I cry every time I see this scene. To look up and see your loving deceased parent’s eyes watching with love. Remembering all the time Dad spent working with you, helping you, supporting your dream. I break down every single time.
If the manager stepped off the mound before coming back for the pat Billy would have been removed from the game by rule. Could have been a very bad idea to ask for the pat.
Bunting during the 7th in the middle of perfecto is a pretty bad violation of “The Unwritten Rules.” Tuttle probably gettin good chin music again if not drilled in the back for his first at bat in the next game.
@@cheliwilliams8378 it's on youtube as well :) just type "for love of the game-lemonade." The name, its because, if you remember the fight he had with jane he used the line of "when life give you lemons..you make lemonade."..and yeah to me its so cool he got his parents involved
I grew up in Detroit, and dreamed of playing for the Tigers. And getting the girl. And being rich... I can still remember most of the players form the 68 Series. This movie was my dream! Love it...

This is one of the best baseball movies ever.
The Natural and The Rookie are also at the top of my list.
1:37 "where's my pat?" such a great line

3:36.. i love it, because billy's mom and dad are played by kevin costner's real life parents
Wow this is one of my favorite all time movies i never knew that but what I'd really like to know is the name of this score playing during this scene

I sure miss the 84 tigers and how great baseball once was. Least I can watch some old games through UA-cam and relive the memories.
you missed Brooklyn
'84. Great year to be in Detroit.
Manager says "Seen it, covered it"
I don't know about Chapel, but the problem with Costner's arm is he doesn't use any legs in his pitching style. It's all in the mechanics. 😊
See Tom Seaver. Chapel couldn't pitch to 30 with that delivery.
It's...a...movie.

Arms been hurting for 10 years, WOW!
That pretty much sums up most veteran MLB pitchers.
My favorite scene. It's called lemonade on the soundtrack.
i love this movie, other than tin cup i love this movie.
I keep hearing veterans ask why do guys slide into first? It slows you down.
They used real MLB Umpires in this movie!
Holy crap, J.K. Simmons is in this film?
J.k. is also a big Tigers fan
Holy crap Dr. Steve Brule is in this?
@@trailersic Holy crap Jonathan Kent is in this film?
@@bradyrhodess Holy Crap, Kevin Costner's in this film?
Usually a pitcher is not allowed to talk to his manager like that.
He is a 20 year veteran.....
There's something wrong with arm, his elbow or his shoulder....wow, the sky is blue, isn't it?
"Something wrong with his arm, his elbow or his shoulder." Thanks for that, expert commentator.
And as if you're not supposed to hate the guy already, he takes the cowards way out and breaks one of the oldest unwritten rules in the game
Can't think of a better reason not to be a Yankee
Yeah, I hate Yankee fans too.
Yo momma
Yeah, I hate Yankees and Yankees fans.
Anyone for some afternoon tea and crumpets 🩸🏴⚖🏴🩸
"How long?"
"Ten years."
Gets me every time.
Nobody bunts past the 5th of a no hit ball game. It's just not done.
knowing that the pitcher is hurt why not try
@@stellertonybeller1972 Unspoken baseball etiquette. Players know the deal.
The movie made it pretty obvious that Sam Tuttle was an ass, who probably never gave baseball etiquette a second thought.
The whole point of Tuttles character is being a self absorbed parasite tho
@@tynolin8397 you're probably right.
What movie?
The movie's called For The Love of The Game.
I don't remember ted cruz being in this movie.
