This was perfect timing!! I'm currently in the market for an acoustic myself, and was about to spend $2,500 on a Taylor I was having second thoughts about. Guess I don't have to anymore!
@@stevet6727 i feel the opposite, i had two taylors and traded my last one for a AMI DM1 and placed a LR Baggs anthem SL pickup in it, it sounds better, plays better and fees better than my taylors i have had. To each his own but seriously give the AMI’s a look.

What did you end up buying? If you’re still on the fence 2 years later, definitely look for an Ami/Sigma or a Ditson. All are very very nice guitars for any price point. Insanely good guitars.
Just bought an OMT-28H for some bluegrass and blues playin and love it. Was thinking of getting a Martin D-28 or D-18 but the OG at Earthshaking Music in Atlanta convinced me to get this one, as you get a Martin replica for 1/4 of the price. Glad to hear I made a good choice!

I Googled and found a forum discussion comment that Tilia is from Tilia Americana, a lime tree also known as Linden or Basswood. Basswood is used on some Ibanez electrics, including one I used to own (a nice guitar). It is a very lightweight wood. The wood is not a member of the Rosewood family. It is not usually a wood chosen for acoustic guitar back and sides.
That D-45 style dreadnought needs to be heard with head phones on.... I play a Gibson Songwriter delux studio that i got in Hollywood for $1449 used (Praise Jesus) But the Gibson honestly doesn’t sound that much better than THAT guitar! Super impressed 👍🏾 i guess i should re-think “Playing Authentic” lol
I have had very mixed experiences with breedlove. I actually had a solid body prototype (that I stupidly sold!!) and that really turned me on to the brand. I have played Breedloves at every price point and in each category there were some that were absolutely amazing and other than sounded like mud...
From the youtube clips I've seen, they always seem way to heavy on the midsized...specifically the lower and the upper mids. The lower isn't a big problem, but I tend to roll off 5k on all guitars by default. But I could be making that judgement based on incomplete evidence.
I bought a sigma gme and they're brilliant value. Only the pins suck. I put ebony ones and oiled the neck with linseed oil. Now its awesome. Great action.
@@Brenners2010 The wood dries over time, it needs to be oiled, I oil my neck every time I change my strings, but I guess it depends on each guitarist, but if you have a decent guitar, do not necklet doing this, It may not improve the sound but it will help your guitar to last and last...
3:49 - Being a “14 fret” doesn’t mean it’s a “parlor-sized guitar.” A dreadnought and a jumbo are both 14-fret guitars as that’s where the body meets the neck. That spec has nothing to do with body size.

I have DT-45+ it such a beautiful guitar and it really sounds good for this money. But let's be honest that back and sides aren't solid. Anyway thanks for the video you make useful content.
Stas, why do you say they're not solid ? They are advertised as such. Asian-built guitars are able to be produced much more cheaply than in America, and they have huge sources of tonewoods.
Sigma/AMI all solid guitars are absolutely great value. I've had three and after 50 years of playing/handling every level of acoustic, I think Sigma all solid are the best value for money. That's my honest opinion and I've owned hundreds of acoustics at all levels of value.
Herringbone is a 'design', primarily for fabrics etc..... I always LOVE the tutorials on here. ARE the AMI the same company as the 'newly bought-out Sigma' brand??? UUmmmm

To me the "SJM AG45" and the "DT 45" sound better than the Martin's... (Same for the look) But sound wise the absolute winner is the "MC Pherson Carbon fiber Sable"

Moving to In ears is an amazing step. I know getting the In Ear Monitors can be a bit intimidating for a worship team, especially since the name brand single driver ones start at 100$ :/ I've been doing a lot of experimenting with brands and drivers and such trying to find the best bang for my buck and i would really suggest these. They have 5 drivers in each ear, and their sound quality is amazing. I currently use 400$ Westones *got them as a gift*, and i would compare these 40$ IEM's to their quality. some things aren't too good to be true. Herringbone is a geometric design feature, for instance herringbone tweed suit. The bones of a fish( herring) are symetrically at about 45 degrees off the spine, so it (herringbone) resembles the pattern of fishbones off the spine, get it?
I love the Ami, Ditson, Sigma family of cheaper(price) similar quality to Martin and Taylor, guitars. The fit and finish on those guitars are in many cases better than off the shelf Martins. If you can find a Sigma on reverb from the 70s then by all means spend the money. Otherwise, in the US Ami is the American branding for Sigma guitars. The higher end models are the same materials, methods, and better quality control than Martin. And the Jumbo Gibson copies are insane value at any price point. I’m more of a 000 type of guy. AMI and Sigma are amazing. Ditson is a cheaper, like a couple of hundred dollars, version of the AMI/Sigma stuff. Lower end tuners, still bone nut and saddle and some of them are laminate. Still sound amazing and you can upgrade the tuners. If you did a blind sound test, you wouldn’t tell them apart. All play amazingly and you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of with that name on the headstock. Anyone who will look at that, isn’t going to be convinced regardless of what it sounds or plays like. These guitars are all very very great guitars. And they are gorgeous. They feel and play like an heirloom quality pre war Martin. Can’t say enough about them.
SLM-AGOO = Adirondak top, and ebony fretboard. Please read the specs from the official AMI website. He looked at the specs from the LM-AGOO ; same guitar, but with laminated b&s, and micarta fretboard, visual difference are the dot inlays on the fretboard.
I bought sigma dr-41e looks after the martin d41 it sounds good I don't know if it's comparable to the martin. But for a tight budget this is a good deal.
I have a Martin DRSG Road Series with a solid spruce top and Siris back and sides. Siris is in the rosewood family. I was also surprised at the fact that it was made in the USA because it was a test run model. Normal Road Series modes are made in Mexico.
Am I correct in saying that none of these are electro acoustic guitars? So you are going to have to factor in how you “get these into your church system” You have them mic’d up but most churches (UK) would DI the acoustic guitar in. What would you recommend?

These guitars must be made at the exact same factory where they make the Sigma guitars..Prolly owned by the same people too.. These are basicly cheaper Sigmas. Not all solid wood guitars.

So? It's about sound not solid. Solid guitars will give you more problems. You have to humidify them because the wood will shrink or expand depending on the Weather. The laminate back and sides won't have that problem.

These are nice guitars, but the $2500 guitars are priced that way for a reason. If I had that much to spend, though, it would be a Gibson.

I play a Sigma, which is the twin company to AMI. Amazing sounding and amazing value.

They made 12 Madagaskar rosewood Adirondack top OM models with ebony fret board , I just bought one in December…absolutely beautiful guitar!!

I'm surprised that no one mentioned that Herringbone is a pattern not a material. I've seen it mostly done in brick but it is everywhere.
I weave chairs in that pattern.

I just bought two Ami guitars and couldn't be happier. I had martins and larrives and I like the Ami guitars better in sound and feel.

Ami and Sigma guitars are amazing. The guitars from Sigma(AMI in the US) built in the 70s are still wonderful years later. They are amazing guitars.

I use elixir strings 10-47 and it sings. Don't forget to linseed oil the fretboard as they are dry when they're new.

No. Only the models that start with an S are solid back and sides. All the rest are laminate.
