      Skadoodle Monster came first. And the original comment says one of the best. And that it hasn't been surpasses. inferring that since then nothing has been better. Monster couldn't fall under this category because it's happened before. Monster can be better than Death Note. But it can't surpass it. Because it came first.

    I have always loved stories about people pursuing a monster so wholeheartedly that you turn into the monster. I have always felt it was a reflection on the inner darkness every person innately holds within their hearts. People have different degrees of this darkness, but it is nonetheless present. Similar to the idea of yin and yang. We all have had a moment where the dark part of us came out. I would rather make peace with that darkness accept it, than let it eat away my very soul.

      @@hesally2343 Jordan Peterson is a psycho-analyst professor (or at least he was) and either a therapist or psychiatrist (O honestly don't know the difference) who teaches psychoanalysis as it pertains to history (mostly 20th century history as it relates to the pathologies within socialism, communism, fascism and over-sized centralized power structures in general), as well as psycho-analysis within mythology and religion (mostly Christianity). That barely scratches the surface, though. You really should look him up on UA-cam or Bitchute. I would highly, highly recommend his handful of appearances on the Joe Rogan Experience. You'll get a really good grasp of who he is and what he talks about there. You can also find his class lecture segments from a while back at the University of Toronto, and over the last couple years in the public limelight, he's done many large, public lectures on a variety of subjects relating to what I described. The man is brilliant and one of the best public fogures that actually deserves the admiration he gets for how he trues to help people understand themselves and the world around them.

      @@Tyler_W Peterson has great ideas and speeches on psychology and philosophy but when it comes to politics and his agenda against the leftists he quite often gets a yikes from me. Like that program idea he had to identify which educational classes had so called "post-modernism" or "gender politics" agenda is quite petty and extremely biased. It is quite a problem that the left basically thinks he's a nazi and the right wingers falsely interpret him and latch onto his words for a pseudo-intellectual defense to actual problems in society that Peterson just hand waves away.
      Don't get me wrong I agree with him that extremists on both sides are insane but honestly where he stands politically is also a bit extreme to me.

    Light's changes in elegance, beauty and dominance as the narrative progresses; he no longer represses his hubris and desires of world domination after L's death as he believes that the one being who could truly oppose him is dead. Light's reckless decision of almost giving up his paranoid perceptiveness highlight how he's become a demonic blood stained irredeemable creature who's no longer human; yet still not quite Shinigami. The red colour pallet which represented light's greed, lust and hubris now has become his main identity(persona), Light has truly become Kira; embodying all of Lucifer's pride and power, as well as his weaknesses: arrogance and malice; this could highlight how Light was the architect of his own destruction; however also casting the light on its inevitability; which i believe is unveiled during Light's death, the red colour Pallet surrounds his environment rather than his dying body; society itself corrupted Light, someone like him as bound to come and he won't be the last. Resorting to him become another victim of the death note; lacking real world importance and substance he will die forgotten around him evolve him into a legend; before truly disappearing back in to the shadows which he always lurked behind.

      You can do two things: 1) Try to live a quiet existence and go unnoticed so no one will hurt you 2) Make yourself incredibly strong and protect yourself from getting hurt
      I think it's impossible to become strong and go unnoticed. As soon as Light got the Death Note and did something noble, everyone was after him. He was able to hold his own for a while. Soichiro was weak because he was incapable of writing Mello's name down. Because of his weakness, he died. Mello and Near were ruthless animals that had nothing to lose (they were orphans) and went after Light's loved ones. Light could've killed his sister Sayu and taken away Mello's bargaining chip, but that would've required him turning into something else than human (a monster). Light was always more human than his rivals. Because of them, wars and crimes will increase

I've watched scenes after one of your videos or entire series over again with a new perspective or appreciation of it simply because I wanted a better understanding of things as a whole. @DrTimes99 6 років тому

      In so much as the Jedi Order was about ignoring the Dark Side and denying it within themselves. The Sith Order however, was about embracing your desires and conquering the Force.
      The Jedi saw the Dark Side as "the monster" and they were afraid to "grow teeth". They were, "admirable on some level, but ripe for being dominated or fooled or used as a means to someone else's end." Sidious, "a lying monster", uses the whole order as a means to setting himself up as Emperor of the Galaxy.
      The Sith were obsessed with gaining power for power's sake. It's the embodiment of the Banite System, a master to embody power and the apprentice to crave it.
      At then end of the Original Trilogy, Luke demonstrates that while he has darkness within him, his rage induced hacking off of Vader's hand, he tosses his lightsaber away, indicating that he will not be ruled by it and instead becomes a figure of conviction, balanced.

It's also fitting that Light died on the stairs considering he was always striving for the top but could never make it, while Lelouch on the other hand slid to the bottom with his death, but it was by his own choosing.

