Sadly, he's doomed to be forgotten for the eternity, only with you remember him and giving him a chance of shine in the realms of what-ifs. Raditz will forever be in our hearts...
He should have just been yet another random Saiyan if they were just gonna use Gokus brother for like two seconds. I mean, who specifies blood or general family relation to the main character only to throw it all away? Damn it Toriyama!
I've thought of Raditz not so much as a coward in the traditional sense of "fear of death" but more of "fear of being forgotten" and "fear of not mattering". His home and family are all gone, the only others left don't think much of him, they're all three abused and terrorized, then he finds his brother and is rejected. His bravado is hiding pain more than anything. In my mind, once he can start to heal and move past all the trauma, he's a really chill and fun guy who actually has some brains. Not super smart, but knows how to think things through, can successfully follow Ikea instructions, change his own oil, that kind of thing. He is still Saiyan though, and has to put in more work on kindness, mercy, and forgiveness. He doesn't want to be a heartless monster, he just ended up that way, and monsters like Frieza try to turn everyone around them into monsters too.
Funny thing is that in a what-if saga in DBZ BT2, Raditz loses his memory and is exactly what you think would be before his memory returns and has to leave
to me, he became the king of hell. he trained, became super saiyan, then mixed it with great ape and unlocking super saiyan 4, even then he isn't satisfied and seeks absolute power. he never stopped training and fighting, his desire for revenge against both vegeta and piccolo fueling his need to get stronger and kakarot his main motivation, if his little brother could become so strong then there's no reason for him to be weak, he just need to train.
Raditz pretty much serves as an example of Toriyama's unconventional storytelling. Almost no other writer would treat meeting the main character's long lost brother whom s/he only learns about halfway through the series as insignificant as Toriyama does.
Even Cell is a pretty likeable character in Xenoverse, Xenoverse simply did a good job at connecting the mentor characters with the player... (Plus the fact that their dialogues are oddly reminiscent of DBZA, a series which actually managed to make the characters more interesting through dialogue)
@@ProcyonDei Considering Xenoverse also has a Voice Option for your Character that is no-joke-straight-up just Abridged Nappa, for all we know that might have been partially intentional?
It is strange But I suppose in a way Raditz only purpose was just to drive the plot forward and that’s it. Whenever you hear Saiyan Saga you usually think of Nappa and Vegeta. But never Raditz. Maybe the mistake was making him Gokus brother which played into this state of missed potential. Maybe if he was just a random Saiyan then would we still care? Who knows. It is strange how much the series and games don’t really give him attention
Your idea about Raditz being used in place of Cumber like that did sound like an interesting timeline. I would love to see you a full what if about that, if you can. Regardless, can't wait to see what you do with Raditz next!
I have completely given up on Raditz ever retuning in the show, I have made my peace with this but I am comforted with R&R Raditz. Thank you for giving him the attention he deserves.
We may never see Raditz in Dragon Ball Super, but we will always have him in Dragon Ball R&R. If they do make him return then they need to make him stronger by saying he’s been training in Hell for many years
in regards to the idea of Cumber being Raditz, I instead enjoy the thought that his power would be a result of Fu's experimentation. "Hmm, I need a saiyan specimen to experiment on... Oh _hey,_ no one will notice if _this_ guy goes missing, haha!"
What you'd like to see happen: Raditz returns, becomes an integral part of the Z team, redeeming the character for all time. What would probably happen: Raditz returns, becomes an overshadowed bench warmer, keeps Yamucha company.
Don't worry, Raditz is a full Saiyan. That means he gets mandatory spotlight privileges and can overshadow the human heroes effortlessly :p He'd actually be a very interesting middleground between Goku and Vegeta, the brother of one and the ex-servant of another. He wouldn't be blunt and sadistic but not a goody-two-shoes either.
Except I don't want to see that happen because his redemption story will be half assed, given how toei handled Super at times. Think about it, when U6 was introduced to us, many fans were hoping that caulifla, cabba, and kale would be a bit explored more in their backstories and personalities. What is cabba's life like with his occupation in the army? How does others view him? Where are his parents? What is his goal in life beyond serving the public and keeping the peace? Simple things. We didn't get that. Instead, they were given a transformation and then that's it for development. They have no goals of their own. They're just walking power levels like jiren. Bland characteristics that I have no interest in investing.
Raditz could come back as a powerful fighter. He is a Saiyan after all and Goku's brother but the problem would be creating a Vegeta part 2. If they did they could make him a loner like Broly.
Honestly the worst thing about how Raditz was handled, is that he's not the only one, and I doubt he's the last. Its why I always cringe when I hear people complaining that Goku hasn't surpassed Beerus yet, because the second he does...Beerus will probably become as irrelevant as Raditz currently is. Toriyama and co treat too many characters like toys, they play with them a while, then get a new toy, and the old ones collect dust in the toybox.
You are right, but my guess is that the most recent reboot (the one starting with Berry’s) was done to finally move the show past Z in a coherent way. Super flopped fairly hard as it didn’t really add much, but this was definitely made to retcon GT and such. Still, it’s clear they never really learned their lesson since most of the cast hasn’t gotten any real love in over 2 decades.
Yeah I doubt Beerus will vecine irrelevant... First of all.. He is popular like hell.. Second he plays a big part in-universe being the god of destruction.. Third he is still stronger than most of the main cast even if Goku surpasses him... If they keep using Krillin,Gohan,18,Trunk ETC... They will also keep using Beerus.. Remember Raditz was never as popular as Beerus when he was introduced and he was also weaker then pretty much everything that came after him... I mean by the time Vegeta got to earth A lot of the Z warriors had already surpassed Radits..
@@obiwanshinobi87 tbh beerus is already hardly used for much beyond reptitive jokes as it is. (I’m not saying he never does anything, just that his role from BoG has already changed lmao) A character like krillin is still used too of course, bur i get the complaint that characters like him aren’t exactly treated with same level of bravado and respect that they used to get. While he probably won’t go as extreme of the way of raditz; i think op’s fear of beerus becoming another krillin and piccolo rather than just staying a “beerus” is fairly realistic considering it’s already been happening to him. Their fear isn’t that they’ll NEVER use him again, just HOW they’ll be using him in the future once he’s surpassed.
I think the biggest insult I've personally seen to Raditz is when XenoVerse 2 gave you the ability to modify move sets and color pallettes for the teacher characters, they gave NAPPA of all people the ability to become a Super Saiyan, but not Raditz. So he's the only full or half blooded Saiyan in the game that can't do it, not counting characters with stronger variations that will be able to do it later, like Kid Gohan.
@@tristenhays1182 To be fair, he's not canon, and probably one of my least favorite of the teacher characters, except for maybe Slug and Bojack. Although come to think of it, I haven't even tried to see if he gets the transformation too.
@@seekingabsolution1907 Yeah, I agree when it comes to the moveset, but his actual teacher questline is awful because it requires you to use TP medals to buy his minions clothing in order to progress it. But at least you don't need the full set for each minion.
