To be fair he also does misconstrue the functionality of the app. Grindr doesn't have "matches" like most other apps. Anyone can chat with you, view your profile... Send you images... Unless you block them. But you can only see like the first 120 profiles closest to you

To be fair on the age thing, she does say multiple times that he told her that he was 26. She wasn't assuming he was of age because he was on grindr, she was assuming it because he literally told her that he was.

The little kid in me has so much pity for her talking about wanting to be a mum, knowing how mental illness can ruin that. but i will feel 1000x worse for those poor innocent children who would have their entire life live-streamed
Unfortunately, after the initial rush and excitement, Elphaba would not be able to keep up with raising a child, especially when it gets hard and there's no one encouraging and supporting her. Parenthood is a thankless job that gets lonely, even with two-parent households. You don't get village support through the hard milestones, like potty training and picky eating. Elphaba has shown to be a little bit pixie - without attention and applause, she fades away and has no energy or will to live. That isn't enough stability for a 24+ hour a day unpaid job that comes with significant financial responsibility, "holidays" means three times the amount of work as usual, time-off doesn't exist and "quitting" isn't really an option.
As much as I would want Elphaba to be inspired and step up to the challenge and gift of parenthood, she needs to figure out who she actually is and where her place is in this world before trying to teach a vulnerable, innocent child who they are and where they fit in the world. You always have to be the adult in the room when you have a kid. She still has growing up to do herself.
She should adopt a neighbourhood single mom and help her out - get some practice in and fill her urges to make big Sunday roasts. Establishing more local irl community wouldn't just be good for Elphaba, but also help her have a more appropriate village (than mostly online randos) for when she does start a family.

I kept and raised my ex boyfriends son for 2 yrs cuz he was a drunk and out doing who knows what. We weren’t even together but I took care of his 4yr old son. Even with all that knowledge and practice it did not prepare me for having my own. Even though I wasn’t someone who ever went out and partied or needed attention. My idea of fun was chilling at home reading. Being a parent is so hard. This lady is way too dramatic to raise kids right now. She’s gotta get a grip first. When you have s child you’re needs go out the window. The kids always come first
Elphaba can’t even take care of themself to begin with. Doesn’t shower. Doesn’t brush their teeth. Doesn’t do laundry. Doesn’t work. Absolutely no way would they be able to take care of a child.
She’s just damaging herself irreparably at this point it’s so sad to see.

I don't think it's weird to assume someone on a dating app is over 18
Far be it from me to defend her, but the Grindr thing really doesn’t seem like I be her fault. Yes, most people assume those on dating sites are18+ especially when they’re verified, asking doesn’t help when they’re lying, there’s really nothing you can do if someone lies about their age and you can’t tell it. People don’t usually ask to verify age, because if they lied in the first place they’ll lie when you ask again. You can do all the research you want and still not figure out they’re underage. So assuming she just didn’t properly verify isn’t very fair, there’s no way to verify that in a lot of cases. Also, people get off at 3 like you said, so there’s no reason for that to be a red flag.
I’m a Mum of two teenagers (15 and 17) and before you have kids you imagine you’ll be their counsellor and the idolise you etc. They do for about the first 5 years. Then they slowly start to think you’re an idiot who has not experienced life 😂. Honestly Elphabas fantasy of having kids is nothing to do with the reality in any way! What if your daughter doesn’t want dresses? What if your child doesn’t like Sunday dinners and just wants Yorkshire puddings and ketchup?! She shouldn’t have kids though, she clearly can’t take care of herself so how will she care and provide for kids. There is a difference between asking politely in proper context if a trans person has gone through any medical transitions and then asking “did you get it chopped off yet?” I don’t like Elpheba, but I completely agree with her just not answering cause that is such an insensitive and disrespectful way to refer to life saving surgeries. I’m a travs man and I have had people ask me multiple times about top surgery with stuff like “So are you going to chop them off?” Or “What’s it like up there? *references my chest*” Seriously it’s like sexual assault the way cisgender people refer to trans people’s bodies sometimes. Absolutely horrible. I also think people forget that just because Elpheba may not have had surgery yet does not mean she isn’t still trying to get it. Money is just one part of medical transition as a trans person. She may have some other issues the doctors said she may have to take care of first, she may be on a super long waiting list for surgery (In the U.K, it’s hard to get any type of medical appointment, let alone for a trans person regarding their treatment), family creating obstacles, etc. It’s not the same as most other surgeries as people make it extremely hard for trans people to get care, so I feel like people should calm down in regards to her surgeries. If you decided to send Elpheba money for surgeries she was hoping to get in the future, that’s on you.
I'm trans as well and I totally agree. I absolutely hate that cis people think we have to tell them about our private parts. It literally feels like sexual assault. I am a very open person, especially about my transition, because I like to educate people, if they are curious. But only so, when they ask in a respectful way. "Did you get it chopped off or what?" Is NOT a respectful way to approach that, especially if you don't know the person. That's literally disgusting and so invasive and insensitive. I'm not even a trans woman (I'm FTM) but that phrase alone gave me some second-hand dysphoria. I don't like Elphaba either, but she has EVERY right to be upset at that question and not answer it. WE DO NOT OWE CIS PEOPLE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT WHAT OUR PRIVATE PARTS LOOK LIKE LEAVE TRANS PEOPLE ALONE

I’m talking about when strangers and people you just met ask you things like that. I also am not saying it’s sexual assault to ask if a trans person has had surgeries (it’s more just weird and none of your business if asked out of nowhere or by someone you just met). I am saying it becomes that when said in an inappropriate way. Like people asking me “what’s it like up there?” when referring to my chest. If that was said to a cisgender woman, while motioning to her chest, I guarantee you people would call that sexual assault because that’s a gross thing to say. The problem is that people don’t see trans people as human, so they think it is okay to treat us as objects and making constant references to our genitalia and/or our body’s other sexual characteristics. Also, it doesn’t matter if a person is joking. If someone is making jokes about someone else’s body in a sexual nature without first checking that they are fine with it, is considered verbal sexual harassment. If you are making comments to random people inappropriately, making referencing to their sex, that is 100% considered sexual assault. It’s gross. I would also like to say that I started my social transition when I was a teenager. People made these same comments to me then and still do now. It should have been taken seriously as sexual assault when I was a minor and should have been taken seriously as sexual assault as I grew.

honestly, everything about this is just so deeply, achingly sad. at first it was entertaining, i just discovered this train wreck a few weeks ago somehow but i binged all of Alex's videos about it and by this one i just genuinely feel so sad for her. something in her is just so absolutely broken, and its all on display for the entire world. she talks about how isolating it is, and shes not wrong im sure, and at this point i dont think she's really going to be able to walk away from it and have a normal life. such a deep rooted case of self loathing and insecurity, layered on top of whatever mental illness shes got going on, just on display 😕
