I hope you don't give this up. You're about the only channel that brings us late 20th century Fiats and Alfas and I'd really miss seeing them. Especially cars like that Punto in my favourite colour of all time, Broom Yellow! I'd buy it just for that 😂

4:15 There is a little button at the top left. You have to push it and pull whole pannel by holding the volume button. A bit tricky, but I love it! 🤌 Italian work!

Don't "go away" Neil, we love your videos here on UA-cam - maybe try being in parallel on TikTok as well? But definitely don't "abandon" your channel here. That HGT really is in really good shape given its age and the sort of climate it's been facing all those years!

Yes! Finally the Mk2 Punto gets the love it deserves! Thanks for listening to me, Neil!
EDIT: about the statement you say at the end, if you wanna gain more subscribers, I say that you need more classic Italian cars and maybe add a sense of adventure too.
M539 restorations is a great channel because it showed the great side of vintage big BMWs, and the last trip to USA is an alltime winner.

Oh wow, i'm so happy to see one of them on a today video ! I have a Punto 2 1.2 16V (80HP) and i love it so much, i did have a Punto 2 1.2 8V (60HP) before but my motor broke due to a segmentation problem, the internal of the motor blew-up. Instead of buying another car, as i say, i bought the same but with the 16V motor haha and for 80HP it has a pretty decent acceleration and speed, it surprise my friends everytime i floor it to insert me on the highway. The electric direction is tiring me but i love that car so much, it always bring me from point A to point B without leaving me on the side of the road ! I do a lot of highway with it without any problem nor back pain and let me say that it has a lot of space for luggage, i even did a moving with A LOT of various furnitures haha, my ex gf was so surprised about that when we did go buy furnitures for our home with that car. We even put a washing machine and a disher washer at the same time in it (with the rear seats lowered of course).
Thank you a lot for your video ! :)

This is the only Chanel I watch for 90’s and early 00’s Italian cars. Hopefully things pick up again next year. I’m not sure what changes you could make. I enjoy things as they are. All the best.

Just found this channel. Owned a 1996 cinquecento sporting in yellow when brand new and then a 1997 punto sporting 1.2 16 valve, also in yellow. Both were great cars and very reliable. Apparently there is only one 1997-99 punto sporting 16 valve left on the road in the uk!!! So sad that a whole generation of interesting left field cars will disappear for ever thanks to our throw it away and lease a new car attitude in the UK these days. Love an old Fiat!!

Please dont forgot your work - the visualisation of expert knowledge - is unique for this type of classic cars. You reduce the fear about potential projects of your viewer and that’s one really great result of your last years work. The younger generation will love your kind of explanation. Maybe you have to find a supporter/employee who makes your live easier and let you concentrat to your core tasks. Wish you all the best.

My sister had a MK2 Punto porting 3 door in Yellow. It was a great little car. The only reason she stopped driving it is because some idiot drove into the side of her. The car was destroyed unfortunately but she was OK. She got a Seat Leon Mk 1 after that and then a MK2 Leon and has a Hyundai IX35 now. Would have bought a Seat Ateca but they were all autos and she did not want an Auto not at that time when she was a busy Mother for the first time and had too much on her mind.

Dear Neil, I really like watching the videos. As some others already pointed out, you're one of few who actually spends time and effort on repairing and filming 90's and 00's Alfa Romeos and Fiats! Maybe, the “How it’s holding up” videos are sometimes a bit one-sided. But for the person who just happens to be looking for that specific model car, it’s a priceless video. Perhaps, adding a test-drive at the beginning of the video might help to make the videos a bit more interesting. It will be more work to make, but I really believe it will (sometimes literally) shine some more light on the videos (the workshop tends to be a bit dark). For example, a seemingly nice car at first sight will reveal some of its weaknesses during the test drive and some more during the inspection in the workshop, which in the end could make the car not worth saving. Whatever you do, I realy hope you keep making these videos. They are really helpful!!

Being a rare car does not automatically make it desirable though.
The reason there are not many Punto HGT left, is because they didn't sell very well when new, and the ones that did sell, rotted away, broke down with bills so large making them economically unviable to repair, and generally got trashed as they were not worth saving.

  • @0000oooo100
    @0000oooo100 Рік тому +1

I don't normally watch videos like this, idk why it popped up (Maybe because of the awesome title?) but I clicked on it because I had a similar year punto, not the HGT but obvs I always wanted the HGT one. The other car channels are getting lots of views because they are super enthusiastic about the cars they're talking about. They're using top cameras and have people filming and editing for them. They design their shows (yes cus it's a show). They write show notes and scripts. I can tell you know your stuff and I liked the video for what it was, but you have a very typical middle England mono tone to your presenting style, which I love, but it's not where the money is on this platform. The money is going to MrBeast. Like it or lump it you gotta ask yourself: Is this the kind of content creator I want to be.. I watched the early days of Mighty Car Mods and saw it grow and change and you can do that if you want it enough. Go out, film B-roll, forge a brand for yourself, have inflated emotional responses to oli leaks and problems that need fixing (make it a point to do some kind of silly editing when you spot something that needs attention), get catchy music, edit videos like a mad dog on heat and watch the subscriber count grow. UA-cam has given you a platform, take it and run hard with it my man. Get some help editing the videos, you can't spread yourself to thin, let someone do it for a cut of what the video makes. You can't do everything yourself all the time. Successful people are great delegators. You got something good going here so put a rocket under it.

I've just garaged mine for winter. 57k on clock full fiat dealership history from new, no advisories of warning lights 👌 also just got a private plate D777 HGT. If any one is interested in fiats in the North of England I'm taking mine to several fiat owners club events next year around the Manchester area

Such a good looking car…style & design definitely fine performance at engine bay!
The only question why Mark II only had 3 unit left in the road?…
    What happen? 😅

I had a Fiat Punto HGT 1.8 which I bought from a main dealer, it was great for the first year then faults started to appear, it turned out it was an insurance right off, not knowing the laws about buying a second hand car at the time I took a huge loss

That’s in lovely shape! Hope you don’t reduce your videos, hopefully the drop off in viewers is just down to time of year………looking forward to seeing what you have in next! The YT algorithm is rubbish these days - it keeps showing me Ronnie Pickering and the Wealdstone Raider!

There’s a trashed one parked not too far from my home, a two minute walk. Have never seen the owner use it or move it from where it’s left to rot. Poor Punto. Yes, it’s an HGT, not a Sporting, and I live in Rome, Italy

It's so typical for the italian cars of the era: on the outside the body look just perfect white the rest dwells underneath!
    Anyway, a really nice one!

What an awesome little survivor, remember when these used to be everywhere, can't understand why Fiat sell such limited models now, they need to pull their finger out!!

Neil I would recommend doing a video with Auto Alex and his 20v turbo coupe
Could get you some more views what you really deserve
Otherwise at least for me everything is great 🤙🏼

I look once a month for one and my search always comes up with nothing, I used to have a mk2 sporting with the 6speed box, nearly 9 years later and I will hands down say it was the best car I ever owned

That colour really doesn’t show up the imperfections, so it’s a good one in my opinion.
I struggle with any small imperfections on my gloss black Spider. And it’s a nice happy colour too!
