  • @samuelchapman8871
    @samuelchapman8871 11 місяців тому +191

    Thank you, Sunny. I appreciate your dedication to giving us this experience.
    Long, personal, emotional hardcore kid post below about why this means so much to an elder millennial:
    I grew up in western Kentucky in the hardcore/metal scene. I am a little older than knocked loose and have some buddies that actually played with them as I was exiting playing music in the scene (played consistently in two hardcore/metal bands as a guitarist from 2005-2010) I have loved watching them grow and been a fan ever since hearing pop culture.
    My dad is a talented musician. My whole family is. I’m the only one that loved hardcore and heavy music. If you grew up in a super strict household like mine- you know what it’s like to be judged by your music and even have your music taken away. I had to sneak music when I was young. Got in trouble for listening a lot. Even physically abused and emotionally abused for it. My dad screamed at me for listening to it in my face (ironic right? Don’t worry/ I’ve been to therapy for this and have processed these horrible things- even later became a licensed therapist and am doing that now with a lot of purpose and fulfillment :) )
    I eventually rebelled and was able to tell my dad off and created music that I wanted to create regardless. Played some amazing shows in the tristate area. Eventually my dad reluctantly even listened to my band at two shows. He didn’t tell me he was proud, but at least he came and didn’t abuse me (I got big enough he was too scared to lay hands on me anymore)
    My big brother is an amazing drummer. He never liked my music either even though he tried. A lot of criticism about my taste. I always wanted to play in a band with him. Never happened.
    My mom also loathed my music. Criticized it as well. Always told me I’d never have a family or make a career out of it (even though I did well enough at 17 to get offered record deals from small labels, it wasn’t enough for her to encourage me)
    The point is- seeing Bryan’s love for his brothers, seeing the support from his mom side stage, seeing the love and pride in their eyes, to see young humans grow into mature adults with love, humility, and support and how they give that support and encouragement and love to their community….it heals me even more simply watching from afar.
    Thank you Knocked Loose. ♥️♥️♥️

      @@skippym5932 that’s one way of looking at it. I’m glad you read the whole thing ;)

    • @dreammachine86
      @dreammachine86 Місяць тому

      @@samuelchapman8871 Well I for one enjoyed reading your little autobiography. Can't imagine what it's like to get physical abuse just for listening to a certain type of music, *especially* if that is abuse from family. If you've had loving family members - even just one or two - it's impossible to imagine being in a situation like that.
      As an adult (not a very responsible one...but technically an adult all the same), I've always thought, if someone was physically abusive to me I'd just fight them back. Whatever it takes. If I'd had a violent, abusive father in my life I'd give back as good as I got. If I wasn't strong enough...well then, I'd do something like putting LSD in his coffee so he thinks he's going insane. It's easy to think what ifs like that when you haven't been in that situation, feeling powerless against someone much stronger, and fearing the reaction you'll get if you 'do the wrong thing' in his mind. Plus, what must make the whole situation even harder is that the abusive person isn't some pure evil movie villain, they are family and may have their own issues, and as such on some level you would actually love them.
      So it's uplifting to hear how your situation has worked out and that you got to a much better place. Really just shows the power of music - whatever the genre.

    im from louisville, i've loved knocked loose for years, been to as many shows as i can and i will continue to love them and go to as many shows as i can.
    but the one complaint i always have is Bryan doesnt sing half the lyrics. And i know the vocal style is incredibly difficult and i have no idea what it takes to be able to do it for long periods of time while also moving as much as he does. But it literally starts from the first song. cmon man, hit the treadmill, get your wind up, i've seen many incredible metal bands do it for longer and the lyrics are so powerful and it pains me to not have them. for example the segment of forced to stay at 38:30 - 39:00 the lyrics are so fucking powerful and he was able to get (almost) all of the lyrics for the first two lines then completely abandoning the last two lines.
    idk if im nit picking but this is something i've noticed for a long time and i would love to hear anybody elses thoughts on this

      i saw them in melbourne australia a while back, and thought he must of been sick... tbh i do these style vocals and its not that taxing to do them whilst moving. i used to play 3-7 shows on tours at times and i had no dramas singing all the lyrics to all my songs in this vocal style... i think he just really tries to get the crowed to fill in for him

    I’ve been going to shows for almost 25 years now. @5:20 was probably the most insane thing I’ve witnessed. That split went down what seemed like almost the length of a football field. Then the chaos that ensued when it filled back in. The camera work on the rest of this show is top notch like all other hate5six’s stuff, but unfortunately didn’t do this part justice. I’m still hoping someone somewhere has a good ultra wide shot of it.