He served his purpose, to introduce the franchise to the Saiyan race. Once he served that purpose he wasn’t good for anything else, (at least from Toriyamas perspective).
What happened to Raditz is a consequence of Toriyama's off the cuffs style of writing. By never planning far ahead he tends to indivertibly self-sabotage when it comes to characters and story concepts.
Another great video essay... Or whatever you'd call this! I really think the "side" characters should get some more development. Raditz stuff would be great, but Yamcha, Tien, and a few others should get some time as well. A few of the "side" characters are getting pretty old and I fear if they don't do something soon they could just disappear. Giving them time in the next Dragon Ball series would be amazing, but I feel like something like a spinoff series just for the "side" characters would be better. Taking away from the "main" characters screen time might change the dynamic of the show a bit too much. Of course there have been filler episodes in the past, but what would you prefer? Characters as great as Yamcha and Tien becoming filler characters, or them getting an entire show to grow and develop?
Yeah, I agree! It would be awesome to have a little spin-off show on Tien&Chiaotzu busy with the Dojo, looking for new prodigy fighters as well as everyday life, or something like that.
Would be cool for them to fight foes on their level. Goku and other strong Sayains would stay out of the fight since it wouldn't be a challenge. They would continue training with whis or other gods for future foes trusting friends to finish the battle.
A character who never got to reach his potential. But us as fans we have to keep his name alive.Toriyama heard the fans to make Broly and Gogeta cannon we just have to keep pushing until we are heard.
Dragonball Multiverse does have an interesting story involving Raditz where in his universe Kakarot fulfilled his goal of wiping out the humans, but the isolation had driven him mad. Raditz tries to keep him in check and does care enough for his little brother that when he learned the Elder Supreme Kai from another universe could make him stronger he proposed that if he made him stronger he would defeat Vegita and Nappa, the current strongest in their universe, and leave the rest of their universe alone. It was a deal for the lesser of two evils since Raditz was still not a good natured being, but the Kai could tell he was being honest in this and agrees to unlock his full potential.
@@Tamamo-no-Bae And that's what makes me even more disappointed with the current narrative. They go through all this trouble to finally introduce the concept of alternate universes, *and they don't do ANYTHING with it.* Beyond Zamasu, the other universes only existed to give us tournaments. Beyond that, we'll likely never see any of them or their inhabitants again, which is stupid. *We now know there are other Saiyans out there.* Ones with more latent potential than the ones from Universe 7. You're really telling me the writers don't want to explore that more? An entire treasure cove of story content dwells in the other universes. As Brainscratchcomms once said, why can't there be a Saga, or several sagas, consisting of the heroes having adventures throughout those different universes? You literally have an entire established multiverse on your hands. *USE IT.*
Honestly if you took out the fact that Raditz is Goku’s brother it really wouldn’t change anything which makes it pretty pointless. It’s just weird because I feel like in any other series the sibling of the protagonist especially one introduced as a villain would be a much more prominent character than what Raditz was.
Yeah in most cases they would be what Vegeta is now to the series. A character that had issues with the main cast, learned to work together with them (reluctantly) to the point they more or less started to adapt to those around him including their then major enemy and now they have a friendly rivalry.
Well, being the brother of the protagonist does not have to make you relevant, in fact since Goku never saw Raditz as his brother or accepted being a saiyan it is normal that he does not want him back, Goku chose his adoptive family instead of his biological family which is one of the most important things in the saiyan saga, and Raditz serves very well to exemplify that.
@@condedooku9750I don’t really think so, Raditz was basically a intro boss for the real antagonist of the Saiyan Saga just guy to be defeated and show how strong Goku and friends need to get. He was also the person to reveal Goku’s true origins as a saiyan but also making him Goku‘s brother was kind of pointless.
He could return if there were anyone in the Dragon Room as passionate as MasokoX about Raditz. Maybe they''ll look at FIghterz DLC polls & see how popular Raditz really is.
Dammit you're right. Even I never included Raditz in the Ultra Army and that story was mad popular using characters from the tournament. I think Raditz is honestly the most underrated or underutilized out of everyone
This is an odd thought but if they do add him to Figterz all it would take is one person using him to win a tournament for him to get a big popularity boost and the extended media team will focus a little more on him.
The perfect way to reintroduce raditz would be while also adding cooler. As long as cooler was a big enough threat that raditz would have to be on the good side, Gokus simple mind would totally go "wait friezas brother? WAIT I HAVE ONE OF THOSE". Hopefully he's been training in hell and maybe because he still has a tail they could introduce ssj4. Just food for thought
Having Raditz be a catalyst to bring ssj4 into super would be awesome. Ssj4 is the highest form of the tainted after all(legends reference). not to mention it would be a different path from Goku and thus relevant. Just come up with an excuse to revive Raditz from hell, have him show off the new form he acquired while there, and presto. You have a grand enough way to make him relevant again.
I'll be real. I really enjoy what you do with Raditz. You breath life into the characters that imo get no attention. And that's what Dragon Ball needs. More angles to think about these characters. Raditz in fighterz would be cool but not really my choice. There's a few characters I'm still holding onto hope for. Top choices are King Piccolo and Arale. Both represent IMO what the game is currently lacking. Arale-the joke/Only loosely connected character. And Demon King Piccolo Would be kind of the only purely DB(no z no gt no super)character in the game plus they could do a great dramatic finish since Gt Goku Is in the game. Sorry for the ramble lol. I'll end off with Dream dlc pack for DBFZ Raditz Arale Hercule Pikkon Demon King Piccolo. If you read all the way through my ramble. You're a real one. And I appreciate you.
I've recently been thinking about the concept of a hell-related Super arc that delves more on how that realm works. Imagine Raditz showing up and serving as Goku's guide into the underworld? What if, after all these years, Raditz has mellowed out and is mostly chill? (like how Bardock is portrayed recently)
One of the best fights in the series. From that point, they rarely showcased battles where team actually mattered. It always ended up with one dude being the main reason they beat a main bad guy. Nappa- Goku destroys him alone Vegeta- they actually did need to truly team up for this one Freeza - characters were really just stalling until Goku showed up and eventually wins with very minimal help until ssj Cell - Gohan with very little help
I honestly say he should come back. Not as a punching bag. But a slow redemption. He's honestly so weak that mostly anyone can take him and he doesn't have a ship so he's stuck on earth. So this might be a way to show him humility and make him understand that he can't get his way.
I like to think it's this channel that has made Raditz (at least somewhat) a popular character in the fandom. Masako, you showed the internet what the potential is for Raditz.
You know... considering what happens in the Granolah saga (if you know, don't spoil others) This *technically* would be the prime time to set up Goku to know about his actual family. But knowing the dragon team they'll probably just toss the info aside after the Granolah saga and once again have Goku not care(mainly because Grandapa Gohan will always be his father figure) The worst part of this all is that I was thinking for a moment if Goku had a family gathering, but I immediately stopped when Goku wouldn't be the sort to even do that at least, not anymore.
