i literaly shed a tear when i found out i can do legs workout with my back injury .. WHAT A RELIEF ! i thought i'll never workout again tbh but out of all the influencers in the fitness industry you're the best man ! thank you MAN !! keep uyp the good work
Me too! I have been crying all day yesterday bc I have two back discs and nerves that are totally damaged. The Dr told me that I can't do any workouts involving lower back in my life😞 no dead lifts or squats. I am such a workout lover! I am happy I found this too
Same here . . . I hv been so distressed for the past 6 months . . . My backbone is degenerating at an alarming rate . . N i can't do any major exer without stressing more on my back. 🙏
Definitely going through the same thing at the moment. Had to change my whole approach to leg day. Those spinal injuries definitely ain’t easy to overcome.
Fun fact: I’ve been following your UA-cam page for 10 years and this is my first time commenting on one of your videos. I’ve also injured my back handful of times throughout my 20 years of lifting. Your videos have positively changed my healthy lifestyle! Thanks 🙏 Steve!
Been dealing with a back Injury for like two months now, yeah it sucks. Fun Fact: watching someone like yourself document there journey through back pain and how they recover and come back from that maybe the best fitness video on UA-cam.
This videos couldn’t come at a better time. I’ve been suffering from sciatica pain for the past 7 months bc of a L5 S1 bulging disc. Just had my 3rd ozone shot and feeling much better, before I couldn’t even put my socks on without that shooting pain, now I can put my shoes painless again! Today is the first day that gyms reopen here in Oregon so that pre workout in conjunction with the tips at the video would definitely help me get back on track!! 🙏🏼💪🏼
Thanks for mentioning - Leg extension - Hamstring curls - Lunges Don't forget the additional exercises easy on back and keeps spine straight: 1. Single leg squat, with resting foot on a bench/stair 2. Front dumbbell squat with lower weights 3. Hamstring bridge (feet further away from glutes) 4. Leg press, Machine squat press I recently recovered from L4 bulge and L5-S1 herniated disc in 3 months. Still don't do high risk or heavy weight lifting.
THANK YOU! Have been battling an L4 L5 S1 bulging disc for about a year and a half now . And still trying to keep my gym routine as normal as possible. Between flare ups. THIS JUST HELPED TREMENDOUSLY!! Thank you for posting! Plz keep these coming !!
Same. L4L5 herniated discs since I was 16(I'm 25 now). I appreciate this video a lot Steve!! I use the back squat(where you sit on the machine and squat not the one that goes on your shoulders) and leg press.
Been waiting on a video like this. I broke my back 2 years ago. Now have 2 rods 8 screws and a Jack in my back. Can never squat or deadlift again in life. Finally a leg workout that’s not based around squatting. Thanks Steve!
I’m your #1 fan. I’m from South Africa but living in Canada for 20 years yikes. You inspire me to workout each day, I look forward to your vlogs. My sister living in South Africa had a brain aneurysm and has been in hospital for 4 months she’s now in rehab and has to work her way back to being strong. I haven’t seen her in 14 years!!!! That’s something I haven’t told anyone on UA-cam 😊
fun fact: when i was freshman i wanted to learn more about lifting to get better at football and a stumbled across a man by the name of steve cook. now for 5 years i always been watching his videos and almost every workout and routine i know was from watching his videos.
I always watch Steve’s videos at work. A co-worker asked me to DM him on insta and bet me that he wouldn’t respond back. So I asked Steve to make a golf vlog (b4 the golf vlog). Steve responded back and said “Okayy!!” Made my day! 👍👍
Decided to train for a marathon this year so there's no excuses with training after gyms being closed for the last year, and 2 days ago I benched 315 for the first time since Feb 1st 2020 which was a lifetime PR. Back at training, hitting some deadlifts today! Tried your chocolate protein, and love it. Would love to win this giveaway to try out your pre-workout!
You inspired me to drive 2 hours to try Chick-fil-A for the first time in my life and now I’m seriously considering moving so that I can have it regularly... Steve cook changing lives for the better
I'm currently in school to be a PTA. Physical therapist assistant. Awesome your doing Physical therapy. You made the right choice. And today we learned about spine segments. New exactly were the L4-L5 is. Keep at Physical therapy is life saving
Hey Steve- Just wanted to say hey and say that I liked your vlog. Im a retired cop from central NY. Been in the gym for prob half my life. Several years ago I injured my back and now have a herniated disc in my lower back. Delt with it mostly by myself through the years but have seen a chiropractor on occasion. Recently I " threw it out again" but this time it was different. Ended up in the ER and came home with muscle relaxers and pain medication. Want to get back in the gym but was hesitant to train my lower body. Your video was extremely informative and gave me some hope to continue training. Thank you again and as always TRAIN ON!
