These curated talks are worth at least one epiphany; in this one, Ms Herring made me aware of how beach going has evolved. It never occurred to me that going to the beach and having a beach chair and umbrella is a modern thing, that is , there was a time that that didn't exist. These paintings have put it into a societal and historical context! Thanks so much.
Thank you so much Sarah....these talks are wonderful and very, very therapeutic!
A nice integration of art scholarship, life during COVID, technology and the importance if visiting museums.
Informative, concise, and very enjoyable. I also love her voice.
I was impressed with the curator's detailed explanation and also enjoyed various landscapes of beaches. Thank you for this video!
An absolutely lovely video and a wonderful way to visit the beach when you can’t. I love seeing the comparisons the different artists and their interpretation. Thank you.
Lovely presentation and very timely. What a wonderful and thoughtful idea to take us to the beach and the museum during these complex times
The Bonnington is a tiny miracle - only just over six inches by eleven, the perfectly rendered waves are mere flicks of white, and the whole appears as fresh as if painted yesterday. No wonder Delacroix was so impressed, and travelled with him oil sketching. A tragic early death.
A wonderful mellifluous voice.
Thank you so much for this excellent and fascinating walk through and explanation. I really enjoyed this presentation so much.
Thank you for this short and informative introduction to these beautiful paintings.
Just love beach paintings!
Thank you. That was fascinating to watch; well themed and informative.
a genuinely lovely talk. thank you.
Thank you. Very interesting and informative. Elizabeth 🇨🇦
Hermoso!!! I hope to go to the beach soon !
Beautiful video. But may I suggest to show the paintings in their actual format as a whole and not only parts that fit the screen... hope that makes any sense. Sorry for my poor english.
Thank you ☺️
J.c's work is awesome, he was a painter's painter.
Who was the early 1900's maritime impressionist coastal painter that painted the vista view of,
3 fishermen wading in the surf fishing, white sand beach, small white motor boat anchored?
Very interesting thank you.
She has a lovely manner.
🤩🎨🙏💖💐
Cool
Some nice social distancing on display here
Hmmm, 6 male artists... any chance of giving the equally talented, yet greatly under-represented, historical female artists a look in? Time to actively promote equality in the National Gallery please.
Can you name female 19th century artists who painted beaches (which is the scope of this video)? Genuine question.
Hi Sarah Sagar! If you would like to know more about female artists in the Gallery's collection, you might enjoy this video! ua-cam.com/video/VO4I8zVrOIQ/v-deo.html Thanks.
