I wasn't going to watch another Scott Tibbs demo, thinking I'd heard it all, and he does this. Glad I watched. This is a magnificent package with three synth engines - and a good VA! THANK you Roland for using rotary knobs, and giving me that little synth panel like I'd been dreaming of.
11:42 - This is the vintage Scott Tibbs style of playing that would get me to buy Roland gear of the past... Would like to see more demos from him along these lines. Besides, Luke Edwards over on Korg gear does a fantastic job of doing recreations of songs on Korg's gear.
Im a Roland Fantom user and tried it all from the first Fantom Fa 76, fantom X, fantom G, FA 06 and 08.. also an integra 7 user. All i can say about this new fantom, its great if you use it integrated with computer/VST.. Also the new controls makes it better.. but i still need to try it in person before deciding getting it which is i always do before buying a new synth.. in terms of sounds, theres really nothing new on sounds coz the sounds ive heard on this demo can be produced by any other synths/modules if you are only giving time on how to edit your ADSR( Advance delay sustain and release).. Lastly im still interested with this new synth. The outputs and new computer connections are great to have. The touch screen is not amZing coz we know this is old technology, even the korg trinity from the 90s has that touch screen already. Thanks Roland. i dont know if does it have a smooth transition? Hope it does coz you are too late.
For years that Scott Tibbs does not leave the same ... of his pads and electronic beats in his presentations of keyboards! Please ... Somebody do justice to these incredible musical machines! Or At least, someone with more creativity .... It must be the son-in-law of the owner of Roland .....!
Holy shit... where did you find that guy?! His chops are INSANE! Oh yah.. and the keyboard is ridiculous.. Amazing! Was he launching Ableton clips from the iPad bit in the middle?! Do you have to take out a mortgage to buy one?!
Piano is superb but it’s a pads machine, for €4500 I want to know if its va engine is more powerful than Omnisphere plus Keyscape. I’d like to know something about ZEN-core technology. How many GBs of samples are there stored? Are they new or recycled from Integra 7? It’s not clear if this Fantom can reproduce the Jupiter xm sounds.
Do you think that most of us can play like these? We are working people.Sometimes we have time to play a little in the evening and create moving thinks like you?Hahaha
It's ACB lite. Some things aren't modeled like the LFOs and envelopes to allow for more polyphony. It's the same thing with the new Jupiters. Supposedly the Jupiters have a bit more juice in the sound, but darn, Fantom sounds sweet enough!
I really need to be able to control and trigger the clips (patterns) using the pads. It's a bit difficult to work with the screen for live performance. It's very important. I change the clips and work with the mixer at the same time. Changing the clips should be accurate and quick.
Plenty to be list worthy of this board.....but at this price, should really have library access, not just synth engine, but all sort of ap/ep access. Am I right, it can only load single shot user samples?
Great Upload, poor soundbank from roland. From someone that's owned 2 previous Fantom's there is nothing new in this one from Roland. Good design and structure but not one new sound that makes me what to part with 4 grand. Very disappointing.
This guy playing isn't going to pick EDM sounds ya know...just say'n. He's a bit old school I'm sure. There's 1000's upon 1000's of sounds to pick from, (and) you can make your own from scratch too which is what I've been doing as the new Fantom is not a rompler, it's a crazy powerful synthesizer (as advertised). They have 15 expansions already and they're starting to include SN sounds with the coming update, along with ZEN-Core expansions across all ZEN-Core hardware. Users across different Z-Core hardware will be able to share sounds too.
"Hey McFly! Wanna see a REAL workstation butthead?" Nice demo as always from Scott. Sounds like a Montage in some ways but seems to lean closer to the raw power of the Kronos.

Moving pads, edm-stuff, arpeggiators....But still at the level onboard stocksounds in Logic and it's all in my Omnisphere plugin wich sounds fatter. Bleep, bleep...i don't need that stuff on stage and if i need it i use mainstage. Pianos, rhodes, good (synth)horns, leads, strings, organs and so on is what i like to hear and have under my fingers on stage and a keyboard like this is a stage thing to me. Piano sounds very nice but i'm not impressed by the sharp, synthetic sounding Rhodes. All those arps, i'm not going to pay for that. It's the DAW age, workstations are passé and Kronos or Motif sound just as good. And for esthetics : why the red backpanel?
I agree the eps have no life I hope they make a Electric Piano Engine similiar to the V Piano where you can adjust the amp and tremolo and other parameters of the Rhodes
Dude, I love Omnisphere too, still deciding whether to get Zebra or upgrade to 2.X first. But you're sad. Bleep bleep? Someone must be using that stuff a lot, me for instance, because there's a lot of "bleep" in Omni too. People who have to talk crap, I have no time for you guys. For those not liking the sampled EPs, you guys are sure picky. Even KORG includes sampled pianos both acoustic and electric in Kronos alongside the SGX and EP-1 engines. And they sound fine, as do the pianos in the Fantom. I have a feeling if I did a demo using Kronos, Fantom, a Karma, Omnisphere and some other softies, and asked which was which, not one of you would say a word.
