Linus, I've been watching your videos for years now and you are consistently one of the coolest cats out there. You do an amazing job and I've got tons of respect for you man. just wanted to give you some props for a job well done.
I’m so sorry for your loss Linus, my grandfather was basically my father and was completely tech illiterate so I’ve had so much fun getting him as updated as possible. Grandparents are so important in our lives and completely know how empty it makes you. It gets better over time, just keep him in your memory. Just as I do with my grandfather Ernie. May they rest in piece.
I only just revisited the video and now just looked at the comments, I am so sorry for you’re loss Linus, this was also one of my favorite videos of yours. RIP Grandpa John
Linus, I have watched this video so many times and every time I end up with tears, watching Grandpa John get so into the tech and the joy you get seeing/teaching him ❤ you're a great person Linus 👍 RIP Grandpa John, you seemed like such a great man.
RIP Grandpa John Wow that was so wholesome! I didn't see this video until today, but I'm so glad I got to see this. He seemed like a great man, may he rest in peace.
I've rewatched this video so many times. The first person to teach me how to use a computer and how to type 'properly' was my grandpa. He taught me some basic DOS and how to use WordStar. This video makes me teary every time. Thank you Linus!
Wholesome. After watching this, I called and talked to my grandpa. I encourage you all to do the same, it only takes a couple of minuets to talk to them, and show them you care and love them. Once they're gone, you wont have the chance.
Not everyone is lucky enough to have grandparents or live somewhere where people can grow this old and thats coming from the UK one of the wealthiest countries in the world where all my grandparents died younger than they should have because of how unequal our society is and how poor our healthcare system has been made over time by vested interests. Hopefully in the future we will all get to live out lour lives to their potenetial and have moments like this but that will require a massive change in mentality in what people value.
My grandpa died last year, and I agree. Even though he lived with us, I still feel like there were so many things I still didnt get to talk about. Same with my maternal grandfather although he passed quite sometime ago. Being the eldest on my mother's side I received everybody's love and each of my relatives that passed away I feel very sad inside.
So if you have grandparents or if your parents have gotten old, old homes are not the solution. Take care of them. Love them and cherish the moments you have. Regret does not let anyone rest easy
It is the most amazing think to teach the older generation how to use technology and it is also the most frustrating thing. At the end of the day its still amazing to see the look on their face when their mind is blown.
Its like showing a kid something new for the first time, but the roles are reversed. It is more... idk, satisfying isn't the right word... to show an adult something new, because they usually react stronger to it. As we age we set up boundaries for reality and fiction, and the older we get the stronger those bounds become. When they are broken its like walking into a dream or fairy tale. I can't imagine what my grand-kids will be showing me in 50-60 years. At the same time, I wonder if I won't already know it. I live and breath tech and science. If they show me something new, it will be REALLY spectacular.
I agree. Watching someone who never dreamed about things like these in his life and then it just happens... and that pure amazement and joy... its pretty heartwarming :)
I don't know about innocence. Age doesn't make you a pure person but it sure does make you one that is slowed down and submissive. Linus's grandpa is still a great guy all the same!
@@oxygen8538 When they say innocence in reference to old people, I think its referring to lack of knowledge about modern stuff. So in this video, his grandpa experienced a huge amount of technological leaps all at once. I and most people my age heard about these advancements slowly over time, so while I might have been slightly surprised or excited each time, it wasnt a huge deal. His "innocence" means his reaction is combined all into one time.
No wonder why Linus looks super young. It runs in the family, his grandpa looks better than most 70 year olds. I wonder what Linus will look in 60 years

I love how patient Linus is with him. I love how adorably impressed he is with every small thing. Just a genuine connection
also helps that the grandpa is willing to learn. I tried teaching my grandma to use a PC and browse websites, she complained for 2 hours straight until i gave up. couple years later my 6 year old cousin showed her how to browse facebook and she hasn't done anything else since because its easy for her to connect to family that way

@@neek01 Complete opposite over here i’ve spent endless hours being super patient with my Grandparents they just don’t care to learn any of it lol they’ll still ask me questions like “How do i get to the google thingy?” even though i’ve probably showed them numerous times :(
Man you can see where Linus took his energy. He looked good at this age. My condolences to you and your family Linus. Stay strong and be proud of what he has given to you and always cherish the old memories you had with him.
He looked more than good. I wouldn't believe it if someone told me he was 91
Yeah you can tell they are related just by looking at them sitting side by side.

I'm sorry for your loss. 96 years. Y'all were blessed to have him for so many wonderful years.

I miss my grandpa, he passed away at 90 3 years ago, thank you for letting me thinking of him again man.
Dawson P bit too late for that...
Mine is already gone 😓 but watching others love their grandpa fills that hole in my heart at times
It is the most amazing think to teach the older generation how to use technology and it is also the most frustrating thing. At the end of the day its still amazing to see the look on their face when their mind is blown.
And then the next day they forget how to operate it :(
Its like showing a kid something new for the first time, but the roles are reversed.
Expect to get pestered all the time if you start teaching them XD
Ikr it is really amazing, i was smiling the whole video
I agree. Watching someone who never dreamed about things like these in his life and then it just happens... and that pure amazement and joy... its pretty heartwarming :)
i LOVE the elderly
they're innocence and wisdom and how amazed they are by technology we all take for granted
agreed.
I don't know about innocence. Age doesn't make you a pure person but it sure does make you one that is slowed down and submissive. Linus's grandpa is still a great guy all the same!
Rezend Gamer not all of them..
*Their (possessive)
They're = contraction of "THEY aRE"
@@oxygen8538 When they say innocence in reference to old people, I think its referring to lack of knowledge about modern stuff. So in this video, his grandpa experienced a huge amount of technological leaps all at once. I and most people my age heard about these advancements slowly over time, so while I might have been slightly surprised or excited each time, it wasnt a huge deal. His "innocence" means his reaction is combined all into one time.
Man was a legend! Died at 96..... I am in tears he looks so kind!
