On the rgxx devices you just have to hold the start button for a second to swap the joystick and dpad on PSP, N64, and Dreamcast. It's how the stock firmware works on all of the other devices too. And if you hold one of the shoulder buttons (can't remember which one) it will change the face buttons to the C buttons for N64
I would call your original GBA "well loved", and having a childhood handheld that looks like it was used a lot is nothing to be ashamed of. 😄 Great video
I’ve got mine ordered! I was gonna say though, I believe on the Cubexx you actually do get the exact same size 3.4 inch screen with gba and it is actually a 3x perfect integer scale as well (albeit w some huge black bars)
I've ordered a RG34XX because I'm very nostalgic from the classic GBA, but I know that it's a device for people that only want to play GBA. For other platforms, there are better devices
This is 100% an instant nostalgia purchase. I would totally get the xx cube if it came in more colors, I only have transparent handhelds and want to keep that trend going.
You do have perfect 3x integer scaling on the CubeXX with GBA games, just borders above and below the image. When you play GBA, you actually have the exact same image size as the RG34XX has.
I'm in Aus we paid $140 for it + games. I really want to play GBA games - Mario golf / Pokemon - i am 35+ and i never played a GBA before but from what i keep reading/seeing/watching GBA is a hell of a console(Handheld)!
Great review! One question though. On the button comparison segment, you compared all the buttons except for the A and B buttons. How accurate does the Anbernic ones feel when compared to the original GBA?
Hi there! The buttons feels similar in travel distance, but the original GBA feels a tad more mushy. Although the buttons on the RG34XX feel more stiff, I think that can change over time. As another viewer mentioned in another comment, my original GBA was "loved" well.
Which handheld should I get to play Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and other SNES games? I know nothing about these devices or how to install games on them. I just want something that works or has a lot of easy to follow directions. Thank you!
Hey! I would recommend either the Miyoo Mini Plus (ua-cam.com/video/T4xbUGlUgEI/v-deo.html ) or the RG35XX Plus (ua-cam.com/video/fPzeCqvPvb0/v-deo.html ) if you want a vertical handheld. The latest one that I really like is the RGCubeXX (ua-cam.com/video/nsFZPAmH9eU/v-deo.html ).
Hi! This runs GBA ROMs, not cartridges. If you're interested in something that runs cartridges, then I'd recommend the Analogue Pocket, but that's almost five times the price.
I noticed that it doesn't have any Pokemon games for GB, GBC, GBA, and DS. My guess is Anbernic has been somewhat careful with loading in Nintendo IPs on their handhelds as of late.
I have a rp4pro so I'm all set. The 5 is not enough of an upgrade besides the screen. If I had a 406H/V or the 500 something (forgot the name) wouldn't buy this one either. Besides the form factor and portability is not worth it unless you have no other handhelds and you can get it on sale.
As someone with a Steamdeck and a ROG Ally, I think Anbernic handhelds are wonderful little devices that make gaming super convenient and accessible. And while I have my eyes set on a pink Analog Pocket, I think it’s unfair to compare them to Anbernic. They’re a different class, and there’s a lot of people who can’t afford to drop $200+ on gaming systems, but are fine with $60. It’s a little bit classist my friend.
I feel like the screen is not big enough and it needs a bit more ram. Other than that and price is perfect for easier to emulate systems, and is very portable. Might need a bigger battery too..

That's fantastic! I had no idea. I appreciate you sharing that.

Haha! "Well loved" is a great way of thinking about. I made some good memories with it. Thanks!
18:23 - From what I heard, tapping the Power button swaps the D-Pad between D-Pad input and Left Analog input (8 directions)
Thanks! Someone else mentioned it. I appreciate the heads up. 🙌
7:57 dude, dont worry. There are people like me still rocking OG SP shells that have also seen things. I just wish my 35XXSP would get here faster
I’ve got mine ordered!

I 100% agree. This is basically a modern day GBA, and I'm okay with it.
Been looking forward to this video from Baldy!!!
Thanks! Holiday shopping and prep had been getting into my production schedule.
This is 100% an instant nostalgia purchase.

Definitely a nostalgia purchase.
With shipping time this is a post new years gift

13:57 can these color bars at least change color to the purple like the rest of the handheld?
Jeez. I do not need another handheld. But this one.... comes in green!
RIGHT?!
I love it to have it, but only to add in my collection.
Truth is grab your original GBA, try to play for 2 hours, ergonomic will kill your hands.
Great review! One question though. On the button comparison segment, you compared all the buttons except for the A and B buttons. How accurate does the Anbernic ones feel when compared to the original GBA?

Do you know what the name of that stand that you are displaying it on it's shown around 4:01
Oh yeah! It's this guy: amzn.to/41ISm3p (Affiliate Link)
I had the original gba. No backlit lcd irritated me. I went with the 35XX H. I wanted those analog sticks.
Finally I can play GBA on the go!
21:05 - what game is that?
One of my favorite GBA Games: Golden Sun.

@@baldlyrudy Thank you! And these come with the games already on them?
@sisterbluebirdd typically they do. Just make sure you buy the one that does. Sometimes stores will sell you units without a card installed.
Would this fit in original GBA cases
Very much so. It's almost a 1:1 replica in terms of shape and size.
Hi! This runs GBA cartridges? Thanks!

$80 on AliExpress 😬 I’ll wait a while…
Holy crap. It's listed at $80?
@ just checked to make sure it wasn’t a fluke and yeah, it’s on Anbernic’s official store for $80 w/o games
What Pokémon games does it offer?
I noticed that it doesn't have any Pokemon games for GB, GBC, GBA, and DS. My guess is Anbernic has been somewhat careful with loading in Nintendo IPs on their handhelds as of late.
when came to Indonesia ?
Not sure when shipments will start heading out world wide. But normally, these all go out shortly after the preorder window closes.
Nah man. If you have your H700 handhelds don't bother getting this one. If you don't then please do so.

Just another cheap bad Android emulator in a nice shell, these things come out monthly, just get an Analogue Pocket & never buy this garbage again.
Tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me you don't know what you're talking about.
CPU is just decent but only 1GB of RAM?

Ah. A person of culture.
