Sir, can we write a/b > 1 as a > b ? Can we take ' b' to right hand side? As we are multiplying with positive number the inequality sign wont change, so it wont affect the condition right? Can we do this way ? Bit confused, whether this process is correct or not. Please answer.
Hi Akshat, This one is a toughie. You should complete this question within 3 minutes in an exam scenario. You'll have to be quick in taking counterexamples that either prove or disprove the given relation. A skill like this comes from extensive practice and familiarity with similar questions. Wishing you the best for your GMAT Prep!
What is the average time taken to solve this problem ? it took me 3 minutes to arrive at the right answer . But I am confused about the pace . Please tell me whether I took more than required time to solve this problem ?
This one is a tough question. So, 3 minutes is not bad at all. Ideally, when you are exam ready, you should manage it in under 2.5 minutes. The average time available for a question is 2 minutes. There are enough moderate difficulty questions as the test is an adaptive one. Those questions, you will be able to solve in under 90 seconds and about three to five questions in under a minute. So, it will average out.
About 200 hours of prep will be required. If you invest 2 hours a day, we are talking about 3 months. Pls make sure that it is consistent. Doing 14 hours in a week is very different from doing 2 hours a day.

Yes, you can write a/b>1 as a>b. But in this question, it does not take you anywhere. It is better to use counter examples in this type of question
Amazing Q. ...
Glad you liked it Gaurav! Cheers!
what if we solve the inequality of the 2nd equation ,that will be a>b . which is definite NO. please explain if I am wrong
a = -4 abd b = -2 will refute that. because a/b will be greater than 1 but a is less than b
A structured way to check for scenarios which may not work is : Negative Numbers, Fractions, Zero
How do we ensure that we don't end up spending 4-6 minutes on such a question?

Sir @13:49 your eg1 says, A>B (No) & eg2 says, A>B (yes) and you have concluded, these two are wrong. I think we have to take an eg btw -1&0
