    Just a few weeks ago, I was at a Guitar Center and saw THREE Gibson/Epiphone guitars in for broken headstocks. I remarked to the tech that somebody should market a readymade kit for luthiers to convert a decapitated Gibson into a dedicated headless guitar.

      Why..??!
      Just get a modern one (anything from 90's onward).
      Early 60 s will cost you stupid money - and the value will plummet from even minor more, let alone something radical as this.
      If you wanna experiment...start with a Les Paul that has no pre existing sentimental value. So early 60's model is just a few years after the ultimate Holy Grail year, and considered highly collectible in their own rights... An Epiphone wouldn't be an altogether bad idea...

    Sweet, you got one of those KD Patented bridges! They’re on lots of popular headless import guitars - Latitude, EART, ALP, Jamstik Studio, etc.
    Most people don’t understand how to work them, but they’re really easy to maintain and use once you get past how different they seem. The tuning stability is awesome, the action can be set super low without even needing a zero fret. Not sure how you decided on this bridge, but good choice!

    • @sixstringtv1
      @sixstringtv1  Рік тому +1

      It's definitely a great bridge! I had to use one with tuners at the top cause the ones with tuners on the back would've sat right up against the body and I wouldn't have been able to turn them 🤣

    My first headless guitar was one I made myself out of an existing guitar. It got knocked off its stand and the headstock broke in two so I cut what was left of the headstock off, bolted on an extra Floyd Rose locking nut and routed the body to move the tuning machines to the body. I've had that guitar for like that for 35 years and its always been one of my best playing, most stable and comfortable guitars even though its ugly AF (for many reasons, not just because its headless... I mean its pink with neon green splatters on it ... a local guitar shop used to run an "ugly guitar contest" every Christmas and I entered it several times. Never won though because it was actually playable). This was a cheap Tokai/Strat style guitar and so I ended up putting a tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece on it and use the tailpiece as basically a big string tree. We didn't have cheap, readily available headless bridges back when I did mine (yeah, I'm old).

    Absolutely love the way this looks, which is odd for me, since I do t really like LPs or headless guitars but this works. Any headstock repair will actually be far stronger than the original, it is the reason people use scarf joints on guitars. That Gibson can possibly break due to the same headstock angle and a direct slam but it will NOT break in the same place. That glue is crazy strong.

    Hey kaylen I really liked the video,but I believe you might have made a mistake.Looking at every guitar on the market,i can see that after the nut,the string heading towards the tuning pegs is at an angle,the aren't completely straight,this helps reduce the tension on the neck.At first I thought that this isn't necessary on a headless guitar,but after checking headless guitars on thomann,you can clearly see that the strings are on an angle and not perfectly straight,i think you can correct it on the less paul by rotating the floyd rose locking nut.
    Though I am not sure,I might be wrong,I have zero experience with headless guitars,you can correct me if i am wrong.