When I was a young lad playing Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 one of my favorite parts of the game was the "What if" sagas, of those one that stuck with me a lot was the Raditz themed one "Fateful Brothers" where through a series of events Raditz had a change of heart, it didn't go as far as I wish it had but it always had me thinking of the guy and what could have been.
Raditz is a character that was given potential and backstory but it's potential was wasted, but, they could've done the same as ginyu where they Brought him back to the show and giving him his own new story.
I remember reading a Fanfiction a very long time ago where Goku pleads with King Yemma to bring Raditz up from HFIL, explaining to him the story as to what's going to happen on Earth and why he "Needs all the help the Z-fighters can get." King Yemma grants it on the sole basis on Raditz getting training to help fight off Vegeta and Nappa, and the story proceeds from there. It got me interested because after Raditz' arrival and subsequent death he doesn't show up anywhere else, Broly movie and current Manga plot notwithstanding, so I'd like to see him make a return after having, not necessarily reformed, but grown up and stopped being such an enemy.
I think a sad example is Xenoverse. Xenoverse gave me an appreciation for freeza who until recently I really didn't like. His story line and mentor sections were a treat, it explored and built upon his character. He wasn't the only one, most of the mentors were a ton of fun in how they were expanded, gohon and videl being the great saiyan duo, cell wanting a companion/rival. For crying out loud they actually gave turless and slug actual character moments. but raditz? Not so much. I don't recall him doing anything interesting in his sections which is such a shame because it's where you could have the most fun. Heck it's one of the only times we can ever see radiz, nappa and vegeta on the same team and or working together.
Poor Raditz. It's thanks to this channel that I've fallen in love with him, and now I wish they would see his potential, just like Masako does. Honestly? I like to think what Masko does can be considered canon, especially since Multiverse and time travel are a thing in dragon ball proper, all you gotta do is pretend it's in a far away alternate timeline/universe. Oh well. If They won't do anything with him, at least Masako and the Raditz stans will.
I think it's much less Toriyama forgetting characters and more him coming to the realization that the cast of characters is getting too big and he has to drop some to give focus to others (which the latter doesn't even happen after dropping characters from the show).
@@dadtaro9202 Okagron is right though. When writing, one of the things that ruin narratives is the "too many cooks in the kitchen" syndrome. Gotta cut your losses.
@@Kruegernator123 he technically is though. He retired when the original manga ended in 1995. Though he just came back to the series, but it’s not any where near as regular as when he was making the original manga.
I also would like to add that it would be interesting to see Raditz interact with Vegeta, maybe it would be similar to how Vegeta reacted to the G.O.D, after all Vegeta was the prince of all saiyans, I bet it would shock Raditz to see him being nicer and more protective; letting Raditz learn from him.
Raditz.. Such wasted potential. Forever mocked by Vegeta. I think he would've been great to have a rivalry alongside Goku and Vegeta. Raditz would've been a good middle-ground between the two. Edit: Gohan could've been the middle guy, but he's a NERD. But as the guy on Freeza planet 419 said: "I CAN SEE THE FUTURE! GOHAN IS THE STRONGEST IN THE UNIVERSE BUT STILL DOESNT DO CRAAPP"
Gohan’s personally my favorite character, due to his personality. He has more than fighting on his mind. And I think him fighting because he has to, in order to protect his loved ones, than wanting to fight as it’s something he enjoys, makes him more compelling. And just so happens Gohan has more potential than most other characters in the series.
Battle of Gods was a good chance to bring him back. They could just change the whole SSJG ritual so that it needs more Saiyans and not necessarily pure hearted ones and ask Shenron to revive him.
:o I think people might've really liked that. I was never offput by the family/friends solution (plus the Videl pregnancy reveal was really cute) but that sounds very very interesting. Having Raditz in Super from the very first arc?? Man now I gotta do a What If on that...
My man Raditz has been needing some form of spotlight. For example I would love to Double Sunday someone in FighterZ. Or maybe a small side story because it crazy to me that Goku would just forget his own brother, especially since Raditz at least showed that he cared for Goku at some degree.
Raditz feels like his role was already fulfilled, despite us being used to the whole trope of "evil blood relative being a recurring or ultimate enemy". His role was to deliver the message to Goku and plot twist to the fans (or technically retcon, as until that point Goku was loosely based on the Monkey King from Journey to the West) that he's actually an alien from another planet who were powerful space warriors, as well as being his brother. Also despite being celebrated as the strongest being on Earth after the climactic fight against Piccolo, Raditz also showcased how much stronger he was to Goku as he didn't have a chance on a one-on-one match as a mere taste of how much stronger he and his other friends, Vegeta and Nappa are as fellow Saiyans. There's little reason to bring him back, same with virtually anyone else we've met that Goku didn't befriend by now... unless if we wanted to see more gag scenes where he's easily beat up by Goten and Trunks, similar how those two were a handful to Mr. Popo, who also once gave Goku a hard time long ago.
I think the same, people just want Raditz back because he's Goku's brother, if it wasn't for that everyone wouldn't care, Cui is a good example of that, the guy was Vegeta's rival, so strong like him on Earth and he was the one who revealed that Freeza was on Namek and was going for the dragon balls, one would think that a character like that would be important in the story but... It was only used to show that Vegeta could now control his power level, to explain the Zenkai and show that he has gotten stronger, after that he was completely forgotten and was never used for anything anymore, Cui has less screen time than any other named villain (even less than Raditz) and we couldn't even see him really fight... But the fandom doesn't care and has absolutely forgotten about him, he doesn't even appear in the Xenoverse videogames unlike the damned Appule who didn't do ANYTHING in the series! Because nobody wants Cui to come back? Because he is not a saiyan and he is not Goku's brother, as simple as that because he and Raditz have the same character development (null). Honestly, I wish Raditz had been used more at the time when he was introduced, but at this point and after so long I don't think it's a good idea to bring him back, they already did that with Frieza and everyone said it was a rehash to bring him back to life/give him importance 4 times already, let the old characters rest and bring me something new to the plate.
@@condedooku9750 Same with their parents as well. Bardock and gine don't serve any plot relevance and development especially considering how toriyama and toei treats goku. They're just fanservice and not anyone who will give goku any meaningful growth
@@lapplandkun9273 Bardock and Gine only serve as a background story for Goku, they have already fulfilled their role in this regard so there is no point in reviving them.
I agree that raditz has been treated badly and to a lesser extent nappa, I've decided to change that by bringing them and launch as well as adding Suno, tarble, and tights to try and help out during the android saga in a reboot story I'm writing
