    It's pretty cool that hot rodding is really starting to come full circle where various creative uses of stock parts are really a very viable way to go.

    Getting ready to start my build finally.. I haven't seen the mighty car mods decap videos but I can bet they give a slap stick, off the cuff ozzy slang filled description ( not bashing them just saying I have cash wrapped up in this!!!).. You explain things and are still hilarious (imho). I never used to comment because I was concerned about sounding stupid but you don't know me so I can sound like an idiot without daily shame! Thanks for the videos my friend!

    I really like your process and methodology, breaking down step by step and explaining as you go. It is good for people to see, hear and understand what happens in the world of injectors and you did it well. As mentioned in the video, the pencil pray pattern will run and perform. If delivering more fuel for your build is what you want, then this this is your ticket. However, just dumping more fuel without adding air is counter intuitive to making more power. Atomizing the fuel will always give you a cleaner and a more complete combustion, thus creating more horse power. In a N/A setup, a straight stream of fuel will burn and make power but, will run into more carbon fouling and less power than a atomized pattern. If you rough up the intake runner after the injection port before the valve, it would help atomize the fuel with a straight stream of fuel. With a power added (forced induction) the pressures and velocity can and does break up the straight stream more than N/A. But as I mentioned before, when the fuel molecules are smaller (atomized) vs straight stream (droplet) regardless of the engine, it becomes more efficient, cleaner, complete and creates more power.

    So I just did this and I found if you use a bench grinder and a 13 mm wrench and put the injector threw the box end of a wrench it's really easy to spin the injector and hold it at the angle you want to grind off the cap

    going down the path of trying to decap injectors however my injectors for aussie Barra 6 cyl turbo motors, just to give it a go my problem is that my injectors are just like those ones you have that are recessed. probably going to try a 6mm end mill from a lathe will post some pics if it works on sloppy page...good stuff on the video mate inspiring aussies to help the kids in Australia because they need burnout smoke to survive

    The factory injector you referenced as 70 pounds or so, (12613412 part number) is for a gen 4 6.0 as you stated you thought. My question is can I put them in place of my stock gen 3 4.8/5.3 injectors on my 4.8 or will I need different fuel rails? I don’t mind the re-wiring part.

    did the injectors get less consistent flows before and after the decapping? 4% doesn't sound too good. 2% less than 12.7AFR gives 12.95 which would start getting dangerous if you're pushing for peak power.

    • @gregg4164
      @gregg4164 5 років тому +1

      He did clearly state that for boosted engines the pencil pattern is more desirable since it directs the fuel stream into the intake valve which is where you want it. The unstable airflow from the turbo in the intake actually will cause problems with fuel delivery to the intake valves. That is mt understanding of what he said. Lack of fuel in a boosted engine is a big concern. Better to get it to the intake valve as efficiently as you can i would think.

      here is a johnny come lately comment: that is a 2010+ Flex Fuel injector. I bought 8 of those myself sep 2016 (for $60), needed $20 connector adapter and installed July 2017 in my 5.3 and adjusted the tune for 50 lbs. They have been running great since then. Now I am going to try my original 25 lbs and decap them as per this vid to see what they will do. Matt, you have great info in these videos. Thanks