    I think that is not just about being superior, but feeling the power... You know, even when we are not fighting humans, when we are just fighting something unconscious, like a thing or a task, "defeating" it and feeling that you have the power to overcome this thing is also something awesome.

    So, after Kira's victory against L, what could Light have done to recognize and change his mentality so that his absolute power did not posses him? Was he doomed to his fate the moment that fight ended? Or how would an alternate universe Death Note play out where Light, after the final battle, was able to control himself, re-recognize and seize his original purpose for gaining absolute power, and focus the actions of the rest of his life on that end?

    • @Aleczandxr
      @Aleczandxr  6 років тому +35

      I don't think he was doomed the moment that fight ended. Maybe I'm a hopeless idealist but I truly believe that we can reel it in as a bi-product of many variables. One of those variables happens to be human connection and the help of others, however, and Light really didn't have that in Ryuk and didn't consider Misa to be any sort of support. And most importantly, he had no barometer or self-awareness to understand that he was slipping when he started to slip. But I think that individual difference, support systems and other things can indeed save people from the brink. Though admittedly that is a bit naive for this specific situation, considering I've never been in anything remotely close to Light's situation.

      While he could have relished in the victory, from that point onward if he had someone else by his side, an actual friend or companion that cared, they could've pointed out that he was starting to care more and more about winning and the feeling of control than what he originally wanted to do. If Light could have had better self awareness, or someone else to point this out to him, he probably could have reeled himself back in.
      This is disregarding of whether we agree with his methods or not - at his true end, he was truly lost to wanting to be in control and being so narrow minded about it that he couldn't think of even how to save himself from being hunted down. At least, that's my interpretation of it. I think he became so obsessed with winning that once Near entered the scene he was focused on how to eliminate him, on how to win. If he wasn't in this mindset the time after taking down L he probably could have focused on furthering his goal while keeping in mind that he needs to ensure he keeps a low profile. If Near entered and Light was willing to be more passive and avoid making things come to a head, if he was willing to evade him in exchange for not being able to eliminate Near, he probably could've continued on in relative safety.
      Overall I'm just agreeing with Aleczandxr, but just wanted to walk through my personal thought process.

    • @hotshot1265
      @hotshot1265 6 років тому +7

      To add on to that the heavier the head wears the crown that power consumed him so that he could be on top. I think that's why he took offence when the police where looking to arrest him, or any law enforcement. He had a god complex thought he was untouchable and thinking that way he had no balance within him self he perversely underestimated Near and it cost him. Instead of ruling through respect he ruled through fear which left him with more enemies than allies.

    • @thaearthquake
      @thaearthquake 6 років тому +9

      Bro.. after defeating L I just can't see turning out any other way. Light's pride was present since the beginning as can be seen with the Lind L. Tailor fiasco. After defeating the ONE person in the world whose intellect he respected and acknowledged as an equal, there's NO WAY he'd come back down. That sort of "power high" really made him feel like a god.

    Maybe this is why I don't like sports, and hate mob mentality, and similar stuff... I enjoyed Death Note for the well thought out mind games, rather than dominance. Because it's something my mom told me as a child, that being humble gets you anywhere and everywhere.
    Also the embracing the monsters thing. I've not, lets say, experienced myself. But the idea of it seems quite terrifying.

      But what about the fact that by the end of Kira's 6 years reign the world's violent crime rates have been reduced by over 70% ? Whether you disagree with his methods or not you can't really argue with the fact that he was making the world objectively a more peaceful place.

    • @Aleczandxr
      @Aleczandxr  6 років тому +26

    • @bobbyzamora6389
      @bobbyzamora6389 6 років тому +7

      No, since the Death Note literally enabled him to do all of this. I think you're more asking about whether he was corrupted or had it within him from the beginning?

    • @hariman7727
      @hariman7727 6 років тому +5

      Perhaps, though possibly not as extreme. Light might have become a prosecutor, if possibly an overzealous one, or a judge, with a tendency towards being a "hanging judge", or he might have gone into politics, and used very underhanded means to clear out other corruption, while still being corrupt himself in doing so.
      Or he might have just languished lazily, gotten some high paying job, and lived a quiet life of boring work, with little excite ment, or become a scientist who researched something important, like cures/treatments for cancer, or an engineer.
      We'll never know, because the anime is wholly about how power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, as well as the dominance struggle between Light and L, and how many people get trampled along the way.

    • @Aleczandxr
      @Aleczandxr  6 років тому +20

    • @hariman7727
      @hariman7727 6 років тому +1

      That's the crux of the issue. How would the bored and listless genius Light have handled his lack of power, and what power he would have gone for, and what that power would have done to him.
      I honestly think that if Light ever got into a position of power, like Judge/Prosecutor, he WOULD abuse his power as much as he could, and hammer people down as hard as he could, within the bounds of the law. This might even extend to extra legal means, if he thought he could get away with it.
      Dexter, watch your back, because you might have a copycat serial killer, if Light joins the Police Department and becomes a detective.