Just a correction, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure doesn't really tie back to Dio that much. Only two parts are actually directly about him - Phantom Blood and Stardust Crusaders. Battle Tendency doesn't involve him at all, instead focusing more on the origins of the stone masks and vampires in general, Diamond is Unbreakable only has him as part of a single character's background, Golden Wind does have his son as the main protagonist but doesn't actually involve Dio at all, instead opting to flesh out the stand arrows more, Stone Ocean technically involves him indirectly into the plot but only in the same way that the Android Saga of DBZ involves the Red Ribbon Army, Steel Ball Run completely replaces him with Diego (although an alternate reality Diego does have The World as his stand rather than Scary Monsters) and Jojolion doesn't really use Dio at all. Not sure what Jojo: LAND is going to do.
@@MILDMONSTER1234 Only because Pucci believes he's finishing what Dio started. You could take Dio entirely out of the equation and Pucci would still work as a character.
It'd be dope if they had Raditz was molded into an enforcer for the afterlife during all that time off-screen. Like he was first whipped into submission for hell by basically being a slave, but slowly earned rank and regard in the shadows of hell until he basically had a higher role keeping order than they've ever had alive. And when pressed on whether they want to be revived they scoff "Why would I ever want to be brought back alive? From what I hear... Vegeta and Frieza are not only alive, but are far stronger than I could have ever comprehend! No thanks, I'd rather serve a purpose here than be a lap dog to Vegeta or Frieza again."
I just think with how ridiculous it is that Freeza and Cell come back over and over and Buu coming back twice (with Fat Buu and Uub) its crazy that GOKU'S BROTHER has never returned. That seems like prime perfect material for an arc. Bring back Goku's actually family and even say he's been training in hell or whatever. Have him as a reluctant character who isn't quite as "evil" as he was (due to his sentence in hell). Give him a ridiculous power up like you do with most of the main ones. Hell, have him as Piccolo's rival. Something!
Who here has the Raditz Funko Pop? I do.. but in all seriousness I am so glad that MasakoX gave the day and time to give Raditz to shine and I thank you
Raditz gets so much love in the DBS card game. Has two leaders, is featured in two boss monsters alongside the likes of Broly, Goku Black and Vegeta, has a Great Ape form, and decent deck builds.
I want him back but only if they write him having his cowardly manipulative personality, because if that is taken away he'll probably be like anyone else in the show. This is what made me like Raditz in the first place.
My favorite what if in the DBZ games will always be Raditz losing his memory. He gets to be a good brother to Goku and Uncle to Gohan, there’s also the scene where he hallucinates seeing Bardock and fighting him. The ending to that what if was heartbreaking! They need to do a DBZ what if series cause I would love to see that what if animated.
I get that a lot of people who forgot about Raditz and what he has done with the series, even I still cared about him from day to day with more research and fanart; but whatever happened to Selupa(Fasha)? And does anyone know of Rozie and Kakunsa? I still remember them from Universe 2 (I love them so much than Ribrianne, in human and their transformations) and when I asked anyone to call who are the fighters from Universe 2, they immediately say Ribrianne and… that’s it. All the characters that’s being tossed aside is something I really can’t tolerate, and making them feel useless and utterly pointless, honestly feeling like they were there to not be there anymore, giving them no purpose to give their origins and other important/unimportant details. Just saying…
I think using a blood relation to goku, while contrasting to the erath-raised sayin, shows the true nature of the sayin race. It emphasizes the divide between the goku and his wayward kin, but it confirms the not-so-sutble hints that goku is not human, opening up a whole new universe of enemies and potential growth of goku’s power.
What if Raditz, instead of trying to recruit his brother, used this opportunity to escape the Frieza Force and tried to get Goku to help fight the Space Tyrant.
That was the plan. Go get Goku, throw hands with Freeza. The fly in the ointment was the saijans learning of the Dragon balls and presence of a namekian (Piccolo) on earth and correlating that to the previously unconfirmed power of the namekian wishing orbs. When they learned of a namekian on earth and the coinciding Dragon balls, that is what sparked the whole Namek debacle.
That's why I deeply appreciate the if raditz was good story, holds a special place in my heart, just wished someone like toriyama or toyotaru, saw and replicate it
I mean there is a case that people in otherworld can get stronger. Wouldn't that mean Radditz could come back obnoxiously strong as he's watched Vegeta and Goku grow so he and maybe nappa train for their revenge in death and for a neat wish (probably from Frieza) maybe bring back baddies for the z fighters to fight individually. Both sides have casualties insert fanfiction here and boom! An interesting concept for a mini series for the fights and how it plays out. Maybe with loads of luck and dedication and animation team to fanimate the whole deal.
I believe that a saga where Raditz is revived and trains to the point of mastering SS4 would be interesting. The biggest point is bringing Raditz back, but I believe it’ld also be interesting to canonize SS4 and put it as an opposite concept to SSGod/Blue, while being similarly powerful.
I don't care how many power ups they create, or what kind of God's they introduce, or how many characters get done properly. I will not be satisfied until I see Raditz get redeemed somehow!
I love raditz He introduced dragonball to the universe He's the main characters brother He's a whole level of power above the entirety of dragonball He's incredibly important
Raditz was set up to have potential for a comeback from the get-go. Being Goku's brother. Super shown us that there were several ways they could've done it but decided not to. Imagine "Raditz Black" instead of Goku Black, everyone would've been checking in to see what the hell was happening. Or they could've Frieza/Goku him and revealed that he was training all this time. On top of it all, he has at least some familiarity with Goku's family and could've been a sort of conduit for him. Idk, seems like a decent narrative path they could consider for once.
Hmmmm…..it couldn’t possibly be because it’s been way too late ever since the Android saga? That he’s missed every reasonable chance to grow and battle with his brother? That one Saiyan saga character no longer holds the water needed? I feel bad that GOKUS OWN BROTHER of all people suffered that nonsense T-T
Raditz will never return? I have a Breaking News for you guys: Today, Raditz is Back in SSJ3 Form in the episode 42 of Super Dragon Ball Heroes!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D
The core problem with Raditz is something that you guys touched on in the very first DBZA episode, Raditz is explicitly tied to Goku in a way that suggests importance and he is then never used again. Raditz could have been a random warrior who happened to survive the genocide of his race and absolutely nothing would change. The reason people keep coming back to Raditz is because he feels so massively unfinished. Raditz inherently invites a ton of questions and ideas because he is Gokus brother. The fact that he of everyone came to Earth to find Goku suggests that on some level he still wants that familial connection when in practice he would have been the same had he just been a hencheman sent by Vegeta to see if Kakarot was worth anything.
Yeah Raditz is under used your what if Raditz turned good made me realize that and made me wonder why Raditz wasn't the Saiyan that turned good I mean I do like Vegeta Raditz is Goku's Brother
I wish raditz and nappa would be revived and be their own pair . A wario and waluigi to the goku and vegetas mario and luigi. I think they would be more fun than canon broly who doesnt really talk or doing anything of consequence. I greatly enjoyed cumber though i wish he was in the universal tournament, it wouldve been cool if he was raditz though i agree

