Dude, I'm a sucker for unedited content, so I'm enjoying the shit out of this playthrough.
There are a lot of Subnautica fans that love to tell ppl how to play, so you'll probably get the backseat gaming aspect regardless. 😂
That being said, you're doing great on your own. Thanks for letting us tag along.

As others have said, you don't need a multipurpose room right now, you can get by with corridors.
The Habitat builder tool can deconstruct pieces too, and you get back 100% of the components and materials used for construction, so don't be afraid to build and experiment.
Right now you're doing the right thing, some small exploration, scanning and reading everything, and making hypotheses (some right, some wrong, but it doesn't matter; what count is thinking about it). Don't get trapped by the radio/pda markers, this is open world and you can absolutely go explore on your own on top of whatever marker/point of interest you've discovered.
Two small advice: don't sleep on the Scanner room, and on the Beacon. Beacons are extremely well worth their cost, and the ability to place as much of them as you want everywhere is a tremendous help without a map.
Otherwise, good luck with the spoilers, this is a hard game for this, full of exploration and searching and thinking and some secrets, and unfortunately people love to spoil things, or in some case troll players.

Dude, you're fine lol, what I would say, don't worry about doing ANYTHING wrong, play however YOU want to play.
Go lightly on the comments and tips and tricks, a lot may actually cause you to finish the game too quickly.
I'll just say this, when I first played, it took me months to finish, I didn't have comments or tips from people, I ended up having 4 bases built, and found everything by exploring, re-visiting key areas and re-reading a lot of PDA entries to figure out how to progress.
Too many playthroughs rarely use or even ignore the PDA, when literally EVERYTHING you need for progression, utilizing things you find and discovering the story/lore is in the PDA as you find them

The biggest non-spoiler tips I can give you: If you think you have enough titanium, get twice as much and then double it.
If you think you've got enough water, bring some more. Boy does it suck to be a million miles from base and realise you're going to die, not from drowning or a bitey boy but because you didn't bring enough water.
One specific tip: Try not to take metal salvage from the kelp areas so the stalkers will have more to chew on to drop more teeth. Makes it easier for you to find them in the long run.
Last non-specific tip is, you only get one shot at your first time playing this game. This game was not the kind of game I usually played but when I finished, I was awed by my experience. It was so much more than I ever expected. Go further than you think is wise. Go deeper than you're comfortable going. Look closer at every weird thing you see. Pick up all the things, scan everything. Poke your nose into every nook and cranny that interests you.
Subnautica is one of the very few games I wish I could erase from my brain so that I could play it again for the first time.
    Good luck adventurer.

Excellent advice. The only other advice I could add would be to really avoid the in-water storage crates. Just make a tube section and power it with solar and make storage lockers. The floating ones are super tiny, use more titanium, and can't be recycled.
Oh! AND that you can use dead batteries to craft new tools and they'll be fully charged.

I really enjoy the occasional sidebars to describe how the game reflects (or sometimes contradicts) biology as we know it! My favorite part of this game is the level of detail put into the flora and fauna, and it’s cool to see someone dive into that, pun intended.

There's a marine biologist who played this game and sort of ran a commentary about all the flora/fauna and compared them to Terran reality which was quite interesting. However, she wasn't a gamer and so you sort of chew through your knuckles for her extreme newb mistakes about game mechanics, but it's intersting viewing nontheless, look for Sea&me.

FYI, the rebreather doesn't directly increase your oxygen supply, but if you don't wear one, your O2 levels drop faster below 100m, and *really* fast below 200m. Also, the advantage of cured fish is that they don't spoil like cooked fish do, and give better nutrition than raw ones. (The raw fish that weren't going bad in storage did so because they were still alive.)

  • @Corevex

Ngl i need that 10hour stream vod right this second, your playthrough and your personality is just way too entertaining. i watched the first part literally 2 hours ago and saw you didnt have a part 2. so i went and made dinner and when i finished eating i went back to scrolling on youtube and saw episode 2. im Hyped!
Also bottom right corner (iirc) theres a little symbol of your scanner if you highlight anything you havent previously scanned. Just a thought. Excited to watch this episode!
Edit 1, only 30 minutes into the episode but some thoughts i got that could be useful.
1, The reason your fish didnt spoil is because they are still alive and not cooked. Curing the food makes it stay "fresh" in your inventory longer if you bring it with you for long explorations as forms of snacks.
2, When crafting cells or equipment that requires batteries, you can craft a new battery with full charge, then put that battery into one of your tools and use the dead battery (or almost dead battery) as part of the blueprint because as the tool gets crafted the battery of the new item will be 100% regardless of how much power the battery had as an ingredient.
    Edit 2
About going back and forth, you should consider just settling for a small tunnel or a T section and put lockers in there and just grab loot as you swim around and dump it in your habitat. that way you'll have a steady supply of stuff when you need it as you can just constantly passively collect loot instead of having to go back and forth over and over to look for that one thing you had but discarded because you had no room or couldnt loot for the same reason. Just a thought. Still absolutely love your videos though!

I've seen so many streamers get fixated on the multipurpose room that they never consider building a base out of the smaller pieces. A basic compartment can easily hold four wall lockers. That's a huge amount of storage space early game. It's a little cramped, not going to lie about that, but it's still a LOT bigger than the lifepod.
The description on the habitat builder even tells you to start with compartments!

