Since I've changed my starter, my car starts up right away. Before it would sometimes just make a single click noise and nothing. After a few tries it will finally start but now it starter works just as new and the car starts right up. It was not the battery or the alternator that was the issue. It was the Honda Mitsuba starter.
Question: At what mileage did you starter go out?

This was the best video that I could find on this process. A word of caution for anyone who tries this. When you're putting the new starter in be sure to hand thread the first bolt at the bottom to near completion. Don't only do it halfway assuming you can get the rest done then finish it up. I did this and the weight of the starter on that one bolt caused the threads inside the bolt hole to get messed up so now the bolt won't go all the way in. I've got to take it to a shop to get them to rethread that hole and I'm going to just let them finish the install. This is doable at home but it is extremely tight area you're working in. I had my car on ramps and it's simply not enough clearance when laying on your back to navigate this process. You need to be on stands that go higher than ramps do so that you can extend your arms up into the area to work. I wasn't comfortable being under the car just on stands.

Was a great detailed video. I also purchased a refurbished starter. But a word of caution. When tightening the 12mm bolt that connects the battery terminal cable. Be careful when tightening, the lower portion of the bracket broke and I ended up buying a new one.

About 4 months ago I had to change out the starter on a 2005 Camry V6 XLE with 65K miles. It was a bit of a pain to get to, but the . in the Honda looks even more difficult to change out.

Thanks for the video, i think my 2015 honda accord sport 4cyl needs a new starter, been having issues where it wont start but if i wait like 10 seconds it does. Used to be every now and then, now its every time i want start it. Car has 128k miles so figured its probably the starter since all my lights in car work perfectly fine and once it starts it just goes without issue.

Are you able to rotate the flywheel without changing the starter? Or do you need to replace the starter and rotate the fly wheel? I had the starter replaced but the mechanics never rotated the fly wheel with it.. and this was like half a year ago..

Is that for a CVT ? I have a 2013 Honda Accord Ex 2.4l CVT transmission.
Would the same type starter work or do I need One specificity for a CVT TRANSMISSION?
I’d like to Buy the same type starter that I’m replacing .
Unless someone can suggest a Better one? Seems plenty of ppl have had issues with the Starters in these certain year Hondas.

How can you tell if the starter is going bad? I have 2013 accord v6 coupe with 110k and my dash key light comes on intermittently. I’ve noticed lately it doesn’t start off the 1st try, sometimes it takes 2-5 times to push button start. Once I get the car started everything is fine. Do you think it’s the starter or maybe the push button connection? Please help!

This is a common issue with the 2013-17 accords both 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder models.. It could be the starter, brake switch sensor, push button switch or the battery sensor relay switch.

    Hi.
I am having a hard time to remove the second 14mm I believe it’s the longer screw.
My issue is when I get the socket in I have literally no room to turn the socket. I tried with extension and without I used the 1/2 drive from harbor freight.
Can you tell me what tool you used to get it out?
    Thank you in advance!

You can remove the intake manifold plate on the right side of the upper bolt by removing the 3 bolts that hold it on. Or you can try using a ratchet with a swivel head and extension to give you more leverage.

Had it replaced by my mechanic for about $500 parts/labor with an OEM starter. The starter now makes a great sound start up sound now.
