Whitesnake performing 'Fool for Your loving' on tour with Journey and Thunder at The Manchester Arena, Manchester, UK, 23rd May 2013.
R.I.P. Bernie, thanks for your passion. ❤
Sin duda ❤
R.I.P Bernie, always smiling and always bringing joy.
This is how he should be remembered - rocking out and loving it.
The joy on Bernie's face is priceless. I was smiling throughout this :)
This is unbelieveable. I was smiling throughout the whole thing too! So infectious. Best song.
Just watched this...smiling? Me too 😆

So adorable 💓
If you had the pleasure of knowing him I don’t think he ever was without that smile
Bernie died at the age of 72..... I knew the bands where he had played... For more than 40 years, Whitesnake among others.... My nightclub is full of people in the other world. And Bernie is now one of them. Great guitarist, and always smiling. Don't lose it fool your smile. and always play, where you are.
As soon as I saw Bernie walk on the stage, part of my youth came back.
RIP Jon Lord, Cozy Powell and Mel Galley.
Good luck Bernie, Mickey Moody, Neil Murray and John Sykes.
Dont forget Ian Paice.
@@philjones6054 Yes he was also in Whitesnake, but I would argue that his fortunes have been greater than the others hence my omission of his name.
The others were treated very badly by Coverdale.
@@euanelliott3613 The original Whitesnake was a superb band , Lovehunter and Trouble being their best albums in my opinion. You are right that David Coverdale shat on the boys, preferring the big hair glam band Whitesnake became. To be honest, I stopped following them from then on. The last gig of theirs I saw was Donnington 90.
I met Bernie Marsden at a gig back in the early nineties while he was touring with the Marsden Moody band, and found him to be a perfect gentleman. Go Bernie.
@@euanelliott3613 Paicey was also fired in 1982, wasn't he? David broke up the band, but would later invite Moody & Lord back.
@@abohsukampret I have no knowledge of Ian Paice being fired from Whitesnake.
I know that Coverdale was unhappy with Bernie and Micky swapping jokes behind his back onstage while he was singing Ain't No Love...
I doubt David would have been unhappy with Paiceys drumming, perhaps they both wanted a fresh challenge and that's why they split.
Mel Galley was supposed to be in the original lineup according to DC, and Neil Murray was fired for a year because he played with his fingers rather than a pick.
R.I.P. Bernie Marsden. beautiful solo
RIP Bernie, we miss you!
Bernie Marsden the original blood of whitesnake a true gent we wish you well
2 or 3 words to define Bernie. Humble, Genuine, Pure class.....Fly free Bernie my friend 🙏❤️
How cool is this.
Bernie looks so happy and still plays like it was yesterday.
Major props.
Being a better guitarist is one thing. Being a legend is another!
Aldrich showed a ton of class by keeping his solo pretty tame. It fit the moment. 👍✌
He's a pro!
Respect all round..the band stepped back to allow him play...Great moment..
Bernie would have crushed him in a cutting heads contest technical flash will never beat soulful and tasteful playing
@@threalismaradona9899 first off it wasn't a competition. Secondly: Doug Aldritch is a rock god. Not only can he shred, but his bluesy solos will make ya cry! Bernie Marsden is indeed a great player. I loved this performance
Bluesy perfection!
one the best genuine guys not big headed just did his superb job RIP
Miss you, Bernie, you truly were a wonderful friend and shall be missed.
RIP BERNIE MARSDEN - 2023😭
R.I.P. BERNIE❤❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢
RIP Bernie, so sad you’ve left us 😢
Without Bernie Marsden there most likely wouldn’t be the Whitesnake everyone knows today. Many of post 1986 Whitesnake’s biggest hits were re-recorded songs from pre 1986 Whitesnake and co-written by Bernie Marsden.
David knows that of course. But I think he genuinely loves Bernie. He cried like crazy when the news hit him.
