Dawn, your long hair is so becoming on you. Love the color also. I am 66 so I have a lot of gray and not ready to become a "grey sister". I have been doing my own for 15 years now. I have to do my roots every 4 weeks. I have never run my base color through my entire hair because I throw a few highlights in every other time I root touch, so it always blends. It's so satisfying knowing you can do your own hair and the money you save. My husband had the most beautiful Auburn hair when I first met him 48 years ago. Two of my daughters and 2 granddaughters also. Yes, it is part of a person's identity. You did a great job with your hair, and you probably gave someone courage to do their own.
Hi Kathy! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. My paternal grandma & my dad had auburn hair. Only one (Seth) of my 4 has red hair. It does feel great to be able to take control of our hair. Hi Dawn! I originally found you by searching for coloring strawberry blonde hair. I’m so happy I did because your channel offers so much more! Your hair is beautiful! It was hard being a redhead when I was young too, and my skin would get purple and blotchy when I was cold. I got teased relentlessly in elementary school (“I’d rather be dead than have on my head!) But, like you, red hair is such a part of my identity! I’ve been using the Madison Reed color gloss in Zucca to disguise my greys. I love the color of your son’s hair too! Thank you Dawn, just keeping colouring, you would miss it so much. My strawberry blonde hair started to go blond when I was about 70 but it took about 10 years to go completely blonde I am still blond at 87 but I miss my red hair so much, but I don’t think I would dye it at this age. I still don’t see any grey. Hugs Bea
Hi Bea! I once read that natural redheads usually just get blonder and blonder until their hair turns white. You are so blessed to not have ever turned completely gray. I understand what you said about missing your red hair. It’s a part of our identity. It’s hard to let it go. Have a wonderful day Bea!! Hugs 🤗
Thank you, Julie!! I see so many women on UA-cam and Instagram rocking their gray hair, but then I see women in real life who don’t really style it and it doesn’t look so great. I’m conflicted.

This formula is so perfect and looks natural. Thanks for sharing and your step by step instructions. You are the best!
Beautiful hair color Dawn and great tutorial. Would love to see what you use for root touch ups. Loved the pic of your coppery red hair - yes, I had that same color when I was young as well. Great video, I have seen Molly's videos too and love them. You have definitely found the shade that works great for you. My hair is the colour of your son's hair so I have been looking at videos of how to do small changes to the shade because like you found out in your teens sometimes big changes are a bit harsh on redheads.
Hi there!!! Thank you so much for watching & taking the time to comment. I totally agree about the big changes. Have you seen Molly’s hair lately? She went darker and it really suits her!!! I think her skin tone is a bit darker than mine so she can pull it off. Have a wonderful day!!🥰🍁🍂💛

Thinking of letting my hair grow out as i think it would be strawberry now but it has faded a lot. Although I still enjoy being blonde! Have a great week x
Hi Monica! I think red hair gets blonder & blonder until it turns kind of white, so I think blonde is a great way to blend those whites as they come in. That’s my plan. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. I hope you are having a great day!!!☀️🌷

