That little kitty wants to be the star of the show. I saw it looking at the head of the chopper and I thought "Don't do it kitty, don't do it!!" I ran some kitties through the chopper and I felt terrible when it happened. Farmers do have a heart.
Personally I think the cows actually eat and like the dryer silage better than the wetter silage. But Most dairies have very good production on the 60 to 70 % silage
I remember dad one time rented a ag bagger brand since our 60 ft poured concrete roof partially caved in. We chopped hay in it just to try it. Our biggest hp tractor was 80 or 85 hp Massey Ferguson 285 which was also used on the chopper. If you can imagine the rigamaroe but it was interesting seeing the massy jump forward an running to the max.
Thumbs up for another great video Mike. Corn looked right for chopping to me. Keep at it stay safe and enjoy a mud free harvest this year. Catch you on your next one
I don’t think people realize how much moisture those stalks will hold. We’ve chopped corn after a frost and we were still getting 60% at least. Kernels might be rock hard, but the processor on that chopper will take care of those. Corn was tough this year, yours definitely looks a lot better that what I chopped. He had 4 more acres than last year, and only filled half a 150’ bag. Last year he had extra.
Good video Mike. That corn still looks good for chopping this late in October. Should make some nice feed. I guess I didn't look too close but does that bagger use internal cables I didn't notice a backstop or is it one of the press types? We have an old Kelly Ryan that basically collects dust the rotor in it isn't good enough to use for feed, we do drag it out every so often to bag sawdust bedding. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Jim. Its a Roto-Press bagger. It uses an auger as like a screw and presses the silage into the bag. It doesn't have a back stop but it does have brakes on the wheels
Another great video! With your channel growing and folks watching all over the world, I have a couple of suggestions that would help for new viewers like me. Either in the channel description or in an intro you need to describe the location of your farm and the surrounding area (a map would be helpful) and also describe your farm operation (we farm XXXX number of acres and we primarily raise ???). It would also be helpful to describe your family or those that work on the farm (a picture would be helpful). Just a few suggestions....
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy the videos. I appreciate your suggestions and I'll probably go through the about tab and give it a fresh upgrade. Thanks for the suggestions
Have you ever considered Agri speed hitches? We switched to them a while nack from even our old style "not so speed hitches", best thing we did for gaining down time while switching wagons. Just an honest question to ya.
It's come up in conversation but nothing too serious. It's like most things, when we are doing the job we think "we should try those hitches" then after chopping is done we forget about it. Maybe some day
Thank you Paul. I mentioned it at the 3:44 mark but basically we have work to do on our silo unloader so thats the only reason we aren't using the corn silage silo this year
I think the only silo company that I know of in North America is CST industries which sells Harvestores. There is a company thats about an hour north of us that works on silos that we get to work on ours
Great video Mike. Nice to see some silage getting chopped. Thanks!
Thanks Ames. It was a big push to get it done now I have to get all the videos posted

Yeah that would have been horrible if it jumped up in the header. They are pretty good at taking off once the tractor fires up
I was thinking the same thing
Good job compadre
Thank you. I appreciate it
good start well done !
Thank you Jack
Looks like some good corn to chop ! Chop on !
Thanks Julius. Its some really nice silage
Awesome Mike. That's some good looking corn! First bag looks great. Can't wait to see more.
Thanks Zeke. Stay tuned for more
That bagger does a nice uniform job from some of the others I've seen. Always enjoy the videos
Thanks Jonathan. It does a pretty good job. My buddy has used both style of baggers and says the agbag makes a tighter bag
I finally got all my harvest done for the year
Awesome Richard. It's a good feeling once you get harvest all done for the year
@@mikep7810 yes it is
Never ran that style bagger but something different to see have a safe harvest
Yeah its definitely different. My buddy has used both and he says the agbag makes a tighter bag. This unit has always worked pretty good for us
Another great vid! Very informative and interesting! Have fun!
Thanks Gene. I'm glad you liked it
Mike that corn looks perfect I think the sweet corn threw peaple off that was really dry great video
Thanks Paul. I'm glad you liked it. It was some really nice corn silage

Yeah, its finding what works for you and your cows
Beautiful shots! I always enjoy watching your silage videos. And cat appearances.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy the silage videos. There will be more of them on their way
Looks green enough to me. We switched to bagging all our haylage and putting all our corn silage in the silos.
I liked when be bagged haylage. Faster to get a scoop then our silo unloader was
@@mikep7810 yep that's why we've gone that route.

Thanks Scott. It's always good when the weather cooperates during harvest

Yeah I had a feeling corn was going to be a little less than last year because of the dry summer we had
Those beans definitely look good. That will be fun cutting.
Thanks Jeff. I'm looking forward to getting after them
would be nice to have a third person running the tractor on the bagger so you could unload and go
The 4055 did a great job on the bagger. Only a couple times did I need to adjust it. Plus we only had myself and my dad that day

Great video as always wheres your son at haven't seen him in the videos with you
He has been in school when I filmed a lot of these videos.
That bager is cool. Do you think there is less spoilage in a bag then in a silo. The silo has spoilage on top.
I'd say they are about the same. Unless an animal or birds rip open the bag and a lot spoils

We used to move the draw bar over on the hauling tractors. How many bucket loads of corn silage do you feed a day?
Probably around 8 buckets
Do you ever do any chopping? Or does your Dad do it all the time?
I have a couple videos up of my chopping. If you stay tuned to the next video you will see me chopping. Majority of the time it's my dad that does it.
U still going to do high moisture corn
Yes we are still doing high moisture corn
what's the reason for no silage in the silo?

Hey Mike I was just wondering how long are those Chopper boxes? Are they 16ft or 18ft
They are 16 footers
Why not purchase another wagon
Because there are plenty of other things ahead of another wagon on the priority list