@@stege9979 I’m sure and I love the music that they made together. Coverdale was MY GUY when it came to Deep Purple because he was the singer when I started really listening to them. He will always be my all time favorite lead singer. He was also a great songwriter on his own. There was just some connection between David and Bernie that I feel made them BOTH better.
So good to see a smile on Bernie’s face !!! Much respect
Who doesn't love Bernie Marsden playing guitar? A great ex-Snake!
Bernie didn't stick with his solo , this is kinda of bad inpro !
One of the best! Co writer with dave and jon lord on all the big hits!
Who doesn’t love Whitesnake, a great ex-Marsden!
Well, apparently, Coverdale didn't in the mid-1980s when he fired the British blues-based band and cashed in by replacing them with American poseur musicians. I am sure he made a lot of dollars but lost a lot of loyal fans and credibility. Admittedly, even before then, the songs had already become weaker and the album and song titles more cringe-worthy.
@1234tzimani Thank you man. I guess Bernie does not get the attention he deserves either!
Bernie...true legend and extraordinary musician!
Goodbye Bernie, I'm sure you're walking in the Shadow of the blues up in Heaven.
1951-2023.
This was great, but I loved the classic lineup of Whitesnake with Coverdale, Moody, Murray, Lord, Paice, and of course Bernie Marsden! RIP sir!!
This is great. Bernie is a master of the British blues rock tradition. Sheer style and class. I remember when this became Whitesnake's first hit here in the States back in '80. The best Whitesnake work is those early albums up through the '87 album. Slide It In is probably the best overall.
Berinie Marsden, one of the greatest blues and rock players
Yeah he"s a different class to what Coverdale as in his band now
rock it mr marsden , an original snake
So good to see Bernie again. They don't make them anymore......only guitarist that reminds me of him is Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Love bernies original solo on this track and his playing on countless others ,rock on in the afterlife brother you left a mark n this world for me at least 😀👍
I love how Doug skipped shred part in his solo:) Showing respect for a bluesy feel o great Bernie:)
Need a love button for that comment
Doug is a pure class act!
Class act Doug
And he didnt make a fast solo either, showing respect for the older guy.
For old school guitarists every note means something. They have fewer notes in their solos but they are anyway harder to play than the modern/80s shredding/showoffalltechniquesatonce solos.
E.g. everyone can play Gilmours solos note by note but only Gilmour can play it with the correct feel.
So yes it was good that Doug slowed down.
Marsden is an amazing guitartist.
Bernie Marsden and WhiteSnake performing together with the best band in the world priceless
Noodling endlessly on the guitar is not hard. Extremely difficult is creating a memorable riff! Kudos to BM for creating them!
So excited to see Bernie walk onto that stage and just tear it up! Man, he can play!
It's great to see the genuine affection that Doug has for Bernie. And by the look on Bernie's face, he enjoyed being there. Wish I'd have seen it live.
Who's Doug?
The mighty Doug Aldrich; the one in the waist coat playing the Les Paul. He's a true hard rock TITAN. ;)
You can say that again, Kevin! LOL
Tommie on drums.
I was there
I was there remember it well. great guitar player Bernie.
Nice to see Bernie with that look in his eyes! Seems he was really enjoying himself.
Absolutely. Great to see ex-snakes visit in a band like a part of a family.
He looked joyful
oh dear Bernie ... we all gonna miss you .... long therm companion ....coolness of a man
BM was such a likeable unassuming fellow...great old school rock musican...Lot of respect on that stage...Aldrich steps out in front which is automatic but then thinks...."shit, get back behind Bernie"...respect.
R.I.P Bernie Marsden fuiste un icono de whitesnake
RIP Bernie ! we never forget you!
This made me cry, absolutely awesome musicianship, love ya Bernie 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Bernie is a breath of fresh air of true blues sounds here. Some true feeling that is really missing today whitesnake in addition to David voice
a simply phenomenal guitarist, plain and simple. Anyone who listens to his body of work can draw no other conclusion.
BRIAN a great songwriter in his own right...