Remember Tarble?
That's a very good read on that! I guess Saiyans would view him as one though. But yes, eloquent take on it!
would be really cool if he lived long enough to explore that arc :/
I agree with you
@@MasakoX I find him to be the Saiyan that is mocked for being weaker than the others more so than labeled a coward.
Funny thing is that in a what-if saga in DBZ BT2, Raditz loses his memory and is exactly what you think would be before his memory returns and has to leave
Raditz really should've come back by now. In my mind, he's been training all this time and waiting for his opportunity to escape the afterlife.
to me, he became the king of hell.
he trained, became super saiyan, then mixed it with great ape and unlocking super saiyan 4, even then he isn't satisfied and seeks absolute power.
he never stopped training and fighting, his desire for revenge against both vegeta and piccolo fueling his need to get stronger and kakarot his main motivation, if his little brother could become so strong then there's no reason for him to be weak, he just need to train.
He escapes hell and turns out to be a legendary super saiyan lol. I’d love that

Raditz pretty much serves as an example of Toriyama's unconventional storytelling. Almost no other writer would treat meeting the main character's long lost brother whom s/he only learns about halfway through the series as insignificant as Toriyama does.
I always like Raditz's characterization as a mentor in Xenoverse 2. He just wants someone he can trust.
SAME! Honestly his portrayal in Xenoverse made me love him.

