I think you highly underestimate how much of a cross over there is between heavier styles of electronic music and metal. Theres some ridiculously heavy dance music out there and the more “commerical” dubstep artists often have mosh pits now. they’re basically the same scene at this point +/- the drugs

They not only make amazing shows, but their lyrics are amazing too: "Oblivions peak" really helps me externalize how much I fucking hate homophobia, and their entire "A tier in the fabric of life" EP crushes my soul every time I listen to it.

Very deep into both scenes. Go to a ton of EDM and Metal shows and just from personal experience the EDM crowds are so much better. PLUR is definitely still a thing. Metal crowds are just way too serious. But I love to see the crossover. Metal is making its way into EDM in a big way right now.
Even people that HATE metal would love this shit live. Its just the energy the band provides. Ive seen them live and brought friends who werent really into it, they left saying it was their favorite show ever.

There literally at one of the biggest festivals more known for his bigger radio type of artist & there having that crowd move like it’s goddamn house show. Pits everywhere & not a lot of phones in sight & enjoying the moment. Really hope this is the beginning of getting harder sounding music back to the mainstream.
This has to be my most enjoyable bonnaroo set. My group went and it was amazing! The mosh pit was insane and nobody really got hurt from what i know. Just a few busted lips which looked bad ass lol. Will definitely see them again.
Yeah, it's kind of weird to see all of this happen. Like, it's great for them. All these bands like Knocked Loose, Jesus Piece, Turnstile. It's awesome that they have been able to expand beyond hardcore/metalcore shows. But at the same time, I think about why I started playing in hardcore and metalcore bands as a teenager...and this is SO far from that. It just makes me wonder if they ever miss what it used to be for them. I never had the desire to expand beyond hardcore. I didn't want to ever make music my job or anything. They clearly do, so they probably feel differently than I do. But I just don't know if I'd feel the same looking out and seeing this huge gap and barrier, in the middle of the day, and seeing a Bonnaroo type crowd push pitting to my music. Just because it's so far from what made me interested in all of this to begin with. I hope they love it, though. And I hope it continues for all the bands who DO love it for as long as it possibly can.

I love metal and EDM but mannn metal is just a different level of energy. My friends who solely listen to EDM try to send me “heavy” EDM tracks and they dont even come close to a Deathcore or hardcore breakdown.
The only thing in the Electronic music realm that kinda comes close is the slower sludgier Phonk stuff. The only thing that gives me stank face like Deathcore is old school Memphis rap. It's a pretty close 2nd. Still 2nd though lol

I love metal and EDM but mannn metal is just a different level of energy. My friends who solely listen to EDM try to send me “heavy” EDM tracks and they dont even come close to a Deathcore or hardcore breakdown.
The only thing in the Electronic music realm that kinda comes close is the slower sludgier Phonk stuff. The only thing that gives me stank face like Deathcore is old school Memphis rap. It's a pretty close 2nd. Still 2nd though lol
Deathcore and Hardcore are not Metal genres though. Actual Metal will always be heavier than EDM and Hardcore.
