I want him to be a science fighter. I was hoping in super hero they'd use that dumb supersay-ant gag to reveal he's been studying ki use/transformations in nature or something, buy they just went the "he gets mad again" direction. Perfect opportunity to blend his love of studying and nature with getting stronger, and they just ignored it...
@@MisterCynic18 Well that's not a thing. And they already understand Ki. And that would still be time he's not spending training. Though he said he trained a little.
Your argument fails when the show has a literal time chamber giving you a year in 24 hours. Especially when Dende took the time limit off of it. You can't spare one day a year to train with Uncle Piccolo? Really?
@@richborn6700 It's a good time to remember what the Japanese equivalent of studying and working is and was. It's hours of constant studying, extra classes outside of school(and school was 6 days). And working long days. In Superhero, we also see what kind of scholar Gohan is. One who gets consumed by what he's studying. It's what he loves, and his professional work. Though even then he still trained a little. If we go back to 90s DB, it really wasn't like there was going to be a new threat every week. They went 7 years without anything. They were the strongest in the universe. Older threats weren't world ending in DB till piccolo. Universe threat would generally leave earth alone. Fighting is something most of them did in their youth and wanted to retire, and move on. It makes sense. Plus Gohan would still age in that year. He'd still be away for his family in that time for him. Away from the work he enjoys. And he doesn't have a great reason for it when others can do it, who like it. Plus Gohan is still the third strongest. He's never not been the third strongest. Maybe 17 was stronger during the TOP, it's hard to say. But out of the main consistent group, he's always been 3rd.
There's a video by Plague of Gripes called 'Gohan's Many Masks' that goes into detail about Gohan's character (why he hates fighting as opposed to Goku) and has a pretty good rewrite of the Cell Saga in the latter half. It also had the idea of making Gohan passionate about learning more about ki in general, some of the strange techniques he's seen (Ginyu Force, Buu), and how all that works and eventually teaching people about it, which is a great way to mix academics with fighting. 'Goku loves to challenge himself to fail, so Gohan should love to challenge himself to figure out how his opponent works.' And in the Xenoverse/Online/Fusions games timeline canon, Gohan actually does write and publish a book on ki control called 'Groundbreaking Science' in Age 804. I've always wondered why more people don't talk about this.
I remember watching this arc as a kid when it aired and I spent the whole time hoping that my boy GOAThan would explode with some of that cell-saga energy, but it just never happened. Truly the beginning of the end for poor Gohan
Haha. I know this episode's done and over with but i'm surprised that the "Perc" Angle meme wasn't used for "Big Vich". The buff bald guy in Wrestler Attire who can easily be joked to have been "Popping Percs" because of how violent he was.
Big Vic was literally "I likes ya and I wants ya" type energy. Imagine trying to defend your girl honor and that same grown man look at you like: "Your cheeks are more important than water".
Fighting for Gohan is basketball to me. I’d hop on a court once every 6 months after being begged and would shit on people but I just couldn’t get into it
I know it's moot at this point in the story, but I think Gohan has finally found his fighting spirit in Super. Throughout, and especially ramping up to the Tourney of Power, Gohan found what he was fighting for. He doesn't do it for the fun of it or the drive to best himself like Goku does, and he doesn't have a rival he is trying to one up like Vegeta. He just wants to make sure the world is safe for his family. Honestly that realization gives him the potential to be a stronger protag than even Goku.
I like how 18’s marital structure with Big Krill is lowkey examined . Dawg might be the “strongest” (shoutout Southwest T ) man on earth, and even though she knows he can lowkey get active she also knows that boi is in a perpetual state of pack watch and dosent wanna see sumn wild happen to her husband, and she also probably knows he’s not really gonna do much when it comes to the rest of the justice league he’s flying off with .
Also the first major fumble of the arc, Supreme Kai not knowing the strength of the Saiyans on Earth, then not only allowing but assisting in the draining of Gohan's Ki were major swings for Buu's release. I don't think this arc has near as many fumbles as the Cell saga, but it definitely has its fair share lol
I think that should be one of the first “bag fumbles” they suspect they might be stealing gohans energy to bring Buu back so to make 100% they …….let it happen?! They could’ve stopped them from taking gohans energy in the first place and drawn the same conclusion 💀
Maybe that's why Spopovich was smiling during the last episode knowing he was about to make him look like Glass Joe with his patented Demon Vulnerability Grapple that grants a buff to Draining techniques.
