Hey Matt I also hold musicians and bands that follow their own star in high regard.Unless you’re playing for any reason other than the love of playing and preforming and have some interesting point of view to share, then you lose me, personally. In 1971 I finally had the opportunity to go to my first Grateful Dead show. The people in the Dead’s extended family and the band itself were on a mission to turn the world on and successfully completed that ambition. I know cause I got to help with the effort. At this show in Providence RI ,I found Jerry sitting on the edge of the stage with his feet hanging over the edge. H e had an unplugged guitar and was warming his fingers up.So the stage was at a level that standing there Jerry and I were at eye level. I just asked if I could sit behind the amps and he said sure and had Ramrod, their roadie move some equipment cases and I squeezed on through. The first person I come across when I go around the stack of amps is Owlsly Stanley aka Bear, The LSD king! At that moment he is busy dropping liquid from a murine bottle onto the back of peoples hands and they licked it off. I stuck my hand out and he smiled and said “oh,you want some also as he put 3 drops on the back of my hand and I licked it off. I sat behind Pigeon for the entire show. At the end of the first set with everyone milling about behind the amps Jerry came over and handed me a big fat joint and I passed it back and he smiled and said pass it around. At the end of the show after the last song they all came through the opening between the amps and I found myself in a circle with all of them. The energy from the people calling for an encore, felt like waves in the ocean, smacking you. Then back out to play the final song. I had some seriously trippy interaction with Phil Lesh and got hooked up with Bear’s acid dealer in Providence. I sold Bear’s goods for years, all the profits were going to build Bear’s sound reinforcement masterpiece,The Wall Of Sound. The other all original I learned a lot of the truth from,is Bob Dylan, who else. The Dead are the forerunners of using cutting edge guitar and a amplifier technology live.. Anyone going for it with whatever musical form has my deepest respects . I asked Bob Weir once, why none of them blinked an eye, with me being there and he said they all knew I was home! Takes an outlaw to know an outlaw, rock on sisters and brothers ⚡️🖖🏽⚡️

Someone else already said it, but these should be on a podcast so it would be easier to listen in the car or while doing some work around the house. I really just appreciate getting to hear your journey through life up to now.

I love old southern jokes. Great opening bit there! Sometime I’ll have to tell you the one that makes a lot of my friends fall out of their chair.