Marsden’s tone is spot on, just like Live in the Heart of the City.
ALL HAIL BERNIE!!!!!!!!
(he looks SO happy!!!!)

You tube
R:I:P...🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤 Awesome to see this now.............. 💓
OK, after nearly 40 years, I'm just discovering today that Bernie wrote and recorded this and Here I Go Again. I had no idea they were re-recorded for the later albums.
Bernie such a great talent, I loved the earlier Whitesnake line up. 💙
Great to see Bernie. Remember Bernie and Micky Moody playing this in Leicester all those years back. WOWZA!!
His face in the first verse is fab, clearly all came flooding back :)
You're a gentleman David, a great heart all the good of the world to you, be always like this even in the worst moments in your life
R.I.P. Bernie
I saw the band in the 80s much love and respect they have earned it no haters
RIP Bernie my friend
Coverdale and marsden. Legends of rock
A crying shame David Coverdale forgot that, sometime around 1982
M3 plus the Purple 3
were Whitesnake for me..
Bernie Marsden
Micky Moody
Neil Murray
Jon Lord
Ian Paice
David Coverdale

Was at this concert and Whitesnake blew Journey away. My first time in the UK and not my last. Manchester is a awesome city with great people that made the show even more enjoyable.
Thought thunder stole the night.
👍🏻🎵
You’re welcome back, anytime.
Oh my God, Rust in peace Mr. Bernie Marsden.
RIP BERNIE THE GREAT MARSDEN 😢
One of the greatest bands ever! 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🎸
Still love the old stuff..first band i ever saw live. in birmingham 36 years ago. I was 16 and almosy missed the coach coming home getting my t shirt. Wonderful.memories thankyou whitesnake for enriching my youth.
Bernie looks so happy
To me Coverdale Is a class act. Bernie is still a great player and a class act as well.
John Sykes disagrees to the Coverdale class act comment
@@gavin1971 As does Micky Moody.
@Gavsea I think many would disagree on Coverdale being a class act.
@@robertbishop5357Coverdale's voice is clearly gone too. He sounds like a chain smoking goblin lol.
I love this classic!!!
Love Bernie!!! A great gentleman!!!
This is how I want to remember Bernie.Obviously loving, and being loved for his music.
Thank you for everything Bernie. You were the softer part of "Ritchie!" Learned so much from you. RIP maestro.❤
There's only one Marsden it's what I grew up with hearing❤️ each guitarist of this band brought there own style to the group they each capture a Moement in time they all make up white snake 🐍. And with out any of them the sound wouldn't be the same. And for David well a voice that will reach the edges of time long after we are dust . One of the best rock groups ever .
Marsden and Moody, by far the best version of Whitesnake.
The original and the best
And by some distance
Nah. For me, John Sykes and that tone will always be THE Whitesnake for me. But Bernie was great.
@@judaspriestshrine Whitesnake back then were a bluesy rock band, Sykes isn't a bluesy rock guitarist.
...love to see Bernie rock it still..but you have to give it up for Tommy..what an absolute legend..still going after it and still playing as good as ever!!💯💥👌🙏
Man, it doesn’t get much better than this!
Oh good grief, the man is a lot older, with all due respect, let's see you hit those notes, heck you probably can't..Hat's off to you David & Whitesnake keep it coming..There are still those of us out there who appreciate & love ya, sounds great!!
4:02 , people complain , but you don't do that if you re really cooked .
One of the greatest voices in history.. thanks David ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
RIP BERNIE YOU ARE THE BEST GUITAR OF WHITESNAKE

One of the most touching moments of rock'n roll history to me, who lost my heart to the sound of theese two legends the very first time I heard them back in 1978.
I was ten years old, and I knew instantly that this was music I'd be stuck with for the rest of my life. And I loved that thought:)
I pray to god every night that they can sit down, have a beer and write some music again - and then go out and play it, as a stripped down Whitesnake-universe on smaller clubs - with Tommy Aldridge on drums. No drummer make Whitesnake sounds better than Tommy!