My issue with Gohan letting himself getting weaker. Is he knows that will be a new bad guy and if you want to be able to stop them. You have to be ready no matter how powerful they may be you need to be better then them before they show up. As the old saying goes you want pace be prepared for war, and Gohan was not ready for war in the buu sage.
I think Gohan is exactly who Toriyama intended him to be. And that is an extremely talented person who has different passions from what people expect of him and still carries the same flaws as the previous generation because he never had the interest in developing his own fighting identity so he subconsciously relies on the experiences he’s seen from Goku and Vegeta.
Yeah, I'm not on that meat head mindset. I don't need Gohan to be the strongest, or some sort of ruthless killing machine with no personality like a lot of his stans. I just want Gohan to be Gohan. He recognizes the needs for strength and does have fun fighting, but he enjoys his normal life with his family so much that it often falls by the wayside. Gohan's struggle, and part of his current character arc, is finding the balance between those two things. Honestly, that story is more entertaining to me than Gohan just being a "beast" will ever be.
I despise Gohan 'should be a fighter' edgelords. You can tell by their aggressive comments that they're physically inept losers trying to live through Gohan.
Gohan doesn't need to be a fighter, but actively letting your power go to waste when villains constantly show up to threaten your family and entire planet isn't a good plan either
@@richborn6700Facts, thankfully it seems Super is putting an end to that trend with Gohan maintaining power after the tournament of power and reaching beast form
Can we take a moment to acknowledge that shin let gohans power be absorbed to feed buu's resurection, just for him to tell goku and vegeta that if they fight they only do so to awaken buu. Which is the worst outcome for the universe. So he basically let gohan get jumped for the hell of it
Yeah Shin is kinda one of the bigger bag fumblers in this series if you think about it. Mans supposed to be god of gods but he hasn't kept up with these insane happenings on Earth at all, then does this to Gohan, he later wastes one pair of the fusion ear rings, and I'm sure there's loads more. With Super in mind you can even consider him not contacting Beerus to come zap Buu.
While I completely agree with your take on Gohan and do relate with the feeling of being good at something you don't necessarily enjoy, I guess I can understand when people get frustrated when the story itself tries to set up that Gohan will eventually take Goku's place as the new protagonist, as much as it annoys me when some people act like they expect Gohan to be Goku 2.0. To be fair, it seemed like Toriyama actually tried to commit to that decision, and it wasn't until much later that he finally gave up and admitted Gohan's not Dragon Ball protag material. Unfortunately, that also had the side effect that people are gonna feel that in hindsight all that setup was for nothing, and what we could've initally seen as attempts to keep Gohan relevant during this saga are now seen as foreshadowing to his eventual push to the sidelines.
On the subject of Gohan's lack of motivation to pursue his natural talents; When I learned how to golf for the first time, I remember everyone including my teacher was certain I golfed before. That's something I had a natural talent for but no desire to pursue.
Toriyama was going through some dark times when he drew this part of the story. An editor must’ve told him to chill or something, ‘cause other than Kid Buu vs Halo Vegeta, I don’t think we ever see this level of brutality again for the rest of the show lol

Dude you are hilarious. You had me rolling, I don’t think I’ve ever subscribed to anyone as fast as I did with this mess.
Rikers Island special is wild ☠️🤣😂
Haha. I know this episode's done and over with but i'm surprised that the "Perc" Angle meme wasn't used for "Big Vich". The buff bald guy in Wrestler Attire who can easily be joked to have been "Popping Percs" because of how violent he was.
I wish I could individually thumbs up every second of this one
Gohan is the embodiment of hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
Big Vic was literally "I likes ya and I wants ya" type energy. Imagine trying to defend your girl honor and that same grown man look at you like: "Your cheeks are more important than water".
🤣🤣🤣🤣i cannot with you dudes
Starting to think KJM has slight case of T.D.S 😂😂😂
That Detroit line was so accurate 😂😂😂. I'm still trying to get out. Was in Indiana for work a month in a half ago. Mad I had to come back home.