Every 2 months, boy I wish that was me, I have to get my roots done every 4 weeks, I have lots of greys especially on my temples and in my part which is way more noticeable. Even though I get them done every 4 week’s after about 3 weeks I’m pulling out my spray can for touchups. I wash my hair every 4th day. I tried doing it myself but I can’t get the back of my head, sad cause salon prices are getting so expensive just like nail salons. Hi Dawn, so glad i found your UA-cam channel several years ago! I use your formula and love it! Just want to get your opinion about using a 20 developer on the roots and a 10 developer on my lengths next time so as to lessen any drying out or damage. (my hair is 61 years old) Will using a 10 over the already colored lengths come out the same as the roots and last as long or should i just stick with 20 all over every time? Will it blend well? I only need to color every 2 to 3 mo. as i am only !0%/20% fading and mainly in my part area. Thanks for any advice you can give me. And i would be very interested in seeing you do a root touch up as well. THANKS! Elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth! I’m not a hairdresser but I found an informative article that can help you decide if you’d like to use a vol 10 developer on the length of your hair. hairstylecamp.com/10-volume-developer-vs-20-volume-developer/ I understand what you are saying though, I like to use coconut oil on the ends of my hair to minimize damage and to prevent the fragile ends of my hair from absorbing too much color. I hope this helps!!!🌸
Hi Kim! Aww 🥰 Thank you!! I do have to brush it when I wake up. When my hair was really short I would wake up with the craziest hair!! It was kind of fun to see how wild it would get.😂
I stopped coloring my hair (Oct 2021) almost two years ago. To me it was worth it. I went cold turkey and I have always been dark brown. I have alot of gray in parts, in the back not as much but still streaked with white. Looking back I realize how much I was focused on maintaining the roots, how destructive hair color was on my scalp and actually how the gray helps me be more confident and myself. There is a demarcation line still but it's way more natural and I have had more compliments since going gray and natural. I think it's a matter of confidence for most women. The in between stages can appear to some as women don't care about themselves but it's quite the opposite. I use to have hair loss alot when I dyed my hair. Madison Reed really caused alot of loss. I was amazed at about 4 months after stopping the color how thick my hair grew back in. I've heard this from alot of women doing the same.
I had the same problem with Madison Reed. I stopped using it years ago after I had significant hair loss after using it as my hair color. It took awhile before I made the connection but I did some research at the time. MR says it is more natural but it use(d) an ingredient called ethanolamine, instead of ammonia, which has been shown to cause more damage than the ammonia and specifically has hair loss attributed to it. I wasn't ready to go gray so I started using henna to color my hair. It is a whole other process and very time consuming but my hair started to grow back in after I stopped the Madison Reed. My friends have gone gray, but I'm just not ready yet.
@@curlgirl4265 That’s so interesting!! I like the look of Matera Marigold, but it’s 4 times the price of just mixing my own color. That’s why I stopped using it. I’m intrigued by henna!
It's so great to be free from coloring your hair huh 🥳 For many years ,probably since I was 13 yrs old ...I have colored my hair either auburn,or a medium shade of brown and even bleached it superblonde. I haven't colored it in maybe a year and I've noticed it's thicker, darker and smoother. I have a few greys "white" that are scattered but no thick pieces unfortunately.I love natural grey hair on women &men, esp when it's taken care of properly.
@@curlgirl4265 Yes, I had read that after I was seeking answers. They also have had multiple class action lawsuits in progress as well. I used them for 2 years in the past and didn't connect the hair loss with it. Just thought it was age. But going without dye within 4-6 months my temples grew in very thick and since then haven't had abnormal loss. My husband was amazed at my hair being so much more healthy after the fact.
When I see women with gray hair on Instagram or UA-cam it’s really inspiring, but when I see women with gray hair in real life it’s less inspiring. I think it’s because everyone has it fresh and styled on social media. Thank you for watching!!💖🥰

I’m not a hairdresser but I found an informative article that can help you decide if you’d like to use a vol 10 developer on the length of your hair. hairstylecamp.com/10-volume-developer-vs-20-volume-developer/
I understand what you are saying though, I like to use coconut oil on the ends of my hair to minimize damage and to prevent the fragile ends of my hair from absorbing too much color. I hope this helps!!!🌸
Hi, Dawn! Your hair is beautiful and I can't believe you go to bed with it damp and wake up with it so gorgeous!!❤
Hi Kim!
Aww 🥰 Thank you!! I do have to brush it when I wake up. When my hair was really short I would wake up with the craziest hair!! It was kind of fun to see how wild it would get.😂
Beautiful Dawn
Thank you so much, Joyce!!!💖💛
Thank you so much, Joyce!!!💖💛

Thank you! What a lovely thing to say!!!❄️🎄❤️
Mine came out more red
That’s awesome!! I’m not ready yet…
Hi Dawn I don't color any more almost 2 years iam gray and brown lol😊
And you’re beautiful 🤩
@@DawnsLifeover40 awwwww thank you
I am 100% white color
I’m not keen on grey hair tbh, that’s just me. Everyone is different ❤
When I see women with gray hair on Instagram or UA-cam it’s really inspiring, but when I see women with gray hair in real life it’s less inspiring. I think it’s because everyone has it fresh and styled on social media. Thank you for watching!!💖🥰
Gif forgive me if this comment is inappropriate, I don’t mean for it to be, but….just wait til you start seeing gray pubic hair! 😮😢😂
Lol!!! I’ll bet!!!!😳😳😳😂😂😂
I don’t see your hair strawberry blonde is more blonde ….
