Because if you put the tank under the body, you save a lot of space internally, and above all you can fit a much larger tank. Instead of hunting for water once a day, you fill up once a week or longer. And with pumps and electricity you can also run the water through a heat exchanger and boom, now you have hot water for dishes or showering. I'm pretty sure constantly having to go look for water gets very, very old after a while.
Jo Bettles: In this case we are talking about a small plastic water carrier, which obviously you would not leave on a shelf when travelling. I am no expert, but it is hard to believe this would have any effect on anything.
There may be no shower, but if you do the wim Hof method, showering outside in the winter would be no problem at all. For everyone else, there are gyms. Not having a shower would be another incentive to exercise regularly. Great work, mate!
Great build. Love the openess of it. I have the cdi 313 2001. Its been pretty good. Probably injectors are the big issue with these. No creep home function ☺ which is fantastic. I have a shower area which im not sure i could live without being in Australia.
How do you keep the wood burning vent on the roof from coming off when you drive? Also, do you have issues with air coming down the chimney when you drive?
Nate Murphy are you sure this this the last chain driven sprinter? I believe after 1999 they still have timing chains as far as I can see. After 2006 they added the DPF.
i guess it might make sense for him because he's quite big and needs a massive bed which is more complicated... but yes to little me it seemed a bit ridiculous. My preference would be to have something smaller and light weight that lifts into the ceiling out of the way
Not the best Sprinter conversion I’ve seen, I feel like he regrets not just putting a permanent bed in because that’s still a faff. Also, no toilet or workspace is a game changer.
That's not remotely five seconds. It's five seconds to flatten it, then it's 45 minutes worth of making the bed until you can sleep. Ok, so 45 minutes is a crazy exaggeration, but it's still the usual mucking around with making the bed, stripping the bed, making the bed, stripping the bed... give me a nice Murphy bed you can flip up and out of the way in five actual seconds, fully made. And frankly the fact that you have to open the door and get out of the van to flatten the bed is really a turn-off. Have fun with that in a snowstorm or rainstorm. Eww. Other than that, it does look nice enough I guess, but pretty basic and primitive. I know some people like that, but I'm not in that camp. To each his own.
Far too heavy for a van conversion...The idea with van builds is make them as light as possible..You have to pay for fuel to pull all that around. Stressing the Van mechanics causing more fuel emissions and more visits for diesel than ever...Keep it efficient, keep it light weight 😉
Van weighs 2700kg with full tanks of gas, water and diesel. Try her out yourself and see how efficient she is: www.quirkycampers.co.uk/campervans/southwest/bristol/maya/
gravity water is such a good idea. why bother with pumps and electricity when you can just put the water up in the air?

Because it can drastically effect the safety and handling Of The van and would also nullify your insurance in the event of a clsim

@@jobettles1 wouldn't it be just as safe if you have it strapped down?
Nice build! The bed seems to work well and you have plenty of storage. I like how you've kept the design fairly straight forward too.

I love the layout and that bed is awesome.
Very functional, practical build my friend. You have a nice sprinter!
Love the minimal design!
This is about as nice as it gets for a low budget van.
this is THE BEST van set up i've seen on youtube in 3 years! congrats! love it!
Nice and simple, lots of space.
well done I also like the water system simple and easy , regards from New Zealand :)

Very nice. But for me I always want some essentials not included here. Oven, table, toilet, shower.
Absolutely
one can always get a portable chemical tiolet.
Oui

Very nice van m8, I’ve got the iveco and I’m going to fit my woodburner in the same place as yours.
Thanks for sharing! It looks so great. That would be exactly what I would want.
love your smart motorhome,,,,

Beautiful layout.
Hey great bed system,
I’m having trouble finding those hinges, any links?
Love the wood-stove
It's a Windy Smithy made in Devon www.windysmithy.co.uk/
Very impressive...nicely done..
just perfect
I love the wood. Nice van :D
Hey How did you fix the cornice? It's really nice and I would prefer to do it the same way!
Great van👍
Nice layout.
beautiful
i just imagined the truck at 1:52 bumming in to the van during the tour. man i really shouldn't have laughed at that
Very nice full of caracter.
I like that bed but I'd want a better mattress.
Hey Nate! Super cool van...
when you fire up that wood burner it get so hot in there you have to open all your doors to cool off,,hahaha,,,
If it fits Marc Gasol, it must be some brilliant design.
Did you use a twin wall pipe going in the roof ?
Where would I look to get that kind of van for a couple thousand ?
A very old one in the UK..

Hi Where did you get the fridge? and how much was it and how much did the solar panel system cost and where did you get it from? Thanks.
Where did you get the spout for the water cannister please?
Remember your transit van Nate shame it went south as fast as it did.
What is the name of the manufacture of the cookstove? Also your Full list ain't working. thanks, c
Where did you get the water tank from
Where did you get the water container and the little pump? I like that!
It's just a normal water jug with a little faucet on them. They're a dime a dozen.
@@lorcro2000 I really meant the little squirt thing. That hangs from the water jug. It seems to spray at the bottom of it.
CDI engine is not a good thing?
To me thats the most complicated bed system I have seen on these van tour vids

great bed design, I would hate to have to live in a van where most of the space is always taken up by the bed
What kind of stove/oven is that?
How do u use the bathroom iv seen bathrooms in all the 1s iv seen
On your van build what was that tool called that you used on the kitchen top to get all the marks out?
James Harvey it was a cabinet scraper
@@NateMurphy please, where did you get the water pump "thingy?" The little thing that releases the water.
Vous avez les douches c'est pas trop dans les camions
You can see Bella in the background at the end.
What you lack of is a toilet / bathroom.... otherwise its a good camper !
Not the best Sprinter conversion I’ve seen, I feel like he regrets not just putting a permanent bed in because that’s still a faff. Also, no toilet or workspace is a game changer.
So you're the person that's interviewing him
No bathroom?
That’s terrible the bed/couch takes up all the spaces
To go off and travel and be free...