Tarble: Welcome to the neglected Brother zone, just be glad you haven’t been replaced by your own family
in regards to the idea of Cumber being Raditz, I instead enjoy the thought that his power would be a result of Fu's experimentation. "Hmm, I need a saiyan specimen to experiment on... Oh _hey,_ no one will notice if _this_ guy goes missing, haha!"
That's fair I guess. Our stance was more to bring eyes to the promotional anime and what better way to do so then buff Raditz
That means he gets mandatory spotlight privileges and can overshadow the human heroes effortlessly :p
He'd actually be a very interesting middleground between Goku and Vegeta, the brother of one and the ex-servant of another. He wouldn't be blunt and sadistic but not a goody-two-shoes either.
I feel like if Raditz WERE to come back (which he won’t, sadly), he’d keep his tail and eventually discover Super Saiyan 4. Just a dream, though.
Yamcha and Raditz sharing a drink would be cool. Yamcha could teach Raditz sports and Raditz could teach Yamcha long hair care and Double Sunday.
Beerus doesn't do anything noteworthy, so him being surpassed wouldn't do much. Beerus exists as a benchmark for Goku and Vegeta to overcome.

A character like krillin is still used too of course, bur i get the complaint that characters like him aren’t exactly treated with same level of bravado and respect that they used to get.
I think base Beerus has been surpassed since ToP arc.He may just have a Hakaishin form like Toppo and ultra instinct combined from the manga
Turles will remember that.

