Great to see your spreading set up and the barn cleaner. Awesome to see a Lamco forage wagon in the picture. Always liked seeing Lamco wagons when I was a kid. Good NY built product.
Good work 😊 A tip when you load the spreader is to park it so you only have to turn 45 or 90 ° when you load it . Much faster and easy😇 marry christmas from Sweden 🇸🇪
We had a John Deere slinger, which I really liked better than the HydraPush we had before it. You learned really quick which way to spread on windy days with our open station tractors, lol.
I've never used a hydro push. As a kid I had a bunch of hydro push toy spreaders! When I was a kid we had New Idea box spreaders with the apron chain and back beater then graduated to a V spreader
@ the idea behind the HydraPush was no chains to freeze and break. It did work well in the winter because the sliding floor acted like a squeegee when you pulled it back
Yup Mike, that's is definitely how the winter goes on the dairy farm goes in the winter. Pretty repetitive in the winter as long as everything is going as expected. I don't know, we spend as much if not more cleaning the spreader with a spatula and scraping the spreader flights with a crowbar in the field. We've never had a problem. We use an H&S with the rear beaters for years.
Thanks Mike for the video. We are thinking of getting a new 5215 now. We would be going from a Kuhn to the h&s. I just don’t like the augers on the Kuhn. They are a pain when hay gets wrapped up in them. Especially on the ends of them where the square parts stick out of them. Have a nice Christmas.
I believe its around 300 feet long, as long is there are not problems and everything runs smoothly it takes about 15-20 minutes to run. We run it twice a day
Thank you Kyle. We clean the calf stalls out by hand. The barn is layed out pretty good and flows really well. The one main thing I would change about it is the calf stall set up. I'd almost like to have the calves in a separate facility
Thanks for showing that Mike, really crappy though (jk great vid), our gehl freezes in the same place and it doesn't seem to matter how well you clean it it finds a way to freeze, the previous gehl before this one I don't think we had near the trouble this "new" thing gives us
Yeah I will say when it does freeze it doesn't take too long to thaw out. Put the heater on and and feed cows and things should be pretty much thawed out
Is that a H&S design, or did they get the Rights to the Gehl Scavenger Spreader's? Originally a Hedlund Martin Scavenger. Do you have any experience with them, or just the Kuhn/Knight Slinger's?
I honestly don't know. My uncle used to have a Gehl. Our first V spreader was a new holland. I believe they were the same spreader. I can't remember if Gehl made them for New Holland or New Holland made them for Gehl but the H&S is the same style spreader so possibly bought the rights.

@bigtractorpower thank you. My dad was proud of that wagon. I dont remember it. When i was a kid we had the John Deere 714

Yes indeed, same work different day. I'm sure there will be some out of the ordinary stuff pop up that I'll film and make a video on

Thank you Jason. That's the move we made and we have been really happy with the H&S
Does a good job!
Thank you!
Hey Mike sorry to bug you just wanted again to wish you a Merry Christmas.when you set along your mine keeps moving .
You don't bug me James. Thank you Merry Christmas to you as well!
That spreader actually spread that alot thinner than I expected it to.
Thick bedding packed hay will be a little clumpy at times but the spreader does a pretty good job breaking things up and spreading it nice
Great vid sir stay safe 🏴
Thank you Ian
How many foot is your barn cleaner chain, how long to make one revolution & how often do you run each day??
I believe its around 300 feet long, as long is there are not problems and everything runs smoothly it takes about 15-20 minutes to run. We run it twice a day
Nice setup for the heifer barn. Do you clean the calves by hand or move the panels and clean with skidsteer?

@mikep7810 Gehl made the NH, under the Scavenger patent. Perhaps H&S bought it after Gehl closed the Ag Division and NH did retool for production. 🤔
Where’s the 4040 mike?😁
If you look at the thumbnail picture the manure storage building is by the heifer barn, the 4040 is parked next to the manure storage
Looks like just under the roof has been on fire on the barn.
A lot of that old fiberglass needs to be replaced. I'm glad our barn has never been on fire
@mikep7810 well that's good I thought maybe it had been on fire once and you guys luckily got it out looked melted.
Hey MikeP7810, can you do a video of you milking the cows sometime
I probably will this winter. The videos I've done milking in the past have been in the winter when I'm not in the fields
👍🙂
Thanks Carlos
Hey mike i really lije you tell all of your video to people that dont know about what you do on the fram.
Thank you James. I do just about anything and everything. Some days not matter what is planned you never know what you will get into
