I homesteaded my land, started with an 8x8 shack now I have a nice house with all the amenities , had I not homesteaded I would have given all my money in rent and now that I retired I’d be on welfare or homeless. We need to change the building laws in this country to give people a chance to improve there own lives not the landlords

A car, a shed, a house. All are boxes and all can be nice. This shed is perfect and easy to maintain. Enjoy!

Check your local building codes before you buy one of these to live in. It may or maynot be allowed without spending a ton of money.

This is NOT considered up to residential standards. In most places you'll need an already standing home on the property, making this a "shed." As your primary residence, there are too many zoning laws for this, raw, stand alone, to be considered.

So much better than a tarp or a tent. If only more of these were allowed. Even without plumbing and electric it is a huge upgrade for thousands of homeless people. They live out in the open , at least this offers some safety and more protection from wind, rain and snow . Put half dozen and build one shower/ bathroom shared space. If you let " normal" persons or veterans they may have the knowledge and ability to finish off the insulating etc. Somehow there has to be an answer

Agree! Making this doable until laws are changed may involve thinking outside the box, which is difficult for most of us, and this combined with going just a little bit under the radar, could work out., at least temporarily. A contingency plan in place. My cousin wanted a place to live for about 3 yrs while he attended grad school and made this work. I think he exchanged the improved shed for “rent” at the end. I realize this is not what many are seeking to do.

I currently live in the barn which doesn’t meet code and I was told unsafe to live and yet real estate broker were able to falsify MLS and sell as house which means I can’t get
my money back until I win a court. What I have been gone through inside the barn is overwhelming and often thought that living in brand new shed like this would be way better

  • @Light_Worker

I been thinking about this idea all the time. Would be nice if you could also take a custom orders for unique designs which wouldn’t cost crazy money

You need property plumber electrician insulation sheetrock ceiling fan light fixtures paint then kitchen and bathroom will be 20x the initial shed price. Budget 30k to 50k.

It has nothing to do with finishes, it has to do with whether it is a habitable living space or not.
You could put in all of those 'finishes', park your lawn mower in there and it is still a shed.
In the same way, that even without the 'finishes' inside, and with an outhouse toilet, outside kitchen, you can still live in it and it becomes a home.

Just like my 22 ft drivable camper, but without the wheels, bathroom, closet, refrigerator, range, stove, exhaust fan microwave, carpeting, all the Cabinetry and a nice mattress-- but a lot cheaper.
I live in my RV without running water in the winter time, when it must be winterized. At that point, the two are more similar. So, bare bones for me, I could live in this with electricity and a couple windows for proper ventilation, a good mattress and sleeping bag, some kind of small refrigerator/freezer, double hotplate, tea kettle and preferably a composting toilet, a Sun Shower, a couple of good fold up plastic dishwashing- type tubs, a few jugs of good water and a place not far away to refill them. My Backpacking camping gear could be used if there's no electricity. I tent camped in my 4-WD Subaru wagon all my adult life in CO and the West, grew up camping all over the South in a 50's pop-up camper, lived on a sailboat in Kentucky for 3 years, raised my kids in a mobile home, finally able to buy a condominium at age 50. As a widow in my 60s, I bought a 22' Winnebago Rialta and have been criss-crossing the country in it. I still have a handful of states to visit, but I've been to British Columbia, and also lived with my husband in a few other countries, due to his work. Oh, I left out living 4 years in a small Hair Studio converted to an efficiency apartment. So I've learned a LOT about organization for travel AND living, and design efficiency! And I could be a tour guide for Colorado, but I'm living in another beautiful state now. Sorry, I didn't realize how long this was! I got a bit carried away, but I do love frugality, good design and being outdoors.

So doing it all yourself depending on your abilities I'm thinking about another 3>5K to finish it? (And I'd insulate the walls) And then there's city and state codes. Unless you keep it looking like it's just a shed and power it off a nearby established source. And water too. So there's more to it than meets the eye 👁️
    🤔✌️

Sadly, due to zoning regulations, the majority of the time the city/county won't allow that, which really stinks. Not that my opinion counts for anything, but I think if you own a piece of land you should be able to build any size house you want on as long as you stay X amount of feet away from the edge of your property line.

The overall idea that this can be a home is great but this guy is oversimplifying the differences between a house and a shed. I recently learned from a commentor on another video that the windows may leak and/or it may have other issues. Do your research, plan well and set your expectations accordingly.

Wish my county or nearby counties allowed tiny homes. 1100 sq ft or larger is the least you can build or buy. Otherwise you could have one of these on a trailer without a foundation.

A house is NOT just a shed, just look at that framing,no way this framing would pass for "livable space" considering the FRAMING ONLY,this is NOT CODE COMPLIANT for living space, now can u physically live in it yes, just tell the whole truth people!!!!