What happened to Raditz is a consequence of Toriyama's off the cuffs style of writing. By never planning far ahead he tends to indivertibly self-sabotage when it comes to characters and story concepts.
@DraculaCronqvistThe Sailor Moon manga is godawful by comparison.
I never expect Raditz to be coming back to Super, I just wish he was given more fan service in the games, like Xenoverse, FighterZ, Heroes, etc
Special Beam Cannon hit Raditz so hard it blew away his plot relevance.

Yeah Multiverse has some pretty interesting stories.
Honestly if you took out the fact that Raditz is Goku’s brother it really wouldn’t change anything which makes it pretty pointless. It’s just weird because I feel like in any other series the sibling of the protagonist especially one introduced as a villain would be a much more prominent character than what Raditz was.
Yeah in most cases they would be what Vegeta is now to the series. A character that had issues with the main cast, learned to work together with them (reluctantly) to the point they more or less started to adapt to those around him including their then major enemy and now they have a friendly rivalry.
Or like natsus older bro zeref in fairy tail
Well, being the brother of the protagonist does not have to make you relevant, in fact since Goku never saw Raditz as his brother or accepted being a saiyan it is normal that he does not want him back, Goku chose his adoptive family instead of his biological family which is one of the most important things in the saiyan saga, and Raditz serves very well to exemplify that.
@@condedooku9750I don’t really think so, Raditz was basically a intro boss for the real antagonist of the Saiyan Saga just guy to be defeated and show how strong Goku and friends need to get. Dammit you're right. Even I never included Raditz in the Ultra Army and that story was mad popular using characters from the tournament. I think Raditz is honestly the most underrated or underutilized out of everyone
What is ultra army?
Now that I think about it, drawing and animating a SSJ3 Raditz would be expensive and hard as hell
He would be SSJ eternal from the compact goku fan manga i think? a planet sized of hair
This is an odd thought but if they do add him to Figterz all it would take is one person using him to win a tournament for him to get a big popularity boost and the extended media team will focus a little more on him.
I mean, it happened with Yamcha and nappa
The perfect way to reintroduce raditz would be while also adding cooler. As long as cooler was a big enough threat that raditz would have to be on the good side, Gokus simple mind would totally go "wait friezas brother? WAIT I HAVE ONE OF THOSE". Hopefully he's been training in hell and maybe because he still has a tail they could introduce ssj4. Just food for thought