Thank you for playing the soundtracks to my life David, Bernie and The Beast! It's a shame it couldn't be there that night! I guess it was out there somewhere on the road working for Joe Bonamassa. Bringing the snake legend on to new generations;)
Thank you guys!
that sounds exactly like me , the first time i heard ACDC on Don Kirshners Rock concert on a saturday night hosted by douchbag Ted Nugent no less ! Had to be 78 or 79 , not sure . Nugent was a dick but chills went up my spine when Angus let er rip ! lol . Im interested in finding a copy of that show , could you imagine . . . dickweed GOP mouthpiece ted hosting first ACDC vids in North America ! Bon Scott was spot on and that lineup was at its peak . I ve heard rumours that Frank Zappa of all people had a influence before or after . Supposedly heard the band and let it be known to the powers that be this was gonna be huge . Man was a genius . Lets face it folks , the best ROCK band of ALL time , ACDC
joe guirey I totally agree! I love Whitesnake, but the first time I saw AC/DC - back in 79 - I was totally lost.
But..... AC/DC without Bon, and now Mal and Phil, isn't the band I fell for.
But hey... they're still going strong, so absolutely - the best rock n'roll band of all time!!
They also lost George Young, and let Brian Johnson quit, and also let Cliff Williams quit! Did you know that?
After so many years of top class music you are still at the top of your profession. Lovely to see Bernie again. Long may you all entertain us fans x
RIP Bernie 💐
Thanks for capturing this moment. Bernie Marsden is loving this musical reconciliation
Great Bernie !!!! Coverdale/ Mardsen!!!!!!great songs
Increidible, the best time of Whitesnake, whit that guitars.
Золотой вокал ! Все ребята профессионалы ! Как всегда всё на высшем уровне ! Огромная благодарность !!!
Marsden and Moody were a legendary duo.
RIP. Bernie Marsden
GREAT BERNIE MARSDEN !!!!!!
✌😎✌ Congrats from Brasil !!!!

Thanks for all the great tunes guys!!!
What a guitar player love you Bernie ❤️❤️❤️
I've met Bernie a couple of times over the years, such an overall great guy!
I thought it was Eddie Large when he walked in stage 😳
Oh man, wish i could have been at this concert. How brilliant Bernie Marsden was there too. Such happy memories from the 1980s of seeing Whitesnake live.
Oh come on, what about the other great Mickey Moody.
Bernie and Moody together had such such brilliance and understanding
My band supported Moody-Marsden in 1993. At the start of their set the bass player's rig wouldn't function so Mickey and Bernie started jamming. I wasn't watching at first and I assumed it was one of them, probably Bernie. When I looked and realised it was both of them weaving guitar lines together I was astonished! As a Whitesnake fan from 'Lovehunter' onwards those guys are absolute heroes of mine.
Eu amo o Whitesnake, tive a oportunidade de vê-los no Rock in Rio 1985
Met Bernie Marsden at a Heineken music festival in Swansea, back in the very early 90s. What a great guy, and a real gent.
Nice to see those twin Marshall VBA 8x10s alongside the backline. I plays 'em, and I likes 'em! Whitesnake are always an inspiration.
Bernie is amazing guitarist. Pure class❤️❤️
Bernie the main man 👌
It’s always a pleasure to see ex band mates making guest appearances no matter what band it is or who the ex members are....especially when it’s whitesnake
What a fkn sound, God bless BM🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
the amazing living legend bernie marsden on guitars together with the younger snakes
Saw Bernie with Whitesnake in 1980, a very memorable show!
Me too ! With Lord.
I loved that Doug was so respectfully of Bernie
Bernie,ありがとう
Bernie loved it !!! top man
RIP Bernie
Bernie Marsdon what a legend
I attended Whitesnake's first ever gig at the Music Machine in Camden in 1977 or 8 and before any of you start with me too there was only about 50 of us there, was only inches from the beast, great memories.
