Applause for human accomplishment in a Christian church is grossly inappropriate. However, this being in a Protestant church, it truly is all about glorifying mammon than of Christ, sadly.
@Joeli Mischke Really? I was in this choir a million years ago as a student at St Olaf College. This was a concert performance, NOT a worship service, therefore it was permissible for the audience to respond giving their appreciation in applause. Clearly your prejudice related to the form of Christianity called Protestant is showing! heal thyself friend!
Although I do not like applause in a church service, for me personally, but often people applaud to say “thank you” to the folks who gave such a beautiful respite from the world. They mean no dishonor. This was such a lovely offering of encouragement and praise. Thank you for posting.