That is exactly Gohan’s character when it comes to fighting.
6:01 Never thought Goku's love of fighting could be compared to the Booty Warrior but it's so hilariously accurate.
Fighting for Gohan is basketball to me. I’d hop on a court once every 6 months after being begged and would shit on people but I just couldn’t get into it
Man said "absolute *DO-DIRTY* timing" for Bibidi.
😂😂😂
Vegeta hates to see Gohan not utilize his talent he holds the torch for us fans but i love what you said about that whole segment 🙌🏾🙌🏾
I gave it a like because of the funny thumbnail and title!! 🤣🤣🤣
Gohan learned a valuable lesson that day... Loss the rag, u get tagged 😂
Dope vid KJM and I’m on that boat that HimHan should have been the main character and stop the in or out power levels with him
I know it's moot at this point in the story, but I think Gohan has finally found his fighting spirit in Super.
I love yo Vegeta voice 😂
let the 18 vs Satan hype begin
the zoom ins on Vegeta had me rolling!!! 😂😂
Buu was so unhinged.
When the Gohan Show became the Goku and Vegeta Show
Detroit catching strays is crazy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"DETROIT Homies don't kill me" 😂😂😂
Ten toes deep is crazy 😂😂
Ready for the next one Homie ! 😎😎😎
“He has the most latent power out of any of us” -Vegeta on Gohan
YOOOOO WHY DETROIT CATCH A STRAY LIKE THAT 😂😂😂😂😂???? That took me out KJ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Supreme Kai: *Freezes ss2 gohan*
Also Supreme Kai: "Watch out, guys! It's Pui Pui!"
Stop playing with Videl aka the roadkill 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 still funny
The bars this episode were immaculate
That Detroit bar got me crying 😭😭😭😭😭
#7Mile 👇🏾
#Fenkell
What up doe my baby
I love hearing your yap sessions. After you're done with the series I'd love to hear more of what you have to say in dedicated videos!
It tried to take the throne but there's only so many fumbles you can fit into one day as opposed to several.
I think you hit Gohan with a nail on the head
Bro, as a person from Detroit born and raised I busted out laughing when you made the Detroit comment cause that was big facts 😂🤣😂🤣!
7:48 😂 I bet he hasn't!!!
I think that should be one of the first “bag fumbles” they suspect they might be stealing gohans energy to bring Buu back so to make 100% they …….let it happen?! They could’ve stopped them from taking gohans energy in the first place and drawn the same conclusion 💀
Especially when one of them can read minds.
Maybe that's why Spopovich was smiling during the last episode knowing he was about to make him look like Glass Joe with his patented Demon Vulnerability Grapple that grants a buff to Draining techniques.
Gohan got the oz treatment special
0:57 Why Sharpner got the most devious of smiles on his face😭
11:13 shawn cee gonna have some words to say about this 😂
Keep it up tho, I’m here for the Detroit slander lmao
Best one yet NGL
10:50 Oh NAH 😭🔥
That untapped power Gohan has... The Beast Mode.
The Fleece Johnson mention almost made me lose my drink 🤣
Before the boy could grow nut hair! 😂😂
Toriyama was going through some dark times when he drew this part of the story. An editor must’ve told him to chill or something, ‘cause other than Kid Buu vs Halo Vegeta, I don’t think we ever see this level of brutality again for the rest of the show lol
The editor around this time (Fuyuto Takeda) reportedly wasn't as hands-on as the previous two.
@@gespenst1329 that makes sense. I heard the previous guy constantly made Toriyama change directions throughout the cell saga.
@@jcnot9712 His first (and former at the time) editor Torishima was the dude who panned #19 and #20, then panned #17 and #18, till he finally came up with Cell.
@@gespenst1329even after he came up with Cell the editor roasted him for being ugly and rushed Toriyama to get him to his final form. The absorption of 17 and 18 was literally editorial meddling. His last editor in the buu saga was super relaxed and basically approved whatever Akira did. That's why the comedy of og DB becomes more prevalent in the latter half. Toriyama was having some burnout and leaned into his comedy roots again to finish the story. The Buu saga is entertaining, but all over the place tonally compared to the Namek and Cell sagas
Size 8 Saiyan boot! Always reminding us of how small Vegeta is! Lol
