That's pretty much just MGS.
There's a rerelease coming on the Switch.
The only reason I want these games remade, is not because they're not fun. They are still fun and I've gone through them twice. But its lacking emotion. The big reveal is cool, but the drama isn't there. Imagine how heart stopping it would be see former mentor and former commander fight after you've put your trust in him.
"You were too good Solid Snake you accomplished too much. If I am going to die here then you're coming with me!"
This must have been one hell of a Shootout between the rookie Solid Snake and a steaming mad Big Boss. I can probably imagine there was CQC being used between the both of them in this Fateful Battle.

Oh, so because we are recognizing history, we shouldn't remake games with old school flaws? Nobody complained when OOT was remade for the 3DS, in fact, they outright begged for it.
So explain why remakes of games that are outdated is a bad thing? I love oldschool gaming; but the original MSX games not only have poor AI and flawed collision problems, they also have anti piracy measures (needing the instructions) which can't be solved in the ports due to the lack of instructions. Oops.
Because most of them aren't remakes. They're just the same game upscaled, which is something that's significantly used with emulators to make old games look good. OOT 3D was legit the same old OOT, just with upgraded textures, like KH 2.5 or 1.5. Very few games even add new textures, though. So it's very much the same game with most remasters, all most people do is upscale it, and maybe fix a few bugs/update a few textures and bam it's ready to be sold for $40 .
+Spideyfan300 Fair enough points I suppose, but it was still a remake with new features. I mean, it included Master Quest alongside it and also included a new Boss Rush and key moments recorder allowing you to see which side quests and accomplishments you'd finished and which you still needed to finish.
My main complaint is there are old school games people can't touch due to things like anti-piracy or just it not being well known, that kinda deserve it. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 are two games I'd love to see remade.
@@spideyfan300 as far as Ocarina of Time, the 3DS had some of the same bugs as the original, and, if i recall, left in some of the sprites, scenes and such that didnt make it into the final game that devs must have just left there
One of the best chiptunes imo.
If they're ever remade it should be from Big Boss's perspective this time, and for the final battle you have to fight Solid Snake.
Of course, you lose in the end because Solid lights your ass on fire.
The final cutscenes show Big Boss being put into his nanomachine induced preservative coma(with an orchestral version of Metal Gear Saga playing), and ends with the famous Game Over screen(with an orchestral version of the Game Over theme as well)
And thus the MGS series reaches full circle.

This is the first metal gear, you don't fight the real big boss, you fight against venom snake from the phantom pain

Can someone explain the Metal Gear storyline to Me? Like what's Fox Hound? Outer Heaven? Why did Big Boss need to clone himself? Who's the bad guy here
Eligio Cortes oh boy, you don't know what you are getting into. Trying to explain Metal Gear in one go is like trying to explain Inception
I'll try to explain it, but I probably won't do all of the facts justice (prepare for a wall of text):
FOXHOUND is the name of a special forces unit established by Big Boss, specializing in covert, solo infiltration missions.
Outer Heaven is the dream of Big Boss, and his main goal throughout the series: after killing his mentor, The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3, and seeing what the goverment did to her, he wanted to create a safe space for soldiers where that sort of abuse would never happen again. Basically a whole military nation where soldiers are free to be soldiers, and aren't tied to any state or goverment.
Big Boss never cloned himself. In fact - he was always against the idea, and the fact that Zero (his first commander) cloned without him agreeing to it made him leave his old unit (FOX unit). 3 clones were made: Solid (who was sent by Big Boss into Outer Heaven to report false information and be killed, but instead destroyed and defeated Big Boss in Metal Gear 1 and 2), Liquid (who grew to hate Big Boss after learning that he was not only a clone, but a clone with all the bad genes given to him, so Solid would get all the good ones. Which turned out to be the opposite, but he died before he could learn it) and Solidus (who was made much later, and never interacted with Big Boss. His story would come into play much later, and is too conveluted to explain here).
The biggest sources of all problems are Skull Face - the antagonist of Metal Gear Solid 5, and Zero - Big Boss' old commander. Skullface was a commander of a backup unit for FOX called XOF. After Big Boss departed from his first unit, Zero, after creating a secret agency called Cipher, wanted to bring him back. He tried it multiple times, but failed. Right after that XOF under Skullface's command innitiated an attack on Big Boss' new base. Big Boss was put into a coma for 9 years, and after waking up blamed Cypher and Zero for this. Before Zero could explain to Big Boss what happened - Skull Face has had already poisoned him, which would put him into a vegetative state before Big Boss wakes up. Him being poisoned also lead to the creation of a super AI network called "The Patriots", that would act in-place of Zero as the information controllers, and are also responsible for most of the problems in later games.

Y'know one thing I noticed about the final battles in seemingly all Metal Gear games? They're all about your survival, you win, you get away, you lose, you both die or one gets away.

My apologies, I actually did misquote that; his dislike was actually aimed towards the NES ports (Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge) which he himself had nothing to do with; so I will admit I was wrong and apologize.
But I still don't see what is so bad about wanting an updated 3D re-release. It's not about destroying the foundation of the original game, it's about realizing that clinging to the past is not a good thing to do. Embrace the past, and open your arms to the future.

..."clinging to the past"? This is RECOGNIZING HISTORY. Holy shit: have the Metal Gear Solid games completely numbed you to the idea that a retcon is actually altering the past? Did you not pay attention to the message in Metal Gear Solid 2 about history/data being altered frighteningly easily?
No, it would not. Gamers need to get over the fact that the first two games that STARTED THE METAL GEAR SERIES are 2D.

i obviously accept those games as the start of the series itself, especially considering its a hell of a lot more fleshed out in metal gear 2
i never grew up with the old MSX games, or even NES for that matter, the oldest console i have is a PS2 from who the hell knows ago, but i LOVE those games, and i love metal gear solid V for that matter
i love everything to do with this series and have pretty much every game

I think AceTheSlayer75 means that it is about both combatants attempting to survive something about to kill them both. For example, the bomb in Metal Gear, the bombers approaching in Metal Gear Solid, and the nuke about to hit in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Though, those are the only three I can recall. There was no such device in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Portable Ops, or Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, so not all MG games have it.
Whatever Mr. Kojima decides. My guess is that, if they're ever remade, it'll be a fan remake.

I personally don't get why people hate twin snakes. Just because the original wasn't made with those ideas in mind, doesn't mean it's a bad remake. The original MGS was an ambitious title, and I like it a lot, but I prefer Twin Snakes because everything is improved, just because there are places to hide, and you can shoot in first person doesn't mean it broke the game. It made it play like 2 and 3, which is good.
That's just my opinion.

You are aware that Hideo Kojima himself has stated that he is embarrassed over the first two games, and kinda regrets not having Metal Gear Solid being a remake as apposed to a sequel right? It has nothing to do with Metal Gear being 2D, it's more to the face that despite being ambitious games; they were highly flawed in many aspects (Metal Gear 2 not so much, it seems they got the hang of the formula for that one).

As much as i'll allow your arguments i want to say one thing. OoT3D was a bad remake. It was almost a port. Just new skins. Resident Evil GCN, now thats a remake. MGSTS, that was a bad remake cause although it looked cooler and added more, it broke the game as it wasnt designed with such aspects in mind.
Anyway....theres my opinion.
