- With no good ice for machine travel yet, I decided to take a hike after dark to a spot I had a feeling would be holding some crappies. It was worth the walk!

First time viewer. Appreciate your explanations of the reasons for where and why you set up. Even more Appreciate you saying what state had the legal use of the light. TIGHT LINES
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Have you tried that green light they throw in the water? I was intrigued by that and wanted to try it. I guess the light brings in bugs, that brings minnows etc.
@@saminthewoodsI have used it. Takes the right lake for it to work. Some lakes with heavy bug hatches I’ve noticed it’s not as beneficial but on lakes that don’t have as many dence bug populations it helps get the bugs in one spot and that brings in this fish.
Lucky you!....im in south Minnesota and im about a week away from good ice in my area
It’s been touch and go here. Finally some cold coming!
new sub! thx for the educational content! I'm in southern Wisconsin
what size tika flash do you like for crappie and gills?
Thanks for watching!
I like the biggest size honestly. Especially for crappies. Gets down quick and fishes fast.
@@calebwistad do you think a white led light dropped down the hole would be effective too?
awesome
Thanks!
How deep can you fish a basin with a light? I would think past 12/14' would be useless? Were they coming off bottom or suspended?
I’ve definitely had good results down to about 30’ These particular fish were about 22’ down over 26 feet of water.
Wow! Thanks, and keep up the awesome content. 👍
Have you ever tried those green lights ?
No, but I’d like to!
I have. I like the sinking submersible ones.
Do you think you would have caught any fish without all that high $$ equipment?!
That totally depends on what you are including in your definition of “high dollar equipment.” If I had gone out there with a just a lantern, a chisel and a cheap jig rod it’s highly unlikely that I would have caught any fish in that scenario. I needed at least a flasher to find the fish and a decent rod to feel the ultra light bites. Every little advantage helps but very few of them are absolutely necessary. Plus I enjoy fishing with cool stuff. 😆
I’ve heard you should keep the light off to the side and fish the edge, but you seem to be on them. I’ve tried a few times and nothing showed up
