Just curious, wouldnt you get better strikes on your anvil if it was stable and wasnt moving every time you struck on it?

Yes, it would definitely be better. The foundation I use is still very light, I'm not getting a better one at the moment, but as soon as I get a heavier and more stable one I'll switch. 👍👍👍

To be honest, I believe it's just for decoration, I don't see functionality for it. It might even give your hands a little more grip, but nothing too significant. 👍👍👍
