- WTF DOES “OG KPOP STAN" EVEN MEAN?! Supposedly "original gangster”, can be seen as “old generation", personally viewed as “old-school”.🤓
I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since.
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis and seizures; I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with the genre. Luckily, I'm in remission now! Doesn't mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups of I don't take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as "normally" as possible.
When I made this UA-cam name, I was thinking from my graphic-design-major perspective of a brand that will not only describe what my content will be about but will also align with the times, and y’all know that “Kpop stans” have been a thang for awhile now so hence the cringe-worthy title, OG KPOP STAN. (My love for Eminem is also relevant.😂) ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛 Sooo I am currently and actively keeping a weather eye on the KPOP horizon!

Even NK love their sound... Their song ie fingertip and Rough, a very different song was plagiarized by North Korean girl groups.
This song and "Time For the Moon Night" are my two most favorite GFriend songs. Eunha's high notes at the end still give me chills two years later.

Bruh, it's true. The choreography looks simple and easy, but when you try doing it. It's hard to control your body to be like how graceful their movements are.
This is the Gfriend sound, orchestral pop! Gfriend's signature sound!!! From 2015-2020 (Crossroads) they released orchestral songs mostly on season of Gfriend aka winter!

I really appreciate that we also get a dance practice react cuz, in GFRIEND's case, their older mvs always tell a story, it's v cinematic/drama-like (which they deliver with such greatness) but they also have really amazing choreos that aren't shown to the fullest. they do it all, it's so pleasing to watch both sides
Again, GFRIEND's choreographies are very lyrical. Like in 10:07 & 10:47 "getting closer (gakkaweojyeo, 가까워져)" and they get closer. In 10:51 after "the farther it gets (meoreojigo isseo, 멀어지고 있어) and they get farther (full lyrics "the more I get closer, the farther it gets"). 10:55 "I'm in fear" (geobi naseo naseo, 겁이 나서 나서) and their hands on their head like in fear. Just few examples...of course there are more if I try to point the whole song. The more I understand Korean, the more I feel amazed seeing Gfriend's song and choreography.

Gfriend will never disappoint you with their Music. (Only if you really know who Gfriend is) They're the group that get a lot of hate for who they really are. But... They'll never change the fact that The G for Gfriend means God.
Don't wanna take other groups up, but in my country, people who know only BLACKPINK and TWICE say GFRIEND has no upbeat music and boring concept and sleepy music. I just realize they have no aesthetic, no musician eye. Just have a joy with upbeat heartbreak and lollipop songs.
You should check out some of their variety show- as a muti-stan, ive watched alot of group and gfriend are probably one of the chaotic group. the member are super funny, loud, they care for each other, not your typical shy girl group. they really dont care for their image, i think thats why people call them "beagle friend". I know you only check out dance and mv, but i think you should start checking their personality..(if you have the time)

Sunrise is my most favorite era. You can se their Sun Choreos in the beginning. The Sun Ray and the Sun Blaze is so powerful.. i very like it. Those arms that sways upward and sidewards? when the camera is on their top, you will see it literally. GFRIEND the best

The end of Sunrise is one of my goosebump songs. Every time.
There is a lot of symbolism in this video, which tells the story of GFriend, that runs through almost all their MVs. In particular, the song 'Sunrise' is a continuation of song 'TFTMN' (Time for the Moon Night). To retell all the moments and history is too long, just one example. 2:25 - 5.30 on the clock - time for rising Sun (in the original the song is called 해야 - 'Sun') and at the same time Eunha's birthday (May 30), which the girls celebrate. But after the sunrise she disappears according to the general storyline.
By the way, on your wall you have GFriend logo from "Time for Us" album, where the title track is 'Sunrise'. (GFriend logo changed with the release of each album.)

One thing I enjoy your reaction video on Gfriend is your focus both on the music and the choreography. "Sunrise", along with "Crossroads", and as well as "Time For the Moon Night" (don't think you have reacted to this yet), formed Gfriend's "Passionate Melancholy" era. They share the same composer and producer and are probably the most representative songs of Gfriend's signature sound of orchestral pop. You will find string dominated melodies that exhibits the sense of drama and sentimentality. While many of Gfriend's songs showcase their vocal, particularly Yuju's. "Sunrise" is often remembered as their vocal feast as other members pitched with high notes as the song progresses towards its epic ending.
Btw, the starting formation shows a "Sun" from the aerial view. It can be seen on a number of their music show performances. Also Gfriend danced in a circle on several occasions very much portraying the radiating sun, reflecting the theme of sunrise. As noted, I too enjoy watching Gfriend's back-slide and spin in their dance. This is something very particular to Gfriend.
Beware that "Sunrise" is a sequel to "Time For the Moon Night". Thanks for continuing the exploration of Gfriend's discography.

Gfriend is my 1st ever GG for 3rd generation & it'll forever will be. I missed them so much that I couldn't not express it with words. Other kpop stans keep on saying that Gfriend's songs all sound the same (as a drag) but i believe that they just haven't heard all. You're right that their songs have a lot of variety, you can choose depending on your mood. I appreciate that you appreciate Gfriend just like Buddys.
