ape Vegtea mercilessly broke every bone in his already broken body by torture him simply squeeze him with his giant hands. Had Gohan,Killian, and Yarobie not intervened Great Ape Vegtea would have took his sweet time torturing him.
Android 17's beating from Imperfect Cell was brutal, bro got hit so hard his voice box nearly broke. 😂 Tbh,with how Toriyama handled beat downs, they feel a lot like a lesson in humility. Videl's VA did a great job showing just how much her character was getting broken to bits.
The only beating worse than this is the beating my brain took while watching the buu saga, hopefully KJM's commentary makes it passable so I can actually get through it this time lmao
One things people rarely mention about the Videl-Spopovich beatdown is lil' Miss Satan's absolute rejection of surrender. It's been a hot minute since I had last watched this part of the anime, so I don't know if Toei had snuck in some filler of Videl trying to forfeit, but in the manga she wanted to hear nothing about giving up even as things wen't more and more South, and refused becoming a victim to the bitter end. I personally think Toei drawing this fight out so excessively did hurt it somewhat, making Gohan begrudgingly tolerate that much torture porn starring his would-be boo feeling like borderline unintentional parody after a while. In the manga the fight was grueling as well, but the tighter pacing also made Gohan wait till the last second feel a little more reasonable, especially with Videl constantly refusing to give up. As for how this beatdown ranks within DB, while we did see more physicall gruesome ones before (Goku getting beaten into a cripple by both Piccolos and Vegeta, Nappa tearing Tenshinhan's arm off, kindergartner Gohan getting his neck snapped by Recoome and his skull almost crushed under Frieza's heel), the fact it was placed so jarringly after a fairly happy-go-luck arc, as well as it happening to a relatively ordinary character does make it understandable why it had such a strong effect on so many people. That said, as terrible as Videl's clappening, the chilling feeling I got from watching Gohan twitch laying in a puddle of his own blood after he got Recoome'd takes the cake for me.

If he was not possessed, that kick would have snapped his neck
@@MiguelMartinonAll you're doing is cherry picking examples or cutting out context to give people the illusion of a point.
I am still salty that we didn’t get to see Gohan turn Spopovich into a red mist after the beatdown he gave Videl
The fact that Videl decided to take an ass whooping instead of just ringing him out, she was pretty much begging for it at that point with the amount of times she knocked him down 😅
“Morty he Baned me, he freaking Baned me!”
That whole scene was crazy 😬
6:32 Someone finally puts how I feel on a regular basis into words...
Rest in peace, Toriyama
Can tell KJ's kids were sleep at the beginning got man sitting here talking in lower case
LMAO the call out, I hate you noticed man 😂😭
@@KJMProductions92 ay to be FAIR I did literally click onto this video like 3 min after watching the RIP Akira Toriyama one where you mention you got a wife and kids 😂 coming right from that I was like "Damn maybe he's sad cause Akira, naaaaahhh wait a minute I bet that mfs kids are sleeping" lmfao
6:03 That crack with the knee lol😂😂
As bad as this "fight" was, I still think that vegeta vs frieza was the worst beatdown in the entire series. While videl was beaten to the point of unconsciousness, at least she managed to survive. But vegeta, on the other hand, was still conscious throughout his entire "fight" with frieza, which means he suffered all throughout frieza's torture.
But the biggest reason why vegeta's beatdown was worse was because frieza completely broke his will to fight back, and the only thing he could do was stand there frozen in fear. (Oh yeah, and frieza made him cry, too)
My man throws banger after banger every Sunday so casually, like if it was nothing. true king behavior
My guy still putting out videos with a cold. Keep killing it bro
Bro this is a CRAZY ass title lmfao. I almost spit out my drink.
Sarge and papa smurf comment interrupted my regular breathing 😂
Not only did Videl get "beat so bad she got turned into a house wife" as someone in a comment section from another video said, IMO in DB Super she's not even the same character anymore.
In the manga Goku doesn't reprimand Gohan, but instead looks surprised that he's pissed off about his girl getting SLAUGHTERED
Goku thought she was having fun out there.
I'ma need that "no bean" as my text tone.
I was dying at the bushes baked beans comment
Alternate timeline. Spopovich and Yamu get paired with 18 and Krillin. The saga ends right there.
The beating Vegeta took in Namek was worse for me, because nobody could do anything about it😂😂
Also vegeta at that time was a villain, unlike videl
"She was just a teenage girl"
Me looking at a 5 year old getting sandbagged in the same series
Mans tried to spawn kill Pan 😭
Naw you should of show the fact videl kicked dude head and broke his neck and bruh lift his head up twisted his neck back in place and was still alive
Now that was nasty !
A solution for the plushie punches, just kick, everytime I threw hands in a dream my hands did nothing, but my kicks break bones in my dreams
Can we appreciate that hercule is actually a great martial artist but he just be getting ho’d by superhumans 😂
This forreal
Bro was just born in the wrong universe man 😭 He's washing a lot of peoples favorites from other series, but they aint tryna hear that
Man Bro, I hear the hurt in your voice bro.. We're all going to miss Toriyama..😰 I can tell you though he's proud of you carrying on his legacy by keeping us entertained and in our seats waiting to see your videos like it's all new to us.. That's how Great you are bro. Keep Strong DBZ Family.. Keep rocking K.💯
#LongliveToriyama 🕊❤️
Not the squeaky toy🤣
Bushes baked had me in fits
Can’t even ask big bro what he was cooking anymore 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I think Goku get crushed by Great Ape Vegtea was worse than this. When Goku fought him his body was already badly damaged by going over his Kaiokin limit, then got stepped on and Great Ape Vegtea mercilessly broke every bone in his already broken body by torture him simply squeeze him with his giant hands. Had Gohan,Killian, and Yarobie not intervened Great Ape Vegtea would have took his sweet time torturing him.
RIP EARS AT 5:09. YALL BEEN F'KiNG warned
I can only imagine how good that first Senzu Bean be hitting
I think piccolo glazing up the supreme Kai was unnecessary given that he was putting up jr numbers throughout this entire saga
Big Vitch 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is the only Dragon Ball fight to make me look away, its so brutal and gruesome
Coughing baby vs high top black forces
Android 17's beating from Imperfect Cell was brutal, bro got hit so hard his voice box nearly broke. 😂
Tbh,with how Toriyama handled beat downs, they feel a lot like a lesson in humility.
Videl's VA did a great job showing just how much her character was getting broken to bits.
Videl's beatdown is easily one of the most disrespectful in Dragonball. Like, how do you beat the tomboy out of a tomboy???
Our boy sounds sick this video. 😢
Are we sure it was babidi that possessed spopovich and not chris brown?
Getting up in Pintars guts was crazy 😂
2:00 Nice reference. ATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA!
The only beating worse than this is the beating my brain took while watching the buu saga, hopefully KJM's commentary makes it passable so I can actually get through it this time lmao
Guess you didn't watch Super then 😂
@@MisterCynic18Don't think anyone needs to anyway.
He Flicked Her Bean 🤣👉🫛 in front of Her Dad🤣🤣🤣👉🫛👉🫛