fun fact - i was planning to skip squats tomorrow for my leg day coz i dont feel like it and then i came across your video which i'll be following tomorrow. thanks also please pray for my mom's health, she has been detected with stage 4 lung cancer. thanks in advance. love and respect :)
This past Monday i woke up with the most debilitating back pain i've ever had. Took it easy for a couple days and was so happy to see you uploaded this!! Going to go do this now & getting a spicy deluxe right after :)
Fun fact: made it a goal to get my first full unassisted chin up and pull ups during quarantine up here in Canada - and I just achieved both! Next up: 135 lb bench press 💪🏻
I'm gonna show this video to my husband! So we can try these workouts since we both have back issues that sometimes prevent us from working out. Thank you for this!
Fun fact: I found you by following Morgan! I had heard your name before but never really knew who you were! Now I loveeee your content and obviously love it with Morgan too!
Hey Steve thank you for this video I struggle with my back problems regularly. I will be adding this to my routine. This is my first time commenting even though I have watched for years. You have been a huge inspiration and influence in my fitness journey. Thanks brother keep up the good work and good luck with your back!
I lost over 30kg and turned it into pure muscle, I now have a six pack and Im so much more happy in myself. My transformation to a better life took just under 3 years :) Love you Steve, youre an inspiration.
Fun fact: I was an obese teenager who spent all my time playing video games. At 19, I lost about 50 lbs and began to notice loose skin so I decided I wanted to build a "little bit" of muscle.I found a workout plan called "Big Man on Campus" by one Steve Cook. I'm now 27, with a physique I used to dream about, and am graduating from UCF with a B.S. in Exercise Science.
Fun fact :Inspired by the man (Steve cook ) , quite been an engineer and now i have my own gym , studying S&C coaching , Working on my Clotting line . thank you Steve
Threw my back out during a petography shoot- found a phenomenal Chiropractor correcting minimally for minor spinal adjustments over time (I feel phenomenal-I also do 3 main yago movemts for my back). Then I too THEM on as a client and shot their maternity session a few months later. Delivering their sneak peak today! But his chiro practice and those 3 yago movement stretches saved my back that apparently had a heck of a curve to the right in it. Correcting it over time.
Man I love your workouts, you are amazing and absolute idol to so many guys like me. Thank you for so much information and great workouts. Keep growing and keep slaying workouts.
Fun Fact: you were one of two top celebrities I wanted to meet. So thank you for allowing me to work out at your gym and being super awesome to talk to!!
I have literally the same injury as you, disc bulge in lower back (I got injured doing heavy squats). Thanks for this video I'm going to try this at the gym tomorrow! I hope I heal up and I hope you are feeling well too. Great physique btw.
Fun fact: is that I got the same injury you have. and 2 weeks ago, one day before your injury I sent you a message on Instagram asking you if you have a program so i can buy it to help me workout again with such injury. I think you didn't find my message and now I'm getting it for free 😂😂 I hope you get well soon bro ❤
Fun fact: started going to the gym in 2016 because my hockey coach wanted me to put on more size, next year I had the most reps on bench at the combine. P.S love the golf vlogs
Oo I finally found a video where the person is training and have the same injury as me I have herniated disc, well four outta my five I think was messed up back in January and last week I re aggravated it and now I’m forcing myself to train because I have a goal I need to accomplish
I had an L5 S1 discectomy just over a year ago so I avoid going heavy with anything on the spine. Thanks for some reminders for myself but also great tips!
Got my wife a peloton for Christmas.. She didnt know santa brought it for me 🤫 Love the vids, long time viewer. Ordering supps soon so I can support the CULTURE!
Thanks man. I’ve been experiencing low back pain after leg day for about a month or so. Going to switch to something like this so I don’t fuck my back up.
What UA-cam doesn’t know is I’m currently training for the St. George marathon trying to qualify for Boston, while being able to bench 300 and squat 375 all at the same time, weighing 165! Let’s get that box so I can get stacked like Steve!
I'm a pro golfer and a huge fan of you Steve. Your videos have made my golf game a lot better. We need to get out and play! Thanks! PS I hope that is considered a fun fact haha.

Fun fact for me: well at least I think it’s a cool fact, I’ve lost 70lbs over the past year! Went to a concert. Cried at photos. Started the next day haha. Still going!
My right quad is bigger and stronger than my left, I could really use that pre workout to help get them even. I used to watch your epic collabs with Calum von Moger and you are my inspiration.
Fun fact: for the first time in my life I’m needing to do cardio, age is catching up with my metabolism. 😭 glad we have Steve Cook for the constant motivation!
I’ve had 2 double lung transplants and after each I was back in the gym 12 weeks post surgery and I’m in better shape than anyone at my department. Not fun but inspirational I think lol