The Reefback Leviathan PDA entry has actually a mistake in it - the Reefbacks are not 30 meters long, they are 70 meters long.
The reason is that the original Reefback design was smaller in erly Beta builds, but the devs decided to create a second larger and more impressive model. The original is still in the game as well and are now considered juveniles (they can be recognized by their smaller size and the lack of plants on their backs). The devs changed the picture to the new version but for some reason never changed the text.
All large wrecks can be entered btw, however you sometimes need tools for that.
1:15:50 No need to edit anything. If you want to save some time - build a basic base, put a few lockers inside and empty your inventory before going on ressource gathering tours. And put a new battery in the seaglide.

read the controls in settings, if i remember correctly, the space bar moves your character or ship directly up relative to your screen, and either C or shift or CTRL make it go down, I think it was C and I rebound it to shift idk. this allows for some cool movement, you'll see.

Nice vid man. Having fun here.
Gotta bad feeling bout this though. The repair tool pointing at you, and the sulfur plant beeing tilted on its side (the one with the last crash fish), those can be signs of a beginning save game corruption.
Be prepared to restart once it gets unplayable. ;) Or really stop dropping physics objects into the landscape. Maybe picking up all those loose pieces could reduce the system stress? Dunno. Good luck finding them, especially the floaters.
Edit: About building. Imo the most important ressources in Subnautica are time (not really on a blind playthrough though) and inventory space. If you feel guilty, having us watch you carrying an allmost full inventory back and forth, maby find a way to store stuff? I mean, no worries, I enjoy your full inventory trips. :D You allready count and memorize/pin what you actually need, which is great so early in your first run. Count me impressed.

    @NygaardBushcraft Місяць тому

Love to watch blind playthroughs.. Play the game like you want to. That being said there is a few non spoilery things I would like to mention. If you have an empty battery in your seaglide, switch it with the battery in an item you use less frequently like the repair tool.. and then work towards on always having a single spare battery on you in case you run dry. Also drink and eat to maximum before going off to do stuff and also bring extra food and water because you will always use more than you anticipate. There is no natural laws that prevents you from bringing a backup oxygen bottle (just a default one that are cheap to make and that you can discard later if you need space for stuff. Drop shit like floaters and eggs.. totally unusable most of the time. Even during day time you find resources much easier if you use the flashlight as they will stand out more, and move your mouse with calm deliberate motions instead of jerking it around so you don't miss resources or artifacts. No matter what you do keep track on your oxygen. At some point in time you will get a sense for how much time you need to reach surface. When your oxygen reaches zero and you black out, know that you still got approximately 10 seconds more to reach the surface.. so even if you can't see anything keep moving up and you stand a pretty good chance of not drowning. In the early game avoid gathering shit you don't need for a particular thing. When you get the habitat builder nd you can make a structure with lockers inside you can start packratting stuff, until then your inventory real estate is premium. If you bring stuff like an extra oxygen tank only bring it if you can afford to chuck it as it takes up a lot of inventory space. If you are short of oxygen eating a Bladderfish will give you a few seconds every time you eat one.. so pick up some as you move around.. and if you use the inventory space for something else, just eat a few. I was happy to see you building the airbladder early on as it give you more loiter time on deep-ish areas of the red kelp and deep kelp forest. in early game avoid making too many floating lockers as they can not be repurposed and pretty much useless later in the game.. 1 or 2 can help a bit but dont make like 20. Just a few of many good advices that can benefit you in this playthrough. You are much further away in the game at this point I start watching so I am sure you picked up on some stuff on your own. Also remember to keep up with radio calls, as they drive the story line, but at the same time I urge you to explore this wonderful game and take time to "smell the roses" so to speak. I read all game lore I come across, maybe not right away but soon after I get back home. keep the series going. In case you missed this one.. curing fish does not add nutrition value.. but it makes the fish way more durable so you can bring a llunch box along when you go to work. .cured fish and water and you are good to go. Also remember that cured fish takes away a couple of water points so always make sure you got enough water with you when exploring.

You should've tried restarting your game to see if it would make the ship explode lol! :(

Wouldn't work, the bug occurs whenever a save is made after the "within 2 hours" PDA message.
You can console trigger it though. Saw another person get the same issue but they looked it up and immediately triggered the explosion themselves.

I am enjoying watching you, however there are times i am almost yelling at you to experiment more.😅😊
Edit: Stop getting distracted, it is easy to do. Stop overloading your inventory, only pick up what you need.

not sure if anyone has made you aware but there's a feature to pause the game anytime you manage your pda or inventory. It's located through > escape>options>accessibilities>pda pause.

Did you even watch episode 1 we he talks about enabling PDA pause and asked if it is considered cheating?

    • @MasterNinjaTeddyBear
      @MasterNinjaTeddyBear Місяць тому

@@mavoc3094 I did not, no, because i go to the latest episode so the creator has a chance to see it. I don't consider it cheating and it can be disabled if they don't like it just as fast as it's enabled.

😢 unfortunately, something about your settings, speed of motion, and your way of unpredictably looking and jerking around is pretty nauseating. It almost seems like you are moving super twitchy fast...mouse sensitivity adjustmentt would help, and stop twirling around randomly when you are listening to game or talking to us? , When you are in the pod its sort of awful dizzy making as you pace and jerk around. Anybody have other suggestions of game setting adjustmemts that help.with this? Maybe its because you are using keyboard. I havent had this viewing issue in a long time: and I do love gamer playthroughs.. Going to have to stop watching unfortunately 😮good luck in the depths, minnow!

Don't edit it bro, keep doing what you're doing. You just lack inventory management and a clear plan. Stop gathering random crap, get what you need to progress step by step. Also, try keep up with the radio because the main story line will lead you to things you need. Great stuff, enjoying watching you struggle along :D

The gathering of random crap is not an issue if he had space to pick it up and store it after