Just come up with an excuse to revive Raditz from hell, have him show off the new form he acquired while there, and presto. You have a grand enough way to make him relevant again.

A Raditz + Tarble team up spin off could be fun
I still believe Raditz fight against Goku and Piccolo is super underrated.
One of the best fights in the series. From that point, they rarely showcased battles where team actually mattered. It always ended up with one dude being the main reason they beat a main bad guy.
Nappa- Goku destroys him alone
Vegeta- they actually did need to truly team up for this one
Freeza - characters were really just stalling until Goku showed up and eventually wins with very minimal help until ssj
Cell - Gohan with very little help
I honestly say he should come back. Not as a punching bag. But a slow redemption. He's honestly so weak that mostly anyone can take him and he doesn't have a ship so he's stuck on earth. So this might be a way to show him humility and make him understand that he can't get his way.
Raditz will forever be my favorite character in the entire franchise no matter what.
Looool
Everyone who has the power to bring Raditz back but doesn’t is missing out in a gold mine, there I said it!

Raditz is my favorite dragon ball z character so I love watching the videos you make

I remember reading a Fanfiction a very long time ago where Goku pleads with King Yemma to bring Raditz up from HFIL, explaining to him the story as to what's going to happen on Earth and why he "Needs all the help the Z-fighters can get."
King Yemma grants it on the sole basis on Raditz getting training to help fight off Vegeta and Nappa, and the story proceeds from there.

It's such a huge shame he would've been great in the group alongside tables and Launch but Akria likes forgetting things a lot.

What we need is a game on R&R, that also features other stories about Raditz.

My man Raditz has been needing some form of spotlight. For example I would love to Double Sunday someone in FighterZ. Or maybe a small side story because it crazy to me that Goku would just forget his own brother, especially since Raditz at least showed that he cared for Goku at some degree.
What the character always will have going for him; *He is Goku's brother.* I refuse to believe absolutely nothing can be done with that.

Lol the entirety of pucci is a callback to dio

Only because Pucci believes he's finishing what Dio started. You could take Dio entirely out of the equation and Pucci would still work as a character.
If Vegeta never knew Bardock, how would he know he was a brilliant scientist?
Bigger question is does Toriyama even remember Radditz
Raditz is literally my favorite character.
Masako: So today we will talk about Raditz.
Cumber: I'm going to ruin this man's career.
It's funny because it's true.
@@MasakoX Yeah, I remember back when we all thought he was Raditz XD
You could put Nappa into the same boat, they're pretty much the same as far as this goes. Both have a lot of demand for their returns.
I love raditz
He introduced dragonball to the universe
He's the main characters brother
He's a whole level of power above the entirety of dragonball
He's incredibly important
Yo that super Dragon ball heroes idea with raditz was straight up beautiful
I wanna see Raditz go SS3
So what you're saying is that we might see What if Cumber Was Raditz Instead?
that sounds interesting.
I really wish they brought back Raditz instead of Frieza.
